@@tggardeners404 I bet it would grow well for you although I don’t know how the amount of fruit would be affected. The chill hours recommended are based on what the tree needs to go dormant in the winter and if you don’t go below 10° Celsius they may not ever go dormant. That said, my trees haven’t ever gone fully dormant since I planted them in 2020 and I still get a decent amount of fruit despite that. Since the Anna apple originates from Israel, it handles heat really well.
@@tggardeners404 who knows! So many people told me I couldn’t grow apples or peaches here because it’s too hot and they’re my most successful fruit trees. I hope you’re able to grow some too!
I actually got apples 🍎 the first year but I pulled almost all of them off so the tree could put more energy into developing a better root system. For reference, I planted these in 2020 and this video shows my 2022 harvest. This year I think I’ll get about the same (although I pruned heavily over the winter so we’ll see!).
I started all my apples and stone fruit from bare root. They were basically 3 foot tall sticks when I first put them in the ground. It’s amazing to watch them grow so fast! It worked so well for me and it was also the most affordable option at about $20-$25 per tree in my area.
@@herhomeandharvest Thank you. I recently planted a 5gal Anna apple tree and just ordered a 1gal Dorsett. Some sites online say a semi-dwarf Anna can produce some fruit on its own, others no. Figured I better go ahead and get the Dorsett.
@@CelestialPulseX I think you’ll be happy with the two of them. I’ve seen them fruit on their own in neighbors yards but I really like the golden dorsett too so I’m happy I planted both! I hope they’re abundant for you!
Both of these varieties are known for doing well in warmer areas. Especially the Anna apple. It is originally from Israel so it handles desert climates well. In my area it rarely gets below freezing and I don’t meet the minimum chill hours recommended but they still fruit well for me. If you’re thinking of growing one, I would definitely recommend either of these. They’re both delicious and planting them together ensures good pollination 🐝🌸
wow really nice apply tree. I'm in the Philippines and I have more than 10 seedgrown fuji apple that needed to be grafted to produce fruits in 2-3 years. I also have asian pears that needed to be grafted. I would like to experiment what its to be like grafting another variety of apples into my seedgrown. I am just wondering if you are selling any apple scion woods?
@@herhomeandharvest Aw that's fine. I'm trying to look on ebay and etsy. I'm planning to graft some ana scion with my apples. I'm looking forward to see more of your videos about your apple and as well your husband pears ☺☺
@@clockwork2581 Thank you! Good luck finding some good scions. And I meant that my husband loves Asian pears and wishes we grew them lol. I know I can grow them where I live but I don’t know if they thrive very well here.
I just bought two today...I am trying to figure out how far apart from each other to plant. I noticed both of yours are pretty close together ....do u recomend keeping them close? my anna is self pollinating
It’s really up to you! They can be planted as close as 24” apart. If you want to treat them as 2 separate trees then I would aim for 6 or more feet apart but if you’re limited on space and are ok treating them as one combined tree I would aim for 24-36 inches apart. I planted most of my trees like this so I could get the most varieties from the smallest amount of space! I learned the technique from Dave Wilson Nurseries here on RUclips 🙂
It’s a large fine mesh bag that I use to keep the birds off while the fruit is maturing. I like it because it’s easier to take on and off than netting is. It’s breathable and serves the same function as netting but it also keeps bugs off.
@@RAMAIAHRamaih-de3bq I know of a couple varieties that are red on the inside and red or yellow on the outside but I’m not sure if they’ll grow in warm climates. Here they are called Lucy Glo or Lucy Rose apples. They are really delicious apples!
It's amazing how much those little trees give.
I’m so glad I got a good harvest even after pruning them horribly! Proof that every good tree bears good fruit…even when it’s been through a lot 😉
@@herhomeandharvest the temperature of my area does not fall below 10 degree Celsius is it possible to grow Anna Apple?

Thank you!!
I think you favor the actress, Jayla Palmer. She plays nice roles :)
Where can I find your net bags? I need some from our apple trees. Also, at what stage do you start netting them?
AWESOME❤❤❤
After planting Anna apples how long did it take to start harvesting??

That is a great little harvest & better than what you'll get in the store. What size trees did you start with if you don't mind me asking?

That sounds like a wonderful little orchard you have! Asian pears are my husband’s favorite. Unfortunately I am not able to sell or ship scions.
