Retekess now has a RUclips channel. Here is the link: ruclips.net/channel/UCs2x8J5uLwW_WHnjYE7NLXwfeatured
Iam considering buying one! I am also considering another Retkess am,fm sw! Thank you this review!
Tom, I got mine yesterday after seeing your video about it last week. I got it for 9.99. The radio blew me away on all 3 bands. Also the sound is incredible. Only thing I didn't like is that the dial indicator seems to be accurate at the bottom of the indicator, not the top. Thanks for the recommendation.
That is awesome!
Got mine at 9.99 lighting deal after your video last week, my first retekess, been playing with it for 2 days straight. Fm is great!, been getting good dxing at night on am. Wish it went lower on sw, but have been able to pick up some stations, absolutely love it, thanks for doing the short video about it being a lightning deal.
Good catch.
I just ordered one . I will compare this radio with Tecsun R-909 that I own.
Thanks
The price goes back up?!?! That’s called the “Todderbert Effect”. The radio itself looks good. The frequency response could go down to 5 or 6. There aren’t many stations above 18.
Noise is a great problem. My biggest noise offender is actually our new washer. Otherwise, computers, modems etc. actually bother things pretty badly. I usually have to go out to the work shed to listen to the radio and it’s just far too cold for that.
I am amazed that you could not receive any radio stations on sw from usa ! For example, here in belarus i can receive wrmi from florida, usa on 15 mhz during day time or at around 23.00 belarusian time, also overcomer with brother stair in english from usa, wbcq sometimes on sw 9 mhz in different languages and in english also from usa, knls alaska, usa, from madagaskar in russian on sw 9 mhz at 21.00 belarussian time, wwcr at 23.00 in english from usa on sw 15 mhz, voice of america in english 17.00-19.30,21.00-1.00 belarussian time on sw 15 mhz,and china radio and radio rumania in english and in russian and bbc from uk in english on sw on different frequencies... You need to try listening to sw over and over again,24 hours a day, and especialy in the evening and may be you can receive any sw stations in usa. It is my advise to you.
At night time it might be better on the limited SW Bands even though Shortwave reception has been poor lately. For 10 bucks it is a good buy. Thanks for the post.
Yeah I agree
Just checking now it's running for 17.99 right now. I'll wait a little and see if I can catch the deal. Nice review. It definitely seems to have good sound quality.👍
Thanks for the update. Maybe my review drove up the price. LOL
@@hamrad88 😆👍
Say it with me: "Rhrett-A-Kess" Like, "rett-a-kiss"
You are 100% correct. Jus cant remember. Getting old is hell! 😂
Or I always say re-TEK-kiss.
Check out the Raddy RF-L3 radio. I bought one and can`t believe how amazing and useful it is for power outages.
Thanks. I will check it out.
@@hamrad88 Tom, unlike all the other emergency type radios the Raddy has a separate aprox 8 x 5 6v 3w solar panel on a long cord and four 18650 batteries. I connected a USB AA battery charger to it and it charged my AA batteries fast and would have no issues charging a phone or running any USB devices. Reviews say the solar panel charges the unit in 4 or 5 hours but I haven`t tested this because my nephew`s kid would quickly destroy it if I left it outside. It has three light bulbs on very long cords and the built in lights are incredible. The speaker is the loudest I`ve ever heard in a portable radio. The radio works fine with the exception of some quirks with the AM circuit that I can live with for what it does.
@@baneverything5580 This looks very interesting. I think I will order one. Thanks for sharing.
Only covers 8-18mhz makes this radio useless for SW listening. There's quite a bit below 8mhz that you're missing out on.
Agree about the lack of shortwave coverage below 8mhz as there is much activity from 4mhz to 7 mhz!!
@@johnbeckham1483 there's some in 3mhz range as well.
I have one
I bought it from aliexpress china 12 usd
Working Very Good
Thanks for the report and have a great day.
Thanks❤
I have a question for you Tom. I currently have a LCJ 258 and I am thinking about buying the Retekess VII5. Would it be a worthwhile idea to do so? Your advice will be greatly appreciated. 📻
Yes, the V115 is a much better radio.
@@hamrad88 I've just ordered the Retekess VII5. Thank you so much for your advice. Have a wonderful weekend Tom. 📻
@@musicman195959 I hope you like it. It is a good starting shortwave radio.
Can you suggest any radio that can catch fm stations 60 miles away from that radio?
Many radios can do that but mostly at night and with an external antenna.
@@hamrad88 can you tell me name and models of few such radios?
@@bongtechnature Tecsun PL-660, PL-680, Pl-330, Pl-380 , RETEKESS V-115, TR618, Kaito KA29 and may more. Watch other videos for ideas.
@@hamrad88 thank you very much for the information.
I have Eton elite traveler , but it can not catch stations 60 miles away. which one will be better than this?
@@bongtechnature You need to have an outside antenna.
