We just put the original roof back on... and kinda like it 😳 ...possible design change?

- Remember when I said the design keeps evolving? Well... Bad Chad woke up this morning and wanted to see if the original roof still fits the 1959 Volvo. After some slicing and dicing, it started to look good. This wasn't part of the plan at all until today so we're not really sure what direction we'll take from here 😳 what are your thoughts?

Design wise.. I like the back curve of the roof line that Chad cut off. It complimented all the other curves of the rear end and the fenders. My 2 cents...

Man... You were so close to doing something different when you lay down the roof on the car with the first cut. But with the second cut, you will have another Jaguar with a square roof.
Chad & Jolene it's Friday! Chad I would keep my thoughts to myself but, either Jolene or you asked for our thoughts on the roof up above in the introduction. My opinion is that if you were to make it a detachable roof that would be cool. If you were to make it a permanent roof then I would not care for it to much. For one thing you have already cut the tops of the doors off so it would take quite bit of work to take it back to functioning door glass and it would not in my opinion make any sense to have a permanent hard top without the door glass. On the other hand it would be cool to have a removable top for a roadster. Jolene thank you for another excellent job on the video as always you are the best!
The roof looks cool. But - maybe make it removable if that's do-able?
It looked better before you cut it. I think you should make the back window Flat.. And that wings extend to the back like a Ford Pantera.

When he first started on TV I didnt dig him at all. Something has changed about him. He is a good dude. Much more down to earth and approachable! ❤

Love it, I was thinking about this when you first chopped it.
I would have left the little sail panel pieces on that you cut off. It gave it a cool fastback look.
I know you have a vision, but I liked the Roadster Idea myself. I hope you make it removable.
I liked it with long back wings on it, better line/ look.
It had that fastback look before he did all that cutting. Now it looks like a Peugeot.
Its cool to see the more Chadd cuts, the more his "style" starts poking through. Those high belt lines coupled with the chopped roof really shows his vision.

I agree with others..I removable roof would be cool then you could have the option of convertible or the chopped look...😊
Mr. Chad,when you have to cut off a post from a roof,if you would use a thick rubber band to place around post and move rubber band up as high as you can get it. The Rubber band could be your guide for you to cut around the post close to even. If you blacken the rubber band with a marker,it will show up much better. I call it a rubber band line. I watch your show and learn all kind of interesting things. You do good as a teacher. Learn on the go as you do things. I try to think outside the box when I do things, I find you get better results.
Looks good but dont think it should go any lower. I like the idea of the sail panels running past the top off the boot tofix lower on the guards.
Chad ,When I saw you put the roof back on I was hoping for a fastback design and you wou have to sectio the hood to change the rear window

Do any thing I think the roof looks cool as heck on there but I don’t think it looks as good with out them
Ends next to back window I would of run them in to the quarter panel next to trunk then it looked super sweet
Convertible with a removable hard top, just like my old 63 Vette. Love it.
I could see putting a piece of flat stock between the arms curved to fit the area in front of the trunk lid to spread out the weight in the back
It looks great with the top on it. Pretty easy to make removable at this point. Take off the rest of the structure up to the drip rail and replace it with more of the exhaust pipe cut in half.
Leave the side wings make the rear window like a Farrari
Love that possible plan change and as others have said...Any chance you can make the roof removeable? How would this affect the lack of glass in the doors?

Mr. Chad, that cherry picker that holds up engines could have held the back of the roof just high enough for you to cut. Is there a way to add a pipe on the long arm of the engine cherry picker to go inside under the roof as extra pair of hands, if put in the center part of the back of the car roof ? Add a 3 inch post in the back on both sides to give it a better level.
Removable hard top would be cool ✌️😎

You need to get the sag out of the car before you put that roof on the doors do not fit just saying . You should have braced it before you cut everything but you don’t believe in that .
Why is he wanting to put the roof back on the car?
so doors will close when he sits in it .. structural

After seeing the roof put back on I was thinking it might work better if you moved it forward about 6 to 8 in. Was thinking it might help blend the back window in better If you'd cut the front off????
I think it looks great as it is, but if you decide on putting the top back on, make it so it is removable top. The car looks great as is.

Well Chad, I’ve seen enough. I think your original plan is the best. I normally like coupes the best vs a roadster but again your original plan of a roadster you should keep. You know what I’m saying.
Leave it where it is, make some fins/wings going down the quarter panels. Then put a small vertical rear back window. Just an idea.

I think you should section the roof front to back and take about 6 or eight inches out. Then it would make the back window work!

I think if you cut the two window frames off and make a coupe . Just like you did ,save the window frame for rear window .

I go removable because you have to now have stationary or slide side windows
Personally it's too sexy to put the roof back on unless you make it removable but that's a ton of time and money that you will never get back from it but you did get it for free.
You don't need a back window. Lower it MORE at the back, forget the window.
Should of kept the angles of the roof running down past the trunk and then have a sunken rear window

You had the angle downwards towards the front would be the correct way, you cut the angle the opposite of what you should have
