Thank you for showing this. I've never been to England. But from what I've seen from videos and English tv, I am enchanted by these villages. I've fallen in love with the country side. Thanks again from across the water.
Our pleasure! There are so many incredible places to see in the UK and Cornwall is full of amazing little villages and amazing coastline too. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and for letting us know that you enjoyed it. Take care. Rob
Wow - it is amazing that people are watching our videos in the USA. Thanks for taking the time to let us know that you enjoyed the video. It is so good to know where people are watching from.
We have seen these boxes being used in new ways in a number of places including for plants and seeds, tourist information, Defibrillators, arts and crafts. Thanks for your comment :)
We thought so too. The church yard contains the longest grave in the UK. The grave contains the bodies of 15 sailors who died. On the night of 1st February 1914 the Hera, a German cargo ship on her way to Falmouth was shipwrecked. They were buried head to foot beside a boundary hedge. The grave is roughly 30 metres long (98 feet) making it the longest in the UK. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video.
Great memories of this lovely village when we had a lovely camping holiday end of July 1981. We stayed on a small site with about 7-8 other tents paying 50p per night per tent. Hard to believe now but perfectly true with beautiful hot weather all week with tents all decorated with bunting for the royal wedding. Thanks for reviving lovely memories ❤
Yes, Veryan is such a charming and peaceful village! The round houses are so unique and iconic. It would be amazing to see inside them someday - they must be just as picturesque on the inside as they are on the outside. 🌿🏡🌸
You're welcome! Cornwall has such a unique charm with its stunning landscapes and rich history. Glad you enjoyed the tour! Do you have a favourite spot in Cornwall?
You can't beat an early morning walk to start the day and Cornwall has so many amazing walks to chose from. Thank you for watching and we really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.
on the island of islay off the west coast of scotland there is a medieval church at bowmore village which is circular, i asked the minister why and he told me so the devil can't hide in the corners,
Ah yes. Veryan's vicar and local land owner Jeremiah Trist had the round houses built at both entrances to the village. It was thought that the round shape would guard the village from evil as there were no corners in which the devil could hide! It's amazing that two ministers at opposite ends of the country thought the same thing. Thank you for watching Patrick and your comment is really interesting. Rob
There was one near where I used to live, sadly it was destroyed by lightening, the locals fought for it to be listed and brought back to it's former glory but it was turned down by the council.so sad ,it in was near midge hall near Preston..there are archive photos of it online x
That is a real shame. These buildings are unique and part of our local history and should be protected. Thank you for letting us know and we really appreciate you watching and leaving a comment.

@thewayfarerswalk I would love to visit Cornwall. When I was at high school in the 1970s I had a British school friend. His family came here to live from London . His father got a job at Auckland International Airport after working at Heathrow Airport. My friends name is Keith , and he would talk about trips his family would make on holiday to Cornwall.
Hi Wayfarers 🤗! I enjoyed your video of Veryan and it’s gems quite a lot and it was very soothing and calming, but for me (as in my own individual pov), no explanations or descriptions at all is just a little too little! I sure wouldn’t mind to learn what I see 😘! But don’t worry, you certainly earned my subscription anyway 🤗😘!
Thank you for taking the time to watch our Veryan video and for your valuable feedback. The video description contains information on the place we are walking around. Some people prefer info in the description while others like it displayed as subtitles during the walk - we try to switch it around on different videos. Thank you for subscribing 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Elvira. Cornwall is a place that just keeps calling you back for another visit. Thank you for choosing to watch one of our videos. Rob
Cornwall’s is littered with chocolate box houses and higgledy piggledy cobbled streets - We are so fortunate to live so close to such an amazing part of the UK. Thank you for watching Ann
That's an interesting observation! The thatching styles can vary quite a bit by region. Veryan's unique architecture definitely adds to its charm. Have you seen other thatched villages that you liked?
@@thewayfarerswalk a few - Dullingham near Newmarket has several thatched houses, it's rather beautiful. Aldbourn in Wiltshire near Lambourn has several
@@thewayfarerswalk there's a photograph of a thatched house in Rievaulx in North Yorkshire which looks like its got a winter duvet of thatch, it's that thick If you Google : thatched Rievaulx you'll see it
Ha ha from a distance,as walking down that small lane between two houses it looks like a lady or little girl sitting on the wall, and close up its ''a traffic sign,"

That's so funny! It really does look like a person from a distance. It's amazing how perspective can play tricks on the eyes. 😊
Georgian Era 1714-1837.
The distinctive round houses there are a real nod to the area's history. Thanks for sharing your insight!
