    What you mentioned in the beginning, Thorsten, about social media reminded me about a quote from a favorite comedian of mine, Mark Normand: Social media is like looking in the fridge over & over. You know there's nothing good but you check it so many times that eventually you start consuming things you don't even like.

    Very appreciated. As a younger man I was basically locked in our rehearsal room with the band. Internet wasn't even invented. We set our goals of becoming a successful band and worked hard at it. We made every dream we ever had come true, cause we felt it in our bones. As a photographer for the last 5 years I find I constantly "bothered" by all these sources of information and social media channels. Thanks for a kick in the right direction. And for the inspiration ;)

    I must admit to you first that I have wearily viewed your content for about three or four years. I purchased my first Leica, my precious M6, about that time. I say wearily because I'm naturally cautious when it comes to being influenced in some way or another. It's not to say I haven't found your content invaluable to my learning process, its just that I may have found it a bit overwhelming upon my initial discovery of it. This episode, however, was timely and most relevant to me at this particular time in my own journey, and I want to express my thanks and gratitude to you. Thank Mr. Overgaard, I'm happy I didn't give up on your expertise and valuable advice!

    So sage ... I applaud your point about not letting society drive you into the allure of being busy, without producing ... finished works. That, and the analogy to manufacturing, that you have to develop an inventory (archive) of (finished) works. Thanks for this one ... and so many others. ;-)

    Thorsten, this video is a timely discovery. You've really affirmed this path I'm on. At a crossroads, I hesitated and began working furiously on my archive. My partner became worried at my distraction from business, very worried. She doesn't see the whole picture, of how this archive meshes with my "main" business. Thank you for sharing the work you do.

      Sometimes you have to go back and review and accumulate what you have done. Especially in this time where machines tempt us to post and forget, post and forget, and then suddenly all that time went by being busy making nothing.

      Rich and famous is usually the route to unhappiness. Being talented and being able to communicate to many is one great ability and talent, but without skills on how to live a sane life, you end up a magnet for bad influences.

    I am in Constant Fear, when i see your Leica at the edge of the table, so near your elbow. I know you can probably afford a few more Leicas easily, but... accidentally knocking your Leica off the table is really not a good way or excuse to buy a new camera. Maybe put the camera somewhere safer? Thank you.

    • @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard
      @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard  4 года назад +6

      The Leica, if it drops, you pick it up and keep using it. One of the few cameras where you can do that. Dropped a few in action, but never from the table :-)

      And it looks like he has a noctilux on it too. I had to choose between a car or a Leica , of course I used my money intelligently and purchased an M10-D. I know they can take a beating(I used an M-3 for 15 years and it was made in 56) but I still treat it like a baby made of glass. Hell, I even have insurance, too, but I guess I think it might have feelings.

      Mostly LaCie, for no other reason than that I started using LaCie years ago and they haven't failed me. I would say that today most brands are quite reliable. Doesn't mean one can't experience hard drive failures (which is why one must back up), but it is rare.
