Seems like the state if Michigan is overstepping in everything these days. If one cannot do what they wish with their own property without the state getting involved do they really own that property??
Just because some moron already tried to destroy the wetlands by all the trash that and nastiness that they bought there for dirt cheap to build your OWN personal pond but it's still on wetlands dumbass. Sounds to me like you wanted to buy cheap property and redo it and make it into some very expensive high-end property.... But y'all forgot to look at the zoning and the wetlands and so forth. Listen to the ecosystem professionals. Follow the law. We live right in one of the biggest swamps in the country one of the biggest wetlands in the country you probably wouldn't find you many sympathizers anywhere else in Michigan.
The Democrats in Lansing want complete centralized control over every aspect of the individuals, wealth, private property, rights, labor, and more important the individual citizens, liberty, and freedoms that’s what this is all about. They want to be able to steal your property via government policy and laws in order to control you the individual citizen that’s why last November they passed new laws to give them the ability to rezone private property for government use a.k.a. government theft to destroy the suburbs
@@RealDaveBondy If you are looking for stories similar to this let me know how to contact you. Nobody seems to listen, and our crooked officials are rude and nasty.
Why did you ask permission? Just do it, feign ignorance, plead forgiveness. If that fails, have it declared a wet land, and turn it over to a conservatoryprogram.
Not far from you down here by Otter Lake. I wonder why so few people demand the Court recognize the Inalienable Rights of Citizens. Inalienable Right of Personal Property and Privacy are up here and the State is stepping on both. I'd understand if the pond represented a threat to neighboring properties if it had a retainer wall or other such circumstances which could lead to flooding. We have an old springfed pond and if we choose to dig it out we won't involve the State we will involve friends with heavy equipment.
I got a letter ("formal warning") from the DNR...accusing me of baiting for deer. Claimed it was observed on a routine fly-over of the area. The date given, was the same day that one of my bird feeders had gotten knocked or blown off its hook and spilled out.
You may want to look closely at the pond. Sometimes protected amphibious species are discovered. I’ve heard of this happening. I think the Great Blue Herons unintentionally transplant these protected species. I’m sure you understand how this can happen. 😉
Definitely sounds like you and your brother are trying to do the right thing. But for what it’s worth…. For every well intentioned person trying to improve the environment, there are probably 10 trying to illegally dump, or divert a waterway, block access to a shoreline, etc. I doubt your pond issue is the at the top of the list of things the state is trying to address. Unfortunately, someone brought you guys to the state’s attention. Hope you get a resolution soon.
You do not need a permit from the sate to construct a pond in Michigan. You cannot mess with any existing wetlands without red tape and reviewing the DEQ checklist as mentioned in the video, sounds like the original wetland was fine to turn into a pond from the old ruling though so you should be fine. This doesn't help the people in the video, but if you live in MI and want to build a pond make sure you build it in a spot that could not possibly be misconstrued as anything even resembling a wetland, marsh, soggy area or even a damn mud puddle. Take lots of pictures in all seasons and document the crap out of it before construction. They are also know to use satellite images to compare to past images to find you and call it an "anonymous tip".
Wow my neighbor in Montrose twsp submitted a plan for his pond got it oked then built it way bigger almost twice as deep he got away with it must know someone on the board !

Stop paying your taxes and you'll find out who really owns it.
You don't own your property. If you stop paying property taxes (aka lease fees) they will take 'your' property.
@@michiganmotorsports well, sign the petition to axe the tax in Michigan 😊😊
Fill a pond to preserve a wetland. What am I missing here?
It makes no sense
Reason.comon sense.
Exactly the land hasn't changed it's still an effing wetlands

This is what happens when you live in areas governed my Democrats.
Slip a few 100's to the inspector that's how it usually in Michigan, politicians call it lobbying.
Somebody is after the property. If you have to fill in the pond. Do it, then log the whole property bare.
great point

I recently talked to a local escalator E.G.A.L.E is out of control. BTW bet that was a woman neighbor worried about having mosquito problem.
It probably was
All departments are out of control. But wait, it’s Pete Buttgig to the rescue!!
@@kentemple6498 Yea, the very last thing Michigan needs.

The reason for state of mich over steping over reached is democrats socialism government we have in the state , g Whitmore more hired your dnr people!
You'll get ticketed in Michigan for baiting if the dnr sees deer eating from your bird feeders.

If the deer can fly up to my feeder they can have all they want
Press charges for trespassing.
A man made pond on your property is not necessarily a wetland it there was not a wetland there before. Make it make sense.
Its the gubamint@@Aaron-lx2og it'll never make sense

They have been ordered to fill in the pond. How would that protect your protected amphibious species?
They don't want you to have your own free fish.
