Great video! Nice walk around, I like your casual and chill aproach👍 I’m travelling to HK in a few days. I’m actually booked at Travellers Hostel for two weeks!:) My first visit was back in 93, haven’t been there since 2018. Can’t wait😄
Thanks so much for your comment. I lived in Travellers hostel from 96 till 2000 was great back then, there used to be a big open area where everyone would hang out and was run by a Filipino lady and her English husband . Not like that any more 🤣
Well, next time I'm in Hong Kong, will be high on the list. And look. I already have a handy guide now. Oh, and on a different computer doing this, so not a Swedish Keyboard. Hence. '
planning a 10-nights trip to HK during april/may 2025 and I would like to stay in chungking mansions for the time - can you pls recommend a decent hotel/hostel and would you recommend staying there?
Not sure if you saw but on my channel I have an airbnb video. The Airbnb I stayed in was close to Chungking Mansions and was small but nice. The link to that airbnb is in the description of that video. If you really want to stay In Chungking then I recommend Travellers Hostel in A block. It's about the best one. Thanks for the comment
@@RickMeetsWorld oh yes, I've just finished watching three of your HK videos; it's so cool! After checking your room out, I think I'll get an Airbnb too! But I might have a +1 with me so still not sure. I've been the biggest fan of WKW's Chungking Express so I would prefer staying near Kowloon/Tsim Tsa Tsui and Chungking Mansions
@@arkadeepmitra3429 thanks for watching. Chungking Express is my favourite film, I love WKW and Christopher Doyles cinematography. The air bnb I stayed in is walking distance from Chungking. Check bookings dot com for rooms and go with the one with the highest amount of reviews and highest score. I think it is actually Travellers Hostel, I spent 3yrs in travellers hostel back in the late 90s was very different back was a communal area and you make lots of friends I don't think it's like that now. The is a great video on RUclips with Christopher Doyle and Anthony bourdain about Chungking Mansions and Chungking Express I recommend watching it.
@@RickMeetsWorld thanks for the advice, man! such a pleasure meeting a fellow WKW worshipper. I hope back in the the late 90s you got to see faye wong perform live atleast once! btw do you prefer staying in kowloon or hong kong island?
@@arkadeepmitra3429 For me I am a kowloon boy, I feel Kowloon is the real Hong Kong. The Island is more finance and for the wealthier people. For me I love Tsim Sha Tsui, Jordan and Mongkok and no I never got to see Faye Wong in concert hahahah I wish!
Yeah don't worry it's super safe. Great cheap food in the hallways too and it's in a great area. Take a look at my other video about filipino Sundays too if you can. ruclips.net/video/uUxNc49ehpI/видео.html

I lived there for several months in the 90s. thought it would of been pulled down by now. It looks exactly as it did then. As you mentioned the spice aroma hits you.....loved the place. I stayed in the same hostel as you and often used the travel agents directly above. Don't know if it is still there. Thanks for posting certainl was a trip down memory lane.
@@davidbateman-fe8vu yeah I lived there on and off from 96 to 2000. I stayed at travellers hostel. We have even known each other lol. Where you in the same hostel?
This video is great! I love your energy. I just posted my first video and I would like to build the same confidence that you have recording in public and speaking with the people I meet 🙂
I actually used to work security on the doors of bars and night clubs in wanchai area of hong kong. There are lots of Nepalese mafia/gangs but I personally never had any problems with them.
Do you which hostel your staying in and for how long will you be there. It's not so bad I lived in that building for years. Elevators are a pain but it's situated in an amazing part of hong kong with easy access to every where. Hopefully you will just be there to sleep lol
@@RickMeetsWorld Hi its in E block . furthest from main entrance . i am paying USD 18 a night ...private room but with shared bath . its called New yan yan . reviews aint good and i tried cancelling but its paid and there is no refund . More to come! But Chungking is an amazing building it's like being in little India
Reminded me a lot of Parque Central in Caracas.
Haha really let's go do a video there😜👍
What a place! I am fascinated by these weird buildings🤩
It really is! It's hong kong but feels like your in India
Good video
Thanks for the comment. It's a unique building especially it's in the heart of hk

Been there and it is dirty and feel uncomfy as hell
Yeah it is dirty and very humid and clamy. It's an interesting place to see though, especially in the heart of Hong Kong😂
200hkd a night, in a small cramped room. Shithole
Yeah and most even without a window. Airbnb I found was better value
