This was BY FAR the best video for changing out this transfer case. Clear communication, thoroughness on showing steps, good camera angles and lighting.
Great post. I will say I was able to pull the transfer case without removing the rear transmission support using a shallow 15mm 3/8 drive socket, 3" extension and flex head ratchet on a 2000 with a 5.3L gas engine.
Hadda go this route no one had the flex head
Where is the last screw ? Was it easy with a flex I’m yanking one from the junkyard
@@tmjs4545What’s a hadda?
I have never seen those snap rings come out of the tone wheel like that haha. That is crazy, thanks for the info!
The best transfer case replacement video I've seen. Nice video shots and clear voice. Thank you. I think I have the courage to do my own now, and save some money!
Thanks for sharing your how to vid , I'm dreading having to do this to my 99 yukon, your explanations make it easier for unexpected surprises,
is that large gasket the only seal between the transmission and the transfer case? im certain mine has gone bad as its leaking from that spot. thanks! using this video i think im ready to tackle my leak tomorrow!
Appreciate the video you’re great with video
Thanks for your videos
I have a Chevrolet Avalanche 2011 am going to replace a transfer case it’s making noise like grinding it’s no make any shift but needs to be in parking or neutral?
Thanks a lot
If I may...15 Sierra. Humming while driving. Did wheel bearings, new calipers and brackets, pads in rear. My neighbor said my transfer case is fried cause I cannot get it to go into anything but 2 wheel. And I drove by him, he said the hum was mid point of my truck. Thoughts? Thank you
Great vid man easy to follow to the point and in easy terms to understand great camera work solid professional you are!!!
There was a helpful video.😊
If my truck won’t go in reverse but it drives in limp mode would that be the transfer case
Great video
Who did you use for the reman transfer case
Thanks so much for the content!
Great job cheif
Did you actually get the warranty on a case that ran dry?!?
23:58 got me chuckling😂😂
I bet the reason why that's dry was the pump inside was rubbing against the case, and wore through, leaking fluid, little by little. Common problem
with NP transfer cases.
are all transfer cases for the 99-06 GM 1500 trucks the same?
JB this you?
@@bigsilva1596 ??
No they’re not, your transfer case has a tag on it with a number , you need to find one with the same number , usually a small circular red and white tag
@@Caseb711 Thanks. I ended up figuring it out after watching some videos. My case housing cracked and I needed to find a replacement and wanted to make sure different cases would work. I got lucky and found an entire working transfer case (supposedly) for $100 on marketplace that matched my 246 case #
Probably not like on his he got plenty of hand room the old model trucks got less hand room and more shit right in the way the plate under his trasfer case is the same though on the 98 his frames a little different though and mufflers who put headers on ours fucked it up cause that pipes in my way and all in the way of taking out the spark plugs
very good tutorial
Thanks for posting. You made it look easy.........
Great video.. TY
I had to cut my bolts for my transmission mount 😂 mines an 09 Silverado and the bolts were horizontal instead of vertical. The exhaust is right next to it so it didn’t have room to go all the way out and would have to take off the exhaust which I didn’t want too and luckily I found some extra old bolts and used the same nuts.
A little late but i had the same issue but just jacked the exhaust up enough to slip the bolt out then once down i flipped it around and put it back in on the other side
For a nissan ad wagon expert 2013 4 wheel drive which oil is the correct oils for the overall car from engine to transmission to rear differenal and tranfer case etc please.. I don't have the car manual
brother you can find everything you need online. just look up "nissan whatever diff oil, transfer case oil, etc.
@@lee4macsHis google is probably broken.
Any idea how close this is to a 98 Tahoe? Mine blew out yesterday lol
Well you can see he's got more hand room the 98 has more shit in the way specially the front driveshaft its not real good hand room on the 98 ones but once you break out one u joint it'll slip off then
Ours already had been replaced before from what i seen im gonna unhook it and just have 2wd
Thanks for posting this..
How similar is this to a 2007 Yukon?
I'm not absolutely for sure on this, but i think it would be very similar. Pretty sure they basically just redesigned the body and kept this same platform for 2007-2010 or whenever that was.
Are the milwaukee tools your using 12 or 18 volt ?
the gun looks like a 18 volt. the 12 volts are the smaller batteries. the 18 volts usually have the bulkier batteries. It also says M18 on the battery which is their 18V series of tools. :)
Please replace the batteries in your smoke detector lol
Where are your jack stands?
Why does he need jack stands
19:13 if not for this video I'd have spent another few hours trying to find this
There called needle bearings not roller pins
Oh well thats what happens when people sell a truck with no book with the truck if we knew we'd put oil in it
Who’s we?
