As is well known, Constantinople is named after the city that was originally called Byzantium. Byzantium, in turn, is the ancient Greek city, whose inhabitant was Byzas from Megara. Byzas, before starting the research for the establishment of his colony, visited the oracle of Delphi, to ask for the necessary oracle on the most suitable place for colonization. The oracle, as usual, gave him a dark oracle instructing Byzantium to build the new city in the "land of the blind". Byzas after many wanderings found himself on the shores of the Bosphorus and sat down on a hill to rest and think further. Suddenly, he saw on the opposite side, on the European coast, an amazing location today's Constantinople, and he thought: "But, are people blind and do not build a city in this amazing place?". Then the oracle of the oracle about the "land of the blind" came to his mind and thus he decided to colonize Byzantium. That's according to mythology.

Istanbul is one of the best Citys in the World and one of the biggest Citys in the World. 🇹🇷🤘💪☝️
Constantinoupol will once again be hellenic🇬🇷💪 We will come at nigth when you sleep...
@@ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΣΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΟΥ-μ4ρ Loser, you can't even own this land in your dream! You come, we will not have mercy on you this time, Greece will belong to us as it used to be, and you will not even have ashes in this geography!
@@ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΣΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΟΥ-μ4ρ When you compare the current power and the two countries, Istanbul is 2 times bigger than Greece, which you think of both in terms of economy and population... I think a single town of Istanbul can occupy the whole of Greece)))
@@ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΣΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΟΥ-μ4ρ and as a character you always need the protection of others..you can't fight..you're not brave enough to fight..that's why you always complain about europe or america and beg for guns..you are afraid of the turks, your news channel your politicitican always talks about turkey to ... In the other parliaments of the countries, the networks complain.. your fear is obvious from everywhere.. and will you take Istanbul in this case? or Will the Turks circumcise you at the first opportunity?
@@Peyp59 nahh numbers doesnt matter when it comes fighting greece! History has prooved it.
Awesome content guys, cant wait to be there this Saturday to create and eat all the foods
instabul as i see it is very similar to athens. so much byzantium greek architecture. love from italy!
Nice little history lesson you gave. Sometimes I think your videos need a bit more of those cultural facts but I understand sometimes you might not know the backgrounds of places until afterward.
*Congratulations 250K* Well deserved. Roll on the next 250K
loving the videos mate... We go to oludeniz in July can't wait. Me and the wife trying to place your accent from in the UK where you from? Cheers
Love from Bangladesh🇧🇩🇧🇩
Hi all, i want to let you know that the "river" that you mention at 23:05 is nor a river but it's sea and it's called "The Bosphorus Strait" :)
Gorgeous city!! Love the video!
others obelysc I think of the same time/century are in Rome near the Colisseum, in Piazza del Popolo and via del Corso I don't know if they are one of the 2 that you mentioned :D loved Istanbul as well as Cappadocia, visited years ago!!!! love your videos and all the hard work you put into is very very appreciated ♥the music choice is always perfect
Hagia Sofia - at that time there were no structures of that magnitude in Europe ....a magnificent building.
Greeks did a good job
Because it was build by greeks, a Christian Orthodox symbol , stole by the Turks as they did half of modern day Turkey that use to belong to the Greeks. From Constantinople, the coast of Asia Minor, Ephesus, Pontus, Capadoccia etc.
@@Olympicspirit Am very aware of the history of Istanbul , Constantinople - capital of the Roman Empire and Byzantine before that still a beautiful building.
@@hasankilic9825 you said it yourself, by blood , lands that did not belonged to you meaning barbarians. But any excavation you do you find Greece everywhere, the greek ancient glory is burried in your soil.
@@OlympicspiritNothing is stolen, it is conquered by blood almost 600 years ago! and your so called asia minor 1.000 years ago!! Many civilizations have lived here in these beautiful lands and left a huge heritage. Not only Turks or Greeks but before them Romans, Assyrians, Hitites, Sumerians, Lydians,Troians etc and who knows will be the next. There is 13.000 years old civilization found who lived in famous Gobeklitepe in Anatolia. So stop spreading your stupid arguments. Your claims are so ridiculous and pathetic within ancient history.
I been to all these places in Istanbul a few weeks ago. The price for food and transportation are cheap . However, hotel and airbnb prices are expensive.
Hello, I love your videos! Also did you figure out what causes you your nausea/ health problems you talked about while in Houston?
