@@markpivik6211 thanks. No name yet. After alittle while of running it I think im going to turn to all of you guys and the youtube world to pick a name!! So--great deal for you, Brett! You will do well! Having that new trailer will really help cut down your load/unload time-plus make the effort a lot easier as you get older. WOA--I'd get extra keys for everythinhg-truck/pony motor, etc-put them on different key rings/keep seperaeted. Oh my! 4 up front, and 4 in the rear. Is the well on the XL bigger than the Fontane? I pray that its something other than red under the hood... yes I know those chances are slim and none these days, but I have never been overly impressed with Cummins. As long as there is 18 on the floor, life will be just fine. I had a strong feeling that it was going to be something amazing with more axles, weight, and Lord willing more power/torque. I pray that they serve you and earn extremely well for you sir. Now, hiw bout a fun little trip to Boston heavy, with all 8 on the ground rolling, and a few citidiots thrown in for fun lol? 🙏💜
Lol well it's red under the hood. X15 605 with a tuner so little more than 605. 18 speed, split rear ends, 20k front axle on 425 tires. Steerable lift axle also running 425's. It's a beast for sure!!

I can tell you what I've learned in the last 25 years of lowbedding. when the dozer or excavator (any tracked equip.) cams over the ridge of the loading ramps and starts tilting down level on the deck, stop and set the brakes get off and mark where that point is on the track frame. That is the CG of the machine. Depending on your empty weights, you can find the CG of your setup, and line up both CG's. Mine was easy as pie. Fifth wheel had 1 notch showing on the slider and it would load the truck perfecty. I could get all of the allowable weight on the truck. That helped alot as the truck would legal a tiny bit more than the trailer axles. So if I was about 3-5 inches forward of the trailer CG, I could get all the weight balanced. If I was over on 1 axle, I was over on ALL the axles. Wheeled equipment is harder of course. But, once you have the fifth wheel setting figured out to max the axles on either 3 or 4 on the truck, its just a matter of figuring out the pressure gauges and your there. I'm sure you know all this though. You're just being humble. Semper Fi from one Jar Head to another. Oh, and congrats on MOVIN UP! I'm sure your gonna kill it!

Congratulations on the new gear! It's always nice to upgrade. I think your strategy is a good one, if you want to strike the iron while it's hot you better get a hammer before you take the iron out of the fire. Things go in cycles. Traffic will resume, then decline again. The right time to get ready for the next peak is at the preceding trough. Unless you're clairvoyant you may not get the timing exactly right, but being ready a little early won't hurt. Besides, you have a chance to learn the new gear. As to naming the truck, I was never one to name inanimate objects. As an example, I named my home wifi network "Ellgonese" because that's what my shipmate in the Navy back in the 70s named my Mazda and I couldn't think of anything better. Feel free to name the truck "Ellgonese" if you can't find anything better. Or you could pick something from literature.
