He really is being optimistic. When the GDR and FDR reunified. The East Germans, yes were behind West Germany in many aspects. But having lived in the former GDR and having been to the DPRK a number of times since 2002. The North Koreans are even decades behind what the east Germans were in the 1980s. While its also true that China and the DPRK are allies. Today the Chinese leadership see the North Koreans as more of a problem than anything else. I remember a few years ago meeting a retired official in Beijing who said North Korea makes China look like a free and democratic state.

Sure cutting out red meat and eggs may lower cholesterol, there’s certain nutrients that can only be found in animals/animal byproducts. They may be healthier for the first 10 years but mark my words within the next few decades we will see the drastic damage caused by long term vegan practice proving it to be a non viable lifestyle choice.

But having lived in the former GDR and having been to the DPRK a number of times since 2002. The North Koreans are even decades behind what the east Germans were in the 1980s. While its also true that China and the DPRK are allies. Today the Chinese leadership see the North Koreans as more of a problem than anything else. I remember a few years ago meeting a retired official in Beijing who said North Korea makes China look like a free and democratic state.
