That the bassist doesn't get more screen time is almost a criminal offence, just an unbelievable musician, one of the greatest basslines I can remember hearing.
A lot of people talk shite on Jay (largely (almost entirely, in fact) due to a 'that' paparazzi incident) but I met him back in the early 00s and he was so sound it's unreal. Literally just bumped into him outside a pub in MK and got talking about jazz and he took me for a ride in his car (a Jag - I'm a bike guy not a car guy so I couldn't tell you which) up the M1 to Northampton services, bought me a Wimpy, and sat on the curb chatting with me for close to an hour before dropping me back, wishing me well, and fucking off. This was either late 2002/early 2003, they were still HUGE in the UK at the time. I can't imagine many comparably big stars doing the same. Remarkably down to earth guy.
To think this guy can’t play an instrument yet he writes some wonderful songs. I’ve researched how he does it. He hums the melody to his band and instructs them what he wants to hear and builds the song up. Amazing and very talented
Both Stu Zender & Nick Fyffe have been amazing on the bass. The early music left more space to it before it was so disco-influenced. Nonetheless it's always a pleasure to hear them play.
+Sergio Valdez so true lad but that's the irony of the bass player (being one myself) no one pays attention but bass is one of the key elements in any song lel
+machoman Parry im a guitar player. have been for 9 years. over the last 2 years ive started appreciating more instruments. Few bands can deliver live what they can produce/edit in a studio, Jamiroquai are certainly in that bracket and even more better than their studio recordings - rare feat indeed imo.
@@renateholobek but he still moves. I saw him live twice, in 2010 he made the show with a broken leg. Last time, he had spinal surgery, but that didnt stopped him again

pop music works because its easy to listen to and people that don't understand music at all will be able to understand it because its in a pleasant key and the radios play it. but this is absolutely the next step up, it achieves everything you want from a pop song whilst also being complex, easy to dance to and interesting. Bands like this need to be played more. timeless.
I first saw their video for Space Cowboy in the early 90s and liked it. Didn't really start loving them until Virtual Insanity and then I was hooked after that. My cousin walked into my room while I was jamming out to Cosmic Girl and told me to stop listening to that gay music. Of course I did not lol
I love how these guys change up the arrangements on their songs quite often. It’s pure genius. It keeps their songs fresh. It’s boring to play the songs exactly the same way time after time.
yay! I was there. Verona the closest city from where I was living and Jamiroquai were touring. Remember the rain and Toby Smith's amazing keyboards talent. RIP legend.

My favorite Jamiroquai track from the start, with its funny references to scifi classics. Often listen to it on flights in Asia, but watching this live version is even more fun.
Best concert I've seen on RUclips. Why in the world wasn't the bassist seen as much as as the drummer, guitarist and keyboard player? He's conspicuous by his absence. Poor choice for otherwise good direction. He and the drummer are driving the band.

Jamiroquai was underground in the US. There are many of us who loved this British soul. We didn't care if radio stations weren't playing it!
