- Australia is absolutely one of our favorite places to go, and this video is a very great representation as to why we love it so much! Cootamundra was a blast this year, and shortly after that we toured some shops and Arthur at Tuners Edge was kind enough to let us have a meet and greet meet at his shop! We overflowed his lot almost instantly and had to move to a new spot! A ton of crazy cars and awesome people showed up in Melbourne. Thank you to everyone who showed up at the meet, and thank you everyone for watching!

im just going to toss this out there. theres off the shelf mass produced and aftermarket parts ala Summit. (great stuff no doubt) Then there is specific parts from the original manufacturers or custom short run aftermarket parts by specific shops or race teams... that you cant always find at the walmart of online autoparts ordering. The shop we saw today is one of those places like Mooneyes was back in the hey day. Full of stuff you aint gonna find at wherehouse parts suppliers.

How about a crank for your four rotor build? summits gonna laugh your ear off. Australia is like some weird alternate timeline of America. The unique muscle cars and sweet Japanese car market make for a really really dope and unique car culture. I would love to go live there for a while just to drive some new cars.

Shane Von Harten the phase 3 was faster. Some had a factory option diff making it faster.
Chargers only had a 3speed making them quick on take off but the clevo always won in the end. I grew up around these cars, never saw a charger within a length of a phase3.
Similar to f6s and gts. You have to wind up the f6s to keep up. Currently have a gt.

@Kenneth Jones that gives me a bit of solace but unfortunately I believe and fear that is a minority and is only really something that started picking up in the last decade (the people who originally started doing this earlier than that were far fewer). The "drift tax" (or "JDM bro" tax) is real, especially for the cars that started off as not being so rare or valuable but eventually became quite rare to find in either good condition or stock.
@@RockSolitude they cost that much because the import laws have changed in USA. Yanks can now import them and in a few years can leaglly register them where they couldnt before. They are buying up all imports worldwide and putting them in storage for the next few years. Because supply and demand the prices have sky rocketed.

Very impressed with the r33 gtr running a stagea automatic. I was wondering if anyone had used one for a street/strip build. I thank the vl scene for developing the jatco auto for strength.

Rob G i know that the jatco box is used in many builds but in gtr builds i see more th400 and powerglides. I wonder if the overdrive is implemented or reverted to a 3 speed. Perhaps a manual valvebody? Is an auto ecu used or the engine ecu using an ignition cut during shifts.
John Gargya i'd say iterlinked. Seems like a manulized valve body.
The VLs came factory with 4spd Jatco and a factory ecu. They work well. Have had a couple. You can go manual valve body as well. Many years of RnD in them. Mazda guys use the 3 spd versions all the time too. If you're keen give KEAS automatics a call. They're into them pretty good.
This bloke is awesome. Me and my mates back in the 80’s and early 90s used to talk about cars and what way we could make it go faster. I could listen to him all day and chat.

Feel sorry for you man, you probably walked straight past a few xr6 turbo's capable of running 8s which would smoke half the cars in this video. It's the only decent engine designed and built in Aus within the last 20 years from the ground up and was the last ever to be. If you come back, you should check out Dyno Mites drag car, 6s capable Aussie engineering.

That single cam monster turbo'd 3L RB engined VL is just awesome - the easy traction loss at 100kph (62.1371) on the freeway is testimony to a great build.
Damn, good turnout. There were some heavy hitters at the meet and greet. I think that was the black Monaro which won King of the Street(?), also the orange Mustang is famous around here one of our fastest street cars, and the yellow V8 Scorpion I've seen around a few times.

Aussies have been doing RHD conversions on American cars since the early 50s that I know of 1000s of USA cars have been done since then and anything built after 1989 has to be RHD to be registered anything older can be driven as LHD legally for the guy in the video talking about the white Corvette.
I used to convert corvettes and trans ams, chevs etc....it was an awesome job!
