Looks great. This is exactly what I have in my house and open loft that we use for nothing because it’s pretty much open to the living room. I have someone coming out to start the project next week I can’t wait
I actually think it looks way better enclosed. About to do something similar to our loft but mine fortunately will be easier. I just have to add a door and extend one half wall all the way to the ceiling.
This came out beautiful. How did you find a reputable company to do the work? I am hearing many horror stories in my home state (Colorado) of scammers or people not finishing the job after it's begun.
Looks great ! We want to convert ours but I would like a glass wall / door .. the idea is to get a a noise cancelling room but not loose the light from the loft into the hall way .. I wonder who can help do that
It looks fantastic. I just can’t help but think that by adding a window (without the glass, haha) you could make the space still flow but the space would still have the privacy you desired
Love it.I always thought those loft areas were a waste of space, Very nicely done. Amazing how the new hallway does not make the area feel enclosed or small at all. i agree with you-looks even better than i was imagining.
If this house only has 2 bedrooms (based on what’s said at the beginning), making an enclosed room should increase its value. If this house had 4 bedrooms, then it would be a different story. I might incorporate some kind of window/glass to let some light out to the corridor.
How exciting! This is awesome. They did a great job. How was it living in renovation? Was it incredibly expensive? We are expecting twins on top of the three kiddos we already have and will need to move to a bigger house, and some renovations are a possibility to make our new house fit to our family. Thanks so much for showing this. Really cool.
Thanks! It wasn’t too bad because we have a basement where I could hang out during the day with the baby. But the contractor did an awesome job of containing debris because they knew we had a newborn. It was pretty expensive but we were able to finance it with a home equity loan.
Looks amazing!! Any troubles with having the Reno happen and having baby around? We’re also due in about 6 weeks and starting a similar scale project in our home.
Thinking about doing this but by time I decide too there will be no need cause my kids will be grown and the house will be quiet🤣🤣🤣that big wall in now a canvas
Very nice . I loathe the mezzanine in my house. The intrinsic value wears off quick and leaves a a lot of room with no real functionality. Awesome job .
@@laurensmoneymindset Hi! Our house is the same exact model as yours and we are planning a similar conversion! Could you share how much of the $18,000 went to the permit? Thanks!
@@laurensmoneymindset - Hi, what state are you in and why permits if its inside the house and it doesn't have a closet? I thought permits was when a closet is built and you're trying to change the specs of your house at the county recorders office so it adds another bedroom to the house. I'm in southern California, have a loft with a low wall instead of rail and im looking to convert it to a bedroom as well so i was looking up if i could do it myself. Good video though but way more money than I want to spend. I would have to see a break down of $18k and how they get to that price. Some construction guys charge more than a Neurosurgeon ; )
Hello would you mind sharing the cost of the renovations? The product and labor? I want to do the same just wondering how much everything would run us. Thank you
That's very cool, the room looks like it's always been there! You mentioned future owners several times, are you planning to move in the (near) future?
We love this house but the public schools aren’t great in our town so we will stay here for a few years at least but plan to move to a better area before Aria starts kindergarten.
Lo Mills How you doing? We have a house with 3 bedrooms a big loft ! It was listed as 4 bedroom! Do we need a permit to make a real bedroom in the loft?
No the HVAC guy said we didn’t need to but that room tends be a little hotter/colder than the rest of the upstairs since it’s so small. We also only have one thermostat for the whole house so we need to get zones put it so we can control upstairs vs downstairs temp better.
This is exactly what I want to do with having a baby on the way I got kicked out of the bedroom I was using as an office. I want to close in the loft so I can use it as an office too because of HIPAA I need to be behind a closed door.
I've been watching all of your videos so far and maybe I missed it but did you end up getting pregnant naturally without the clomid? Do you think that those "conception" vitamins played a part in you conceiving that month because you mentioned in a video that you switched prenatals. Sorry if I missed it!
No worries! Yes, I got pregnant without clomid. I don’t think it was the vitamins because I had only been taking them a short amount of time when I got pregnant. I think it was the thyroid meds that made the difference!
Really? I think it looks better enclosed. I have one and lofts suck, if you are using it for a sleeping area or extra TV room the sound and light travels too much making it annoying.
Common questions:
How much did it cost? We paid $18k.
What size was the loft? 12ft x 13ft. We left a 45 in. hallway.
It looks really good as if the home was built that way from the start. Thank you for posting!

This looks totally awesome! Way better with the wall up instead of he railing. Great job!

Thanks for sharing! These open lofts over looking the living room are aesthetically pleasing, but what the heck do we do with that area???
Looks really good for the space you have to work with. It looks even better from the living room, definitely makes it feel finished
Thanks! I agree! Seems more like a house now 😁
Looks so good! Especially from the living room. Definitely added value to your house.
Thanks! We hope that’s the case!
Would’ve gone with a pocket door for ultimate space saving. Fantastic job though!

did you need any kind of permits or anything like that for this project??
I have the same thing. However, you are building a wall. I'm knocking mines out for the open concept with banisters
Hi there!! We are in the planning stages. We were wondering how much it cost you?
Love it.I always thought those loft areas were a waste of space, Very nicely done. Amazing how the new hallway does not make the area feel enclosed or small at all. i agree with you-looks even better than i was imagining.
Looks great and great use of space.. Did you ever consider doing a pocket door so you wouldn't have to worry about which way the door opened?
Thanks! Great idea. We thought of that after construction was finished 🤦♀️

Did they remove any drywall or ceiling drywall to put in the framing?
Nope!
Do you mind me asking how much it cost you to do this? Thanks

It was annoying at times but not terrible. Worth it now that it’s done!

Thanks! Years later we are so happy with the decision!

It was more expensive than we expected..we paid $18,000 including permits

My dad ended up doing something like this because he needed more bedrooms. He extended to to the wall.

How you doing?
We have a house with 3 bedrooms a big loft !
It was listed as 4 bedroom!
Do we need a permit to make a real bedroom in the loft?
Looks great!!!!
Thank you!!
Nice house, what we called design like inside house loft/bunk office setup. Am looking to make a same setup in my new house.
Where did u get the scaffold?
You should have gone with slots with glass to allow natural light in..looks like a big blank blob
Do you mind sharing what the price was? I love this idea for our loft.
We paid $18,000. Over a year later now and we feel it was worth every penny!
love the video
How much it cost?
Its a wood wall?
How much does it cost to complete the project
We paid $18k
What's the story with the Abe Lincoln picture?
What about the Hvac vents you didn't move those?

made the house darker
Does this require a permit?
We had our contractor pull permits because if you don’t it impacts resale value
Plaster…?
looks like shit. had a open floor plan upstairs with light, now it looks dark and old. dont need walls to have a office/work space. should of left it
Is that your professional opinion?
