    I hope you enjoyed your day at the Processing Center! That looks like a big one! Yes… more paper, pencils and sharpeners! That’s exactly what I’ve tried to share. I’m going back tomorrow for a third shift! I’m bringing a third carload full of pencil packs with paper! I know it’s just a drop in the bucket but if we keep encouraging maybe it will make a difference! Thank you for sharing!

      YES!!!! I went home and gathered all the "extra" paper in our house and made lined-paper paper rolls, copy paper booklets, and pencil packs and took them in as filler onThursday. I had no idea how big the need was.

    Thanks for sharing, Robynn! I keep hearing of the dire need of paper and pencils. I’m volunteering this coming Friday at the Fullerton, CA center. Bringing with me an additional carload of pencils, sharpeners and notebooks.
    Hopefully, they will come in handy!

    Great to see you so happy and excited to be volunteering. I donated some fillers this year for the first time. I got some document bags from amazon (9.4×7.1 Inch) A5 size. I'm was able to make some booklet using blank copy paper with a card stock cover. I was also able to buy some loose leaf paper and just fold some in half an stick it inside for some extra paper. There is room to put some pencils, pens, erasers, pencil sharpeners, misc. in the bag as well. Mine all had school and art supplies. I wanted to do more but I ran out of time. I thought I'd share just in case anyone else wants to do it next year.

Mine have been processed in Atlanta, Charlotte and Boone in the past, but I'm about half-way between DFW and ATL, so never know! I sent a good bit of filler with mine...pencil packs and rolls of paper (used a gift wrapped empty toilet paper roll to hold). Wish I were close enough to drop more! TFS!

      @@mattmanandrobynn 🤔 well, that’s encouraging to know that some volunteers traveled 12 hours! I guess I will have to reevaluate my thought process, but I’m no spring chicken, like you, Robynn 😂. All year I had planned to volunteer, but when it came down to the wire, I thought to myself…you’re 69 and you’re going to drive a 13 year old car, by yourself, pay for gas at $3+/gallon and a hotel stay? What? Are you crazy? Well, the answer to that is “yes”, but by then I had talked myself out of it 😕. Of course, now I’m sorry 😢, but, I will do it next year (when my car and myself are a year older, 😂).

    • @mattmanandrobynn

      Great question! It's kind of up to each inspector. A lot of them get thrown away, several of them snap as you pull them off.... But I put them back in all the 5-9 and 10 -14 boxes. Rubber bands are useful and fun so I just put them back in the boxes but a lot of the volunteers at my station threw them away.

      Thanks Sarah! Filler is so needed anything is a blessing. Small plushies are really needed the size of beanie babies and smaller. Pencil packs of all sizes are very welcome, big full ones in zipper pencil bags down to two pencils and a pencil sharpener in a zip lock are scooped up as soon as we see them.

    • @sarahschreffler5407
      @sarahschreffler5407 3 года назад +1

      @@mattmanandrobynn SMALL plushies? For some reason I thought the larger WOW sizes were what was needed. I've been knitting cats that were about 2/3 the length of the OCC boxes but I have a pattern to make them smaller and maybe I ought to try that.

    • @mattmanandrobynn
      @mattmanandrobynn  3 года назад +2

      @@sarahschreffler5407 both are needed. Some boxes come in with large bottles of shampoo and conditioner and when those items are taken out we need those larger stuffed animals for sure! I would say while inspecting I needed a big plushie to fill an empty box once an hour and a smaller one to fill a half full box 3 or 4 times an hour. 😊 All your hard work will be very loved!!
