  • In this video I tell you about my experience driving the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy AWD over a week. I have always had a positive opinion of the Santa Fe however this solidified my opinion even more. The 2.5T offers a fun driving experience with the powerful Turbo engine and a snappy DCT. I will say this powertrain is not for everyone but luckily Hyundai has two more to choose from. I really like the Hybrid for what it offers in terms of value and efficiency. Combine this with the torque converted automatic and you have a very smooth driving experience with great fuel economy. Physical buttons are everywhere and overall ergonomics are good. The driver assistance technology is some of the best in the class. Even with a few downsides, I came away extremely impressed with the overall value. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section!

My neighbor just got one, and it's stunning to look at.

Nice and fair review. I bought a 2023 Santa Fe Calligraphy 3 weeks, 1,860 miles ago. I'm not at all bothered by start/stop, but don't commute and avoid cities. Engine and transmission are great, averaging about 25mpg. My only complaint thus far is that the outboard armrests are too small and hard.
I have no need for a 3rd row, and I don't like the look of the new model. Literally prompted me to buy this while I could get one. $3,500 below msrp using Costco auto and Hyundai rebate. I'm glad I bought it, and I would buy it again.

I have costco. I thought Hyundai manufacturer
is not covered in Costco or is it covered?

I am happy with my 2023 Calligraphy. Traded up from 2018 Ultimate and love it. As others have said, its an affordable Genesis. 😊 I looked at the GV70 and found many of the features and cabin materials in the Calligraphy for less money.
The on/off issue is annoying. But its already routine for me to turn it off as i press "accept" on the center screen.
But the pickup is great and its very quiet on the highway.
I am not a fan of the 2024, so glad i got this one while i could.
Thanks for all the vids you done on the 2023.🎉

I have my 2023 Santa Fe calligraphy for just over a year now. Shimmering silver. Love this suv! It’s a poor man’s Genisis. 😂

I agree with you on that. It's a more attainable Genesis GV70 2.5T Advanced for way less $$ with more interior space & cargo space

Thanks for the good review. I enjoyed it. I bought a Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy 9 months ago. It is ultra comfortable, spacious and a beautiful smooth, luxurious ride.
The tech is brilliant and it's the best car I've ever owned and driven. It gets great fuel consumption figures averaging around 7 litres per 100 km around the city, but often drops below this if I just cruise languidly. Heaps of room for my tennis equipment as a tennis coach. My only reservation is that the 1.6 litre turbo engine does have to rev high if you accelerate hard.

Hyundai doesn't sell a hybrid Calligraphy here. The Limited trim is the highest trim for the hybrid model

What car manufacturers need to do is to make that auto stop start option disabled from the factory and if you want to use it, press the button …..not the other way around

Disable my stop start button right after starting car every time.

I am looking at getting the Santa Fe Calligraphy trim bc it's equally as nice as a Genesis GV70 2.5T (which is the same or a similar engine as the Santa Fe Limited & Calligraphy with more HP) for way less $$

The only point to consider is the platform configuration. All Genesis models are RWD based. The Santa Fe is FWD based which will give a different driving experience among the other differences in platform tuning. Both are great options but the Genesis should drive "better" as a whole. The Santa Fe should have a larger interior though due to this design.

@@CarsMadeSimpleYes but the price is also a big factor for me as a first-time lessee/ leaser & the GV70 with the same features as this in the 2.5T Advanced or Sport Prestige package is more expensive in the MSRP so it would be more expensive for a lease. I also can't find one in a color combination that I like in local inventory near me. So that's why this Santa Fe Calligraphy trim feels like the better value for the money overall

Can you have a mechanic permanently disconnect the on and off engine stop button?

My 2002 Avalanche died, and I’m drawn to the Palisade and the Santa Fe (Calligraphy models) Parking Assist and massaging seats seem like a dream. Tell me pros and cons please.

It depends how much space you really need/want. The Palisade will offer more interior room for cargo and passengers. The next generation Santa Fe is right around the corner and will offer more room than the current model with next gen technology also. The powertrains for the next gen Santa Fe will be carryover but I believe there will be an option to get a Hybrid Calligraphy if you are interested in going that route but the 2.5T will be the standard engine. There is tons to go over but hopefully this is a start!

@@CarsMadeSimple thanks. I’m a big mileage driver, and prefer lots of metal around me for long distance driving. I haven’t owned a standard size car since 1980. Due to arthritis, I am attracted to cars with parking assist. I cannot stand around waiting for someone to pull away after parking too close to my door. I also like the seat massage for those long drives over 1,000 miles. Suggestions welcomed. Got last car to 420,000 miles. I want a car that lasts.
