You probably won't see this, but how did know the boat was still lined up with you? Do you have a camera you can view? Are SEALs calling it out on the radio from the boat or maybe from within the helicopter itself? Do they give you a speed and heading to match like aircraft or is this something you have to eyeball and estimate for yourself? Anyway, super impressive flying dude.. I hope you and your family have a good as can be holiday season.
This is why fast-roping sucks. It's so slow, even for hardened navy SEALs. The only time its actually useful without certain doom is in an undisclosed location (try figuring that out with a black hawk blaring) or during an exercise like this one... that's it.
@@helolumpy, I was with Helicopter Combat Support SPECIAL squadron FIVE (HCS-5). One of only two “special” squadrons in the Navy back in the day and a derivative of HAL-5 - the old Navy gunships.

THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm flying the helicopter. One of the other pilots in the unit filmed this for me.

Fast rope gloves
They’re Navy SEALs, they don’t need gloves.
Mechanics brand gloves you buy at any auto part supplier.

What squadron is the helo from?
Expeditionary Sea Combat Unit ONE (ESCU-1), the unit is now decommissioned
@@helolumpy, that’s the name of the actual squadron? Or is ESCU-1 a larger group and a component of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC)?
