@@ataulfopendragon355 Well, the chair I had before was causing my ass to hurt after a few hours of sitting, but after changing, it literally doesn’t hurt anymore.
As for cheaper alternatives, maybe you could try looking for a secondhand herman miller. Where I’m from, pre-owned ones are selling for around half the original price.

@@ataulfopendragon355 Steelcase leap v2 is the 2nd rank in term of expensive, but arguably rank 1 in comfortable, so at the moment Steelcase leap is the best p/p. You can go search it up but for chair THE BEST thing you could do is sit on it first before buying it (apply to all chair doesn't matter the price).
As Suisei has pointed out, she is too small for a male adult chair, so even if she get Herman Miller wrong size it still hurt her (my point is that's why u need to sit on it first to see if it's fit you or not).

Those Herman Millers are built to last, one of my old jobs had the Herman Miller Equa and those date to the 70's and 80's and were still in very good condition despite continued usage. The Aeron is probably the most popular one people see now, and depending on the country they can be easy to find on the second hand market, I've heard of people buying used ones with production dates from the late 90's still in superb condition with the mesh not sagging or torn at all. The Embody while not as numerous is one of the higher end ones they make now though some people find it not as comfortable as the Aeron.
The Herman Miller chairs go by height and weight with a chart to consult for sizing on a particular model. So best to double check before randomly buying one. (usually goes like Size A, Size B and Size C).

      @HappyBeezerStudios 2 года назад

Like total height? Would be interesting what sizes would fit for me and one of my friends. He is the longer one when we're standing, but when sitting I'm bigger. So he has mostly longer legs.

    Thank you Yuna.
Also yes, Suisei does have very nice legs (I am reminded of the "Hololive Morning" thing that was done a while back where girls each did a week and Suisei was early March. She said "today I will show you my legs" in one of them. From her movements she was sitting in a rotating office chair like thing I guess).

I bought a Herman Miller Embody last Black Friday 2021. I had multiple gaming chairs that broke too quickly and made my back kinda hurt without providing me any real benefits. I WFH with a remote job so I figured it was a good investment since I'm in this chair for like 16 hours a day. And it is a good investment.

    • @HappyBeezerStudios

Yeah, most gaming chairs are the same cheaply made things just with a different branding. But a well build office chair will last for ages.

Those chairs do cost a lot. But for Suisei, other V-Tubers, and anyone else who spends many hours sitting in a chair day after day (me for instance), it's a lot more reasonable than it seems.
I bought one of their Aeron chairs around 12 and a half years ago (I think it cost me around $900-1000 at the time). Never had any problems with it and it feels as comfortable today as it was when I got it. They come in three different sizes aimed at three different height ranges. That way you can get one where you can sit comfortably with your back against the chair without your feet dangling or your knees raised up too high depending on how tall you are (like Suisei was explaining).
I'd heard lots of good things about them, but what convinced me to spend what seemed like an absurd amount of money on a chair was hearing someone who had one explain the right way to think about how much it costs. Here's the essence of it. Right now a new Herman Miller Aeron is around $1650-1700 in the US (with tax and shipping). The chair comes with a 12 year warranty that covers basically everything, unlike most warranties. Factoring in leap years, there are 365.25 days a year. So 12 years equals 4383 days. Divide $1700 by 4383 days and you get $0.39 a day.
If you need to sit in a chair for hours on end day after day, 39 cents a day is quite reasonable for a good chair. For comparison, your typical gamer chair costs $100-300, which works out to $0.09 to $0.27 a day if you get 3 good years out of it (i.e. before the padding starts to go bad such that you feel like you're sitting on a bench). So gamer chairs are less expensive both in terms of the sticker price of the chair and in its cost per day, though the cost per day difference is much smaller than the sticker price difference.
While price is important, the most important thing is having a chair that's comfortable and won't leave you feeling sore, give you back problems, etc., if you need to sit for long periods of time. That's the thing that really sets Herman Miller chairs apart from chairs for most people. Definitely try one out first if you do consider buying one. You'll be sitting in it for many years, so if there's something you don't like about it or it doesn't feel comfortable to you, keep looking and trying out other chairs until you find one that's good for you. Maybe a gamer chair will end up being the most comfortable chair for you.
But if you're wondering why people spend a lot of money on these chairs, it's because they last a really long time, have an excellent warranty, are comfortable to sit in for long periods of time, come in 3 sizes (height ranges) rather than 1 size for everyone, and don't cost all that much more when you work out how much it costs per day compared to the cost per day of other chairs that are meant for similar uses.

"Buy once cry once" is the way to go with items that are going to see constant use. Chairs, beds, and cookware are the 3 categories you should always splurge on. Spending a lot now just front loads your expense. For example: You drop $120+ on a Le Creuset skillet and that seems excessive until you realize that this was the last skillet you'll ever need to buy for the rest of your life. You won't need to replace it, your grandson won't need to replace it, and if the company is still around in 2100, their grandkid will probably still be able to get warranty service on it.

I was recently looking for a new chair for myself, and I got so fed up with the process. If I wanted an office chair from a good local manufacturer, I wasn't allowed, because B2B only.
Ended up just going with a secret lab, since they at least made the buying process easy.

Ahh, yes Hamon Mirror. Very useful against vampires and aztec gods of fitness.
But a wise choice. Reject gaming chairs, return to high end office chairs.
A good chair will last a long time, and the proper size will be great for health, especially when you sit for long hours.
