Leonard "Bones" McCoy.

Both Spock and Bones' faces when they heard "fat teddy bear" were priceless! Such a memorable moment!
Liebling05 the fat teddy bear was a sehlat named I-Chaya who saved Spocks life during his kahswan test at the cost of its own because it was poisoned by the venom of a le-matya.

I love his verbal sparring with Spock. McCoy was a snarkmaster but Spock gave as good as he got.
Deforest Kelley imposed his own role in Star Trek. Respect.

Everyone's talking about McCoy's glee, but so few people appreciate that solid Mother's Glee on Amanda's face (and the sheer resignation on Spock's) at the opportunity to tell (potentially embarrassing) kiddo stories about her son.

The ring was his mother's, which he wore until he passed awwy. Kelley flat out refused to be on the show if he couldn't wear it
Can't imagine any other actor in that role.

@@ArgonTheAware Yeah, that was some good casting. I meant, any other actor originating that role. Chuck Huber was very good facsimile in "Star Trek Continues."
ArgonTheAware : I also believe that Karl Urban does a very good job of bringing Dr. McCoy back into the ‘Star Trek’ universe. I read a story about how Mr. Urban and his son watch TOS together, even before he got the role in the newest movies. They both like Dr. McCoy and now his dad got to play that role. As one of the original fans from when ‘Star Trek’ first aired in the 1960s, I really like the three newest movies and I am glad that this legacy of a united Earth people continues.
Miss this show. Use to love it well I still do.
