- Grizzly Bear is easily one of my favorite bands ever. The Carleton Singing Knights get some indie cred from this awesomely arranged and led piece by mister Tom Fry (who sings on Sufjan and stuff).
For real though, I love this song. This was performed at the Knights's spring concert. More videos are on their way.
And to avoid questions, these are kids from Carleton College in Northfield, MN. Neat-o.

This is particularly good because the soloist actually knows how to be a performer. It is not just about hitting pitch perfect notes, but about modulating your voice and emoting. If you watch other a capella performances like this (I'm thinking the choir-cover of Bon Iver's For Emma) the soloists often sound like elevator versions of the real songs.

Good composition, but that lead singer's voice leaves a lot to be desired.
you guys should sing on a neck on a spit. it might be hard considering the tempo changes and other weird things, but i have faith that you talented fellers can pull it off and pull it off splendidly. please blow me away :)

very good job. lacks the desperate sound of the real song (until the kniiiiife chorus, good job on that), but that happens with almost all a capella. solid performance.
What is with all these choir groups doing acapella versions of like the raddest songs ever! Awesome idea. The Fleet Foxes 'Ragged Wood' one is fucking sweet as well.

I think two weeks or While you wait for the others would work well for this. Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, and Fleet foxes have harmonies that this fits.
OH, so they are from Carleton College? I thought the "Carlton" part of their name was from Fresh Prince of Bel Air's Carlton played by Alfonso Ribeiro.

Not great. The guy singing the lyrics was breaking the notes too much. It should be soft and mellow. Singing is not for sailors.
