    I'd be interested in using snaps that are hidden... I imagine that I'd have to reinforce that "single fabric layer"... what would you suggest? an additional layer of fabric? additional layer of backing (heavy)? I would want to avoid unnecessary wrinkles after a wash or few.

      you can probably do interfacing in the pocket portion as well to stabilize it.
