hey Victor, I have found the Podmic functionally works better with the way my desk is layed out but I personally like the sound of the Yeti. I thinks is has a deeper and richer sound that I like. But, this can be fixed in post production or with a plugin if you're going a live show. If you end up trying the Podmic I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the sound.
@@Simplebizsupport Hi its Victor here. I'll keep you updated, I'm currently using the Yeti for tutorials and reviews in an untreated room, I have seen though that condenser mics are not best for this (reverb in my room just too much on the Yeti). Just yesterday I found a comparison between the PodMic and the Shure SM7B from a guy with a deep voice like mine and I think I will go the Shure route whenever the budget allows me
I may be wrong, but the pod mic is dynamic and recommended to be closer to the mouth, around 2-6 inches instead of the Yeti (4-8in). You would get a richer sound if you had the pod mic closer to your mouth. Keep in mind the difference between dynamic and condenser mics if you are thinking of getting either of these mics.
I wish I knew how you managed to make a crystal clear video with a window lighting direct to your camera lens. You are either a very professional guy or your camera costs more than 3000... Great . I really like the way you are expressing your opinion. Is it worth the sound difference ? NO ... Just this. I hate really reviewers starting their opinion trying to please everyone. ''If you that type of a guy , get this , if you are the other type of a guy , get this etc''. No you are the reviewer . Just tel your own opinion. Period
Thanks for the comment @ariskoshinas! I was able to make that video with the window behind me because I put a dark tint on it to prevent the sky from being "blown out". The camera is a Canon 80D - nothing fancy, but I did use a quality aftermarket lens which for me is more valuable than an expensive camera.
the yeti blue sounds so much better in my opinion, much warmer and pleasing tone. just dont go and buy the blue compass boom arm, that thing blows... get rode PSA1
@@qaismusic That's a loaded question that won't be solved by purchasing a couple of plugin unfortunate. Room resonance, how close you speak into the mix, etc play a big role also. There is a saying - garbage in, garbage out. Start there and then I would recommend learning how to EQ and compress your audio. @@ItsJrTheFur yeah for sure! The at2020 is a really inexpensive mic, I ended up replacing my blue yeti usb with this after trying many different condenser and dynamic mics including the suresm7b. If anyone is looking for a rich sounding mic simular to the blue yeti then the at2020 is a good choice :) !
Great question Ethan. My intent was for the viewer to not be swayed one way or the other by telling them which mic was which. This way, they could listen and determine which one they liked best.
@@Simplebizsupport I thought the same as the user above, and i liked mic b much better than mic a. Me thinking since i liked it, it had to be the rode. little did i know you were two steps ahead of me and by the end of the video you revealed which mic was which. I'd say you're a genius and saved people a lot of money in return for a little of their time.
I liked that we could listen to the mics at first, without knowing which was which. It helped me to focus on the sound with no pre-conceived ideas. I did notice that you tended to lean into the Rode more and were more straight on, versus the Yeti just sounded great no matter if you were facing it or were looking toward the Rode. For me... I'm staying with the Rode. I'll deal with where to put it. :) Great review!
Have the Yeti at the moment, the Podmic does sound more clear. Hard to decide wether to update, always loking to improve things for the videos.

I honestly thought Mic B was the Rode PodMic, was so surprised to hear that it was Yeti, it honestly sounds better and a smidge deeper.
My thoughts also! I like the sound richer sound of the Yeti and the fact that I don't have to power it with a preamp!
Same here, Mic A lacked the depth that Mic B had.
yeah cause off the top he never said which were which

Nice noticing! You are correct.
if you have a GoXLR or a good mixer with good preamps you will not need the booster. becasue it has enought volume.
Yes, a good preamp will do wonders for signal strength. Thank you for sharing PKTV.
Good stuff. Was thinking of upgrading to podmic setup but think ill stick with Yeti for a bit
The Yeti is a great mic!

I would agree with you on the Yeti. I ended up buying some plugins to EQ, de-ess and compress my audio to help out the sound from the Rode.
@@Simplebizsupport any suggestions for what plugins to buy to make a voice over type of recordings? I am a black yeti user, I need to make podcasts

@@Simplebizsupport many thanks. Will do 🙏
Would you pay the extra $$ for the Rode setup or go the simple route with the Yeti mic?
Why not the blue yeti XLR?
@@lordlondon7960 isn’t the yeti with the xlr port like $200
@@ItsJrTheFur Good point! In that case I would choose the at2020 for a simular sounding mic that is also a condenser.
@@lordlondon7960 i believe there is a kit that is $150 that has the at2020 mic, a boom arm and some audio technica headphones
