Hi Tim, I just found your channel a few days ago and have watched all of your marvelous presentations. I am also interested in innovative record packaging and design so many items you have shown were a revelation. Thanks so much.
Thank YOU, Ronald. I appreciate the kind words. I will try and keep the videos coming, but I really don't make more than one every month, or two. Share away and thanks for subscribing!
Wow Tim, your videos never fail to entertain or impress me. Yours is definitely a favourite VC channel of mine. I'm all for you showing some CDs. I'm sure there will be something else you can talk about in your videos.
Super fantastic Tim. Looks like this vinyl technology is endless. I really love seeing all of these and I thank you very much for showing them all. I loved the hologram on the Rush album. Looked very clear. Happy Easter to you~ Rob/Boston
I except Tim. That would be nice. Have a wonderful day today. I hope the weather is sunny and about 15 degrees warmer than it is here. But I will make the best of it as always and I am sure that you will too. Thanks for the nice words again. ~ Rob
You mention Perfect Pussy's album is "Say Yes to Love" but the cassette in the picture says "Say Yes to Live" Just a minor note :) This was actually a really cool video - I had no idea there were so many liquid-filled records out there. I was familiar with the flopped Disney album, and I knew Jack White had been successful with one, but that was all I knew.
I have a rare R.E.M. 7" single for the song "Wanderlust" (b-side The Outsider f. Q-Tip) from the album Around The Sun (2004) It's a red vinyl with red & white sparkles inside but during the manufacturing process some copies had "red sparkles" stuck on the outside making it unplayable. Nobody noticed until after it was sent to stores. After hearing complaints from stores those copies were recalled & sent back to Warner Bros. However i managed to get a copy before it was taken off the shelf.
Congratulations you have the world's weirdest record collection! I checked to see if this was posted on April 1st because some of the things are way out there. Great video. Amazing to see.
Ooooh wooow...didnt have a clue about some stuff that you showed us...THANK YOU!!!! I AM HAPPY THAT THERE IS MORE PEOPLE WHO LIKES STUFF LIKE YOU AND ME ;-)
please note that the Chop Shop split record is an actual split record with two artists - one side is Chop Shop, the other side is Small Cruel Party - the split record is then split in half, making it a split Split record
Great video! That AR-stuff is so sick. Would definitely love to see some AR-stuff on Future Sound Of London and Ozric Tentacles vinyls.. bet that would be some mind blowing shizzle=D
Just found your channel today through Vinyl Eyezz, and I'm marathoning every video you made right now. Fascinating stuff man, thanks so much for sharing these oddities with us. Cheers from Holland!
Kesha, Chris Martin (Coldplay), Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Wayne Coyne, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Brian Chippendale & Brian Gibson (Lightning Bolt), Alan Polomo (Neon Indian), Erykah Badu, Daniel Huffman (New Fumes)
Great Video! On the topic of interactive records, I wonder if you've seen TV on the Radio - Seeds LP. It has a really cool interactive lyric book and cover.
Neurosis also released a record that also had a dvd that was intended to be played/listened along with the LP. I guess it enhances the audio experience. I've never listened to them together personally. Also, another interactive release is the Noothgrush/Suppression split 5" puzzle edition. The cover is a puzzle that can be assembled! i know of more random releases, i can't think of anymore off the top of my head.
Neurosis also made a companion record for their times of grace record by tribes of neurot called grace. To be played on different stereo sets at the same time. Each record complements the other record musically. Very cool
After seeing this video I bought Lazaretto and the Eno Hyde record, and they're wonderful! It was because of this video in fact that I found out that Karl Hyde did a record with Brian Eno - which is amazing considering the first incarnation of Underworld (Freur) seemed to be heavily influenced by Eno both in costume and sound. It's almost as if Karl Hyde has returned to his beginnings. Lazaretto is also a great recording, and the vinyl innovations aren't merely superficial. While listening, the particular things happening physically correspond well with the ideas in the music. It's a win/win situation. Incredibly pleasing!
I saw an article about Curtis Godino from Worthless making a limited run of liquid filled vinyl OST for Aliens, sold by MONDO. They are filled with green Xenomorph blood :]
I bought the Vio-Lence "Eternal Nightmare" sickbag EP when it came out. After a few months the 'vomit' inside the sleeve started to dry up and eventually just turned to a powdery substance. That was back in the 80s. PS Just pray one of my favourite bands don't catch wind of those scratch and sniff sleeves. Their first album was called Reek Of Putrefaction.
Humming Bird Of Death kick ass!!! Love em'! The band Spazz also came out with a novelty 1" record (unplayable) its still a silly little conversation piece! I believe that The Slight Slappers did the same thing with a 1" record. Also, i saw a post once that was a record that had multiple records within the album, i believe there were 3 separate sets of grooves that could be played, and 3 sets of center holes. But, you would have to have an unconventional turntable to be able to play it, i cannot recall anything about the record other than it containing multiple sets of circular groves within a 12" album.
Some great stuff here Gozer! Much appreciated video! What is the address of the Null website please? I'd like to fiddle with it! Also I would like the get hold of the Eno Hyde LP but not sure what one is the right one...what version of the vinyl has the Iphone hologram effects on it? WARPLP255X or WARPLP255...Also wondering how you get to hear about such releases? I don't know of any wholesalers that catalogue these type of releases all in one place. Thanks again for sharing this lot!
Jon Limbert It's an app you download, so really that is the important part. You could actually aim it at ANY album and it would work. It's just nice to hear the proper music when you play it
GOZER'S DEN [ArtsyFartsyTimo] Oh I see. Unfortunately I don't have an Iphone. Can I ask again how you get to hear about all these amazing releases? I don't know of any wholesalers that catalogue these type of releases all in one place.
GOZER'S DEN [ArtsyFartsyTimo] What sources do you mean? Any help would be appreciated. How do you find out what is being released so you can buy for a normal price? Most of the stuff you show is old & has risen considerably in price. I would like to buy future releases but how do I know what is being released & when? Are you saying you read every record company's website every week? Is there not a website that advertizes new releases available to record shops?
There is no central source. Really. I just am constantly reading websites and visiting blogs and watching the actual labels. I just recently joined a "vinyl collective" blog and am finding more people, which is good, because friends always send me links. Send me a DM. Maybe I can compile a list...
i used to have a single in the eighties that had a game on the b side god knows how it worked. Psychedelic furs had a single with a flexitrack built into the sleeve. dawn released some singles that were really eps and played at 33 and a third, but as some charted the single versions for jukeboxes played at 45 and were on blue pye. .
Cool video!! here are some of my multi coloured vinyls that I have Dave Mason - Marble headed messenger, Husky - Ruckers Hill, The Residents- Eskimo, Well fargo - Watch out.. Many years ago I was in a psychedelic band and I built a machine to projector liquid colors onto a wall kind of like Joshua light show from the sixties and I always thought they should make vinyl records like this pretty cool that they did!!! Please tell me more about the last one you use an I phone??
There's a release by DOPE LEMON titled "Smooth Big Cat that also has some vinyl animation known as a 'phontronic picture disc' as the discogs page describes it.
Have you seen the album cover for The Alan Parsons Project's Stereotomy? It comes with a plastic outer sleeve that's red on one side and blue on the other but otherwise transparent enough to see imagery and text from the cover itself. The interesting thing is the plastic sleeve cancels out some of the imagery and text on the cover. Parts of the central image on the front and back cover disappear along with the lyrics and credits on the back. Most interestingly the band name and album title are clearly readable when the sleeve is on (blue side on front) but when removed those letters are interspersed with other letters turning it into gibberish. But when you turn the sleeve around and put it back on you can read the title and band name again, but they're upside down. And of course the part of the central image on front and back that you couldn't see before is now the only part you can see and you can now read the credits and lyrics on the back. Naturally the two things that are always visible are the Arista Records logo and the barcode.
wow, that's one hell of a video. so many cool things... could be your best yet, but I guess I say that after every video. I'd love another comedy one too if you run out of things to talk about... I do look forward to the CD one as well. I loved this !
MIC2-MusicImage2Critic By: ZyeZhe - true. It would have been nice had they try to preserve it at least a little. Or mix the blood with something to make sure it stayed liquid
GOZER'S DEN putting oil in it wont dry out the blood... too bad it dries out :( for 2500$ is it worth to have it..maybe its cool at first time u buy it. but after a months is not worh to buy for 2500$. they should have think of preserving the blood to avoid drying. They never thought of that I think? they just want to put something and sell it (even they have purpose).
GOZER'S DEN Old video, old comment; but it would have preserved better if they sterilized the blood after sealing the record, and made sure the record was under a full vacuum inside. You could sterilize it with radiation which I'm sure would add greatly to the terror factor of the disk.
THIS is where I found that song by NULL. So glad I happened upon it - they have some really awesome songs, and like you mentioned - a really cool website.
A band called Spectrum (one of the main guys from Spacemen 3 (Sonic Boom)) had a blue liquid-filled sleeve just like that one, back in around 1992. Slayer had a CD they called a "blood pack" which had red fluid with little round clear pieces of plastic that had skulls screened on them. Another band called Jellyfish had a promo-only CD single for "Baby's Comin' Back" that was a "diaper pack"... looked like a diaper and felt like a full one. And of course everyone knows the first liquid-filled LP was done by Jack White on Record Store Day a few years ago.
I have the Spectrum LP and CD and they're nearly dried up now. My friend's did the same thing. Glad I came across your videos... I worked in record / CD stores for 25 years and I love cool packaging. I once took a ton of photos of cool stuff I own and posted them on a message board, but I lost the server space and photos. You've shown me a bunch of stuff I've never seen so thanks for taking the time to make these. Did you not show the inner sleeve of In Through the Out Door with the little dots you paint water on to color them, like those old weird coloring books from back then? Maybe I missed it / haven't come across it yet... doubt you didn't know about it already. :)
+st ko just in these videos. I have a lot of pretty basic stuff in my collection, but for this video channel, I thought I would focus on more unusual packaging and releases. Thank you for the kind words
Theres also one record by split entz that has an laser etching..what this is basically images like an normal etching but the difference is that the grooves are normal and you can still play it fine.
Cool vid, i wish i could afford collecting vinyls like these. Iam also really into these oddities. and who knows regarding the black hole one, mean, theres a few companies who reprint osts now, (thank god) and maybe, just maybe we might get to see that awesome liquid print that failed work. :D
So, how do you find out about all these pieces in time to purchase one? Or, how do you find out about these pieces at all?!?!?! I've been doing my absolute best to keep "in the know" about these kinds of records and i've only heard about a few of them. And, those were always after the fact, so the only way i'd be able to get my hands on any of them would be to pay top dollar on Discogs. Can you tell me your trick?
that is some wild stuff I knew theres some cool stuff you can do with vinyl but I did not have a clue you can do half of the stuff that was in this video that's some amazing stuff am about to press some vinyl up I might want to do the hidden track on the label any one know ant one who does that thanks
do you have access to any of these albums. happy body slow brain, or the liquid filled worthless? i'd like to get one in my hands. i could trade or purchase. i can send you my discogs id
Ethan Hood - I only have one of each that I showed. I suppose Discogs or eBay is the way to go. Sorry I missed this comment, somehow! I don't know how I miss so many comments
Great video as always, hope you'll talk about the music, cause to hear musicians talking about it is so annoying, just my opinion. Music lovers non musicians opinions are the best.
you get a playable copy of the record so you can spin that, but even though the blood vinyl is an actual pressing from the same plates, it is definitely hazardous
The blood is brown in the left record because there might be a small hole in the record somewhere. The brown color is a sign of oxidation.
ew
Another reason of why vinyl is so cool.
Excellent compilation! Glad to be part of it. Now I'm after that Greener Grass release...
+anonymousbrunette - thank you, again, for letting me use that clip!
Excellent video!
Hands down you have the best vinyl videos on youtube. I love it, keep up the good work man!
+inertlife - wow. thanks. I had to stop making videos for a while, but I hope to return in January, or so
+GOZER'S DEN Truly enjoyed!!
thanks!
Wow Tim, your videos never fail to entertain or impress me. Yours is definitely a favourite VC channel of mine. I'm all for you showing some CDs. I'm sure there will be something else you can talk about in your videos.
And, as much as I know you're a little reluctant, I'm with James about the comedy. ;)
I definitely have a ton of crazy CDs. I'll have to make a couple videos. And thank you!
I had to go buy one of those Hummingbird of Death split records. Record cost 7 bucks, the digital download costs $666.
no joke.
I can't be the only one who got sick when showing the Flaming Lips blood filled record.
+Robert Sagers Nope, you weren't.
Thats rightit was the two of you.
lol
menstrual blood is the worst
hella HIV lol have u ever seen that RUclips video of stephen drozdn from flaming lips shooting heroin
Super fantastic Tim.
Looks like this vinyl technology is endless. I really love seeing all of these and I thank you very much for showing them all.
I loved the hologram on the Rush album. Looked very clear.
Happy Easter to you~
Rob/Boston
Thanks, Rob. You are a such a good guy in the community. I always appreciate your comments
Thank you very much Tim. Coming from you this is very much appreciated~
Rob
Paneeks1960 See? You are always such a good guy, even accepting a compliment. Someday I will buy you a beer...
I except Tim. That would be nice.
Have a wonderful day today. I hope the weather is sunny and about 15 degrees warmer than it is here. But I will make the best of it as always and I am sure that you will too.
Thanks for the nice words again. ~
Rob
it's in the 90s here ;)
You mention Perfect Pussy's album is "Say Yes to Love" but the cassette in the picture says "Say Yes to Live" Just a minor note :) This was actually a really cool video - I had no idea there were so many liquid-filled records out there. A 3 inch can hold 30 seconds of music, in grind core some songs are 3 seconds like agoraphobic nosebleed, that means u can fit 10 songs on a side lol
+Joey Sendzik Actually its one song lasting 30 seconds on each side.
Robin Dreier
I know but Im saying if a grindcore band were to make one of these they could fit almost ten songs on one side which is pretty funny
Very interesting update! Thanks,
Great video as always!
thanks!
This video was so mesmerizing, Tim! loved it! I could've watched that ending Eno record forever! :D
Yeah, that Eno/Hyde is so cool
Thank you Tim for the video. It is interesting how both art and music can combine into one. The ENO and Hyde album case in point.
That Eno/Hyde is so freaking cool
Congratulations you have the world's weirdest record collection! I checked to see if this was posted on April 1st because some of the things are way out there. Great video. Amazing to see.
lol. thanks!
Great presentation, such items.
thanks!

please note that the Chop Shop split record is an actual split record with two artists - one side is Chop Shop, the other side is Small Cruel Party - the split record is then split in half, making it a split Split record
Orchid and Jeromes Dream released a split, the songs by one went inwards and the songs by the other went outwards. The actual vinyl is skull shaped.
cool - thanks!
Fucking love that split. One of the best hardcore releases ever imo. Some copies of the vinyl glow in the dark too.
Great video! That AR-stuff is so sick. Would definitely love to see some AR-stuff on Future Sound Of London and Ozric Tentacles vinyls.. bet that would be some mind blowing shizzle=D
Gosh the blood vinyl is insanely gross.
The hair vinyl topped that though. Nope. Nope. Nope.
+Ben Smith I think its made with real piss
+Alexco21 Yay!!!!!
Why no semen vinyl?
I couldn’t understand what the band was with the kaleidoscope website thing. What’s the bands name?
Best video ever. Whole new level of amazingness
+mrcolemr - thanks, man! I truly appreciate that
Bad-ass! I was totally unaware of liquid filled records until you video, G.D.
Thanks!
Just found your channel today through Vinyl Eyezz, and I'm marathoning every video you made right now. Fascinating stuff man, thanks so much for sharing these oddities with us. Cheers from Holland!
aw, thanks, man
These are stunning to look at, especially that blood record. I now want to find out who's blood it is hah! Great video Tim! - Tyler
I'll have to list it all here
Kesha, Chris Martin (Coldplay), Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Wayne Coyne, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Brian Chippendale & Brian Gibson (Lightning Bolt), Alan Polomo (Neon Indian), Erykah Badu, Daniel Huffman (New Fumes)
The best video I've seen in quite a while
Cool vinyls and cool videos!!!
+Madonna Philippines Collectors' World - the plural of vinyl is vinyl. ;)
Great Video! On the topic of interactive records, I wonder if you've seen TV on the Radio - Seeds LP. It has a really cool interactive lyric book and cover.
Chris Appleton Yeah, I show that in an earlier video (actually two different videos). Check out the animation video
Always just so freaking amazing, Tim. Some I knew about, most I didn't. Too cool.
Thank you!
Can we get a list of the songs used for each vinyl? That would be awesome.
The whole blood thing would be perfect for Ulver's "Blood Inside" :)
I was already impressed by the Rush pentagram but then I saw the Eno one and I was like whoa, you literally saved the best for last!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really mind opening video. Thanks!
i knew nothing about these kind of records..wow i knew about colored see through ones way back!! thanks for sharing!!
+Bikewithlove indeed!
Amazing records I never knew existed, and can't find.
+wrowe12 yeah, some very cool things
I recently got the album Reincarnate by Motionless In White which has blood printed in it.
Your channel is a fucking hidden gem, great job!
I saw an article about Curtis Godino from Worthless making a limited run of liquid filled vinyl OST for Aliens, sold by MONDO. They are filled with green Xenomorph blood :]
That must be a very resistant record then!
HonorNecris I own one of these!!
Really rad video! In the last part, with the augmented reality disc, could you tell me what kind of player you have the record on?
it might be an audio technica lp120 but I'm not really sure
Humming Bird Of Death kick ass!!! Love em'!
The band Spazz also came out with a novelty 1" record (unplayable) its still a silly little conversation piece! I believe that The Slight Slappers did the same thing with a 1" record.

That black hole vinyl reminds me of 70s band playing live with the trippy lava lamp background

slayer did the cover thing years ago but with blood.
New to me and amazing !
so, the do this kind of innovative vinyls in order to prevent illegal bootleg copies of their music, right?
no, vinyl is just awesome and you can do crazy things with them like this
Have you seen the album cover for The Alan Parsons Project's Stereotomy? I feel like my parents might have this album, time to go search through their collection!
Do you know who does the manufacturing for these?
Kari B I'd have to Google it, but I bet the information is on their website
you have a link for the video where its shown how the records are filled with the blood?
+deKassu There is a cool one that they did that shows them being filled. I only show a quick second in a video that we shot at DerekVon's house
hi i found a pile of old vinyls in pristine condition.lots of symphony ,beetoven, etc.how can i find out how much there worth.ty
Discogs
very cool, thanks!
this is so goddamn fucking interesting!! i never new that they made liquid filled vinyls!! and that blood one is BAD ASS!
are on of these still for sale on amazon or something
My picture discs have ridges like that on the label, is that anything? I don't want to try it unless it's sometging
wow, that's one hell of a video. so many cool things... could be your best yet, but I guess I say that after every video. I'd love another comedy one too if you run out of things to talk about... I do look forward to the CD one as well. I loved this !
You are always so kind. Thank you so much, and I'm so glad you are making amazing videos, as well
btw, James, I have a ton of CDs already set aside, but if you think of any CD designs I should consider, let me know what's in your collection
The Blood vinyl is cool. I think they should have add some additives to preserve the blood for discoloration... Oil maybe?
MIC2-MusicImage2Critic By: ZyeZhe - true. It would have been nice had they try to preserve it at least a little. Or mix the blood with something to make sure it stayed liquid

Those liquid discs are cool but i believe that will have problem if that liquid comes out by accident.
I've never seen the Spectrum/Spacemen 3 one. Now I must have one! ;)
I have the Spectrum LP and CD and they're nearly dried up now. My friend's did the same thing. Glad I came across your videos... I worked in record / CD stores for 25 years and I love cool packaging. weird and interesting, actually. I did show a paint by numbers thing, but from Golden Boots.
crazy collection you got there! nice presentation! Are you specializing on "unusual" vinyl and covers?
+st ko just in these videos. I have a lot of pretty basic stuff in my collection, but for this video channel, I thought I would focus on more unusual packaging and releases. Thank you for the kind words
you have a jaw-dropping collection wow
I bet that hair vinyl skips like crazy.
Great video. Man, the one browning blood vinyl though kind of makes me cringe, but still cool.
Desperation for novelty is buying a record and scratching it everywhere to smell poop.
I bet you managed to get the flaming lips 7" beer filled record from 2018 RSD
the brown blood thing with the vinyl, it could be that it has small air leak.
From which pressing plant are the liquid filled records come from?
how about the three sided me my self and eye de la soul record
The brownish looking blood was possibly exposed to more light at some point.
Theres also one record by split entz that has an laser etching..what this is basically images like an normal etching but the difference is that the grooves are normal and you can still play it fine.
+Robin Dreier Indeed. I'm thinking of doing a whole video on etched records
awesome stuff
I have the hologram edition of 2112 by Rush.
TjsWorld2011 good for you.
very cool!
thanks!
Cool vid, i wish i could afford collecting vinyls like these. Iam also really into these oddities. and who knows regarding the black hole one, mean, theres a few companies who reprint osts now, (thank god) and maybe, just maybe we might get to see that awesome liquid print that failed work. :D
I would love to have more. They are hard to get now that they are more popular
I just learned this existed. Why is no one doing this anymore?
So, how do you find out about all these pieces in time to purchase one? Or, how do you find out about these pieces at all?!?!?! I've been doing my absolute best to keep "in the know" about these kinds of records and i've only heard about a few of them. And, those were always after the fact, so the only way i'd be able to get my hands on any of them would be to pay top dollar on Discogs. Can you tell me your trick?
where do you find albums like this and are they expensive?
Yes sir, the blood record costs about 20k
that is some wild stuff I knew theres some cool stuff you can do with vinyl but I did not have a clue you can do half of the stuff that was in this video that's some amazing stuff am about to press some vinyl up I might want to do the hidden track on the label any one know ant one who does that thanks
do you have access to any of these albums. happy body slow brain, or the liquid filled worthless? i'd like to get one in my hands. i could trade or purchase. i can send you my discogs id
Ethan Hood - I only have one of each that I showed. I suppose Discogs or eBay is the way to go. Sorry I missed this comment, somehow! I don't know how I miss so many comments
Nice!
thanks!
boy did i pick the wrong video to watch with dinner
I'd be scared to have the liquid filled ones with my other vinyl
I got TMNT ooze filled 7 inch limited to 50 preordered!

Great video .
thank you!
11:05 The difference between a fart and poop is a change of underwear.
Great video as always, hope you'll talk about the music, cause to hear musicians talking about it is so annoying, just my opinion. Music lovers non musicians opinions are the best.
Wait so you cant play the blood vinyl?
+gpuppy1234 I think you can, it's just that you shouldn't haha. Bit of a bio hazard.
you get a playable copy of the record so you can spin that, but even though the blood vinyl is an actual pressing from the same plates, it is definitely hazardous
