We had everything from 4cyl Subaru’s to Big Block Malibus, and BOY was it entertaining. The cops were even cool enough to let us finish the final race! That’s what I’m talking about!

yea he was a genuine nice guy that deserved it. He had what it took to win on the day. Thats what it should be about. Personally I think it should be no trailers. Race what you drove in as it left. The rest is drag racers hijacking the sport . Thats the way we used to race. Rolling all night with your woman from servo to servo.

Its tough for RWD to beat AWD. During the runs, you can clearly hear wheel spins from all those rwd.
AWD is a huge advantage in drag racing if you don't break your drivetrain launching. It's way cheaper to have 4 normal tires than 2 huge drag slicks that you have to tub for. And you get the same grip but even more control. Like I said if it wasn't for breaking your drivetrain on sticky launches, AWD would be better in every aspect for drag.
I did not feel it right at all to even allow an AWD against a 2wd in these conditions period. It's a completely different class.
That's their problem for choosing a heavy ass RWD platform and bringing it to street digs.

You are supposed to make it inconsistent. Its to pull the real racers out of the ducks. Anyone can race a full tree, its hard to get a good time on an instant light though.
That really doesn't matter. You go when the light shines. people jump because they are anxious. You must not race much on the street like that. I'm not being a dick with that comment either. You have everyone watching, money on the line, out in the desert, prep isn't the best, ground sucks because of all the sand blowing, (i know because I live here) heart is pumping, windows, up,you are trying to get the jump on the next guy before you jump the light..It's a rush bro so yeah it's gonna happen sometimes more often depending on who has done it more.

Bolt on gtr's are no joke.
nope. out of factory they can run flat 11's on stock tires with a good 60ft. FBO they can do low-mid 10's and with DA's/slicks, they can get into the high 9's. The guy was on stock tires but with E85 so he was most likely running consistent low, maybe mid, 10's. The GTR is great at being extremely consistent with times.
With that being said, it's safe to say that the STI was very much a 9 second car. But as a counter argument, the guy drove 3-4 hours on stock tires and was running probably low 10's consistently with those same tires.

Im from Texas and i have never heard of this. Street racing has always been about running what you bought. Trailered cars only meant more money was involved.
DGOfTheCentury I live in Texas too... I retired from street racing, but most of the time if it came on a trailer it was usually at the track 1/8 miles. Mainly because we would run from the police to different spots all night. Sometimes we would highway race in Saturday's after we meet off 635 and they would bring trailer cars. Those were for big money minimum 5K.

no that's not always true, if the RWD car gets a decent launch and has traction i have seen plenty of times RWD cars drive around AWD cars. it's all on that 60 foot.

I thought I saw the same, I slowed it down to .25 speed and the scooby jumped then the Camaro, looks like the driver of the Camaro saw the Scooby move and went as a response. They both jumped but looks like the scooby jumped first.
Put the video in slowmotion and you´ll see it. If you want to, download the video and you can make it even slower in sony vegas.
