#FMTNews #SingaporeAirlines #SQ321 #Turbulence
Back the 70's while leaving Bangkok, my dad was almost arrested for not giving up my seat to another passenger as the flight was over sold. My dad had a full fare ticket for me, but they still tried to get my dad to hold me the entire 8 hour flight. He didn't back down and very well saved my life as we too hit bad turbulence that day.
Disgusting airline policy
Which airline was that?
I remember that flight, I still want my seat back
The plane plunged 6000 feets within 3 minutes. A typical story of a building is about 3 meters in height. 6000 feets is around 1828 meters which is around 700 stories height. Now, imagine you jump off a 700-stories building and spend 3 minutes dropping. To add on to it, imagine no seat belt is attached.
the velocity would be the same as a free fall? I imagine airplane drops to not be on freefall velocity level, or am I wrong?
If your seat belt was fastened, what would your comment be?
From what I can understand it wasnt just a drop, but turbulent drops AND rises..... So imagine being on 700 storey roller coaster and NOT wearing your seatbelt. People would be bouncing off the ceiling and over the seats into other people.
@Re-00111= 🤡
Thanks for the explanation! I was wondering how people could die. Terrifying!
Never underestimate turbulence
That's why it is advisable to keep your seat belt securely fastened at all times when in your seat ..... and don't move about too much.
You are advised to walk about now and then on long haul flights, if you don't you can get blood clots that can kill you
try to not move on a 14-hr flight... ridiculous.
Not moving at all causing micro clots in your distant limbs, and higher risk getting strokes if those micro clots dislodge and go into blood vessels of certain organ like brain or heart (then causing heart attack)
Human need to pee or poop tho
The turbulence happened abruptly around 10 hours into a smooth flight. People were probably restless and want to unwind. It's unfortunate, but you can't control everything in your life. If it's not the seatbelt something else will get you unprepared.
I work in Suvarnabhumi Airport, I'm happy to help you guys.
Some media reports have erroneously reported the descent toward Bangkok from 37,000 feet to 31,000 feet as the turbulence event. This was a standard controlled descent to a new flight level, and was after the turbulence
Same people told us covid magically appeared at a market one day
Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight SQ321, operating from London (Heathrow) to Singapore on 20 May 2024, encountered sudden extreme turbulence over the Irrawaddy Basin at 37,000 feet about 10 hours after departure. The pilot declared a medical emergency and diverted the aircraft to Bangkok, and landed at 1545hrs local time on 21 May 2024.
777 Boeing is the safest Air Craft, bad weather rarely unmanageable, Singapore Airlines is well managed.
Flying without wearing the seat belt is like swimming in Australia or South Africa thinking that shark attacks are less then car accidents.
Then car accidents do what?
You realise there are plenty of reasons not to wear a seatbelt? You're a crew member? You are waiting in line for the toilet?
@@Udontknowmi I fly a lot I see, I don’t realize
Everyone has always got their camera rolling these days. Why is there no video footage of the plane going through turbulance and people screaming.
We had bad turbulence from Auckland to Brisbane a few weeks ago. Try holding a phone when the whole bloody plane is shaking, overhead lockers are opening and the huge cases that should never have been put in them are falling out.
For those who says turbulence is harmless if you have your seatbelt on, remember that one Boeing 707 in Japan was ripped apart by turbulence in 1966. Everyone died whether you have seatbelt on or not. That is why airplanes try to avoid storms and planes wait a while for other planes to clear the area before they take off.
The airline only ever had that one fatal accident prior to this, which happened nearly 24 years ago. I've had a bit of experience flying with them myself in 2010, and I do remember encountering turbulence on several occasions, moreso on the return flights from Japan as there was some fairly turbulent weather forming over the Pacific at the time. Generally, as soon as they encounter turbulence, the "fasten seat belt" signs are activated and they don't get turned off until several minutes of no turbulence have passed, so I'd say this event must have happened quite suddenly.
I am in Thailand. I am happy that my country helps fellow human beings.❤❤
And it seems that there was criticism ! First turbulence doesn’t send a message it is coming second ALWAYS keep your safety belts on ! You never know. The proof : here you have it.
that’s why you should wear seat belt all the time…
Yup, i wear seatbelts with every vehicle, all the time. Even lift services, travel buses, planes, trains etc etc.
People around me said tht i'm being fussy, out of the norm, but better safe than sorry, amirite?
@@luyun352 yaaa , we need to take care of it.
All airplane have seatbelt. Just same like other airline.. poeple dead..
@@njwsm2245 better read news, what they said…People without seatbelts kissed the selling…
You don't pee? Show us how you pee with seat belt on
Cruising at 37,00 ft over the Andaman Sea when it suddenly dropped 6,000 ft. Most of them caught unaware
My brother in most cases of severe turbulence planes are reported to rarely ever drop 50-100 feet lol
@@bussydestroyerxxlowkeynoca8994news article said it was a 6000 feet drop over 5 mins
Is it totally turbulence or are there things wrong with the planes that cause the planes reaction in such a violent way?
@@river4462 turbulence, no plane can do that without pitching up or down
That is a low pressure due to monsoon
Radar cannot detected air pocket?
Always wear your seatbelt all time. This is scary.
No! I will not
Man, they need to be more aware to avoid air pockets or heavy clouds during flights. This gotta stop worldwide.
This is impossible with todays tech, but its being worked on for almost 10 years
How can we stay safe if we are in line for/in the toilet?
💀
From what I can understand it wasn't just a drop, but turbulent drops AND rises..... So imagine being on 700 storey roller coaster and NOT wearing your seatbelt. People would be bouncing off the ceiling and over the seats into other people. This is why they say "keep your seatbelts fastened when in your seat" so surprise turbulence doesn't turn you into a projectile.
Every article on this - the plane “FELL 6000 feet in 3 minutes”. That = 2000 feet a minute. A NORMAL descent is 3500 feet which means in 3 minutes a normal descent would be closer to 11500 feet.
This must have happened extremely quick or we'd be seeing 5,000 videos from passengers. I can't even imagine turbulence being this bad.
considering the emergency landing and 30 injured, it must've been quick and terrifying. And according to eye witness account, it happened shortly after the seatbelt sign turned on...
Some say turbulence are fine. Honest to you all turbulence are way more dangerous than you thought
No they are not. You know what is dangerous? Cruising in a plane without safety belt on.
I encounter a mild turbulence once and I was buckled in. Feels like on a roller coaster. I am always buckled in on a flight ever since.
@@hollyjaw3303they are 💀
Depends on if your buckled up or not. But its not dangerous for the plane itself. At long as there is enough speed and high nothing happens except the plane looses hight.
Yeah dangerous to passengers especially if they don’t follow safety protocols. But airplanes can handle any turbulence or weather no problem.
With advance radar system & weather forecast, quite surprising that the pilot was not able to anticipate the bad weather ahead - the air turbulence that came with it as in this case. Normally, during those conditions, passengers are advised to pun on their seat belt & on board services temporarily suspended..
Something not adding up
Terrifying - so sorry to hear this
Thnx To the Team crew God use your Hand to protect all the Passengers
Weather is the cause I believe..because it is the start of the monsoon season. See. the rain outside the hospital.
Of course weather, but irrational non natural weather is created from all the poisons raining down in the form of what is created by weather manipulation thanks to the nefarious and hopeless gov...worldwide that is
Publish the black box information on atmospheric conditions.
I've been scared of this exact situation for the few years flying especially now I travel with a small child. But then I brushed it off as one in a million freak accidents and often unbuckled when I didn't have too. Will totally change my behavior now.
it is already stated there to always wear a seat belt. even the air bus never tells or announces that you can unfasten it during the flight
Very sad
Boeing's problems do not always end with an emergency landing we have not heard of airbus problems like Boeing's
Did he have a precedented heart condition?
been in one before, i was thrown to the ceiling when i was kid. Now i have phobia of flight even when im 43 now
Strange it happened above Myanmar and he kept flying to Bangkok.
That is still atleast 2,5 hours to fly.
Chiang Mai would have made more sense.
Reason:- Seat belt negligence by passengers.
Hope everyone is safe and prayers 🙏 for the deceased
You are absolutely right.
Passengers who don't wear seat belts....
@@capitainebonhomme1609 there is lot of convectional currents in Tropics in Bay of Bengal in this summer which caused them this in Bangkok nearby.
South India is totally in unusual rain clouds climate right now heavy rains 🌧 people don't understand the Airlines protocols
Very Sad 😔
I know from numerous flights taken that the crew/captain usually tells you when troubles are coming, sometimes you notice it yourself. If you still keep moving about then, there is no wonder all there peeps got injured. Furthermore, I keep the belt on when sitting anyway.
condolences
It's boeing, there is nothing to see here
Imagine this incident happen to Malaysia Airline, Airasia or Firefly,,, this comment section will be full of hate speech and condemn towards the airline and Malaysia's govt 🥺
Well SIA undeniably do have military quality pilot. Thank goodness for the good control in emergency landing though turbulence can be unpredictable.
Exactly, no end to all the nasty criticisms, dont forget Msians too work on Spore Airlines flights. From Australia
Keep that seat belt on always.
my deepest condoles to victim..
Hmm, this reminds me of another similar incident.
The seat belt in an aeroplane .... very easy to think why even bother with it. But very low chance events are one of those things difficult for a human brain to assess the risk of properly. It's not a problem until its a massive problem.
At least tell us how the person died. Was it due to poor health condition, heart attack or accident?
Heart attack.
James 4:14
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Better kept the belt on if nothing to do when inside the plane.. 😢
Every passengers became a Super Mario
death due to heart shocked
any business and first class injuries"? there are regulation regarding space and live stocks while airplane seats are have gotten smaller and smaller, in economy people are literally sitting on top of each other
4 things to mention~~~
My deepest condolences to family and good friends of Mr. Geoff Kitchen who didn't make it to SG.
Kudos to SIA team: emergency protocol retained the remaining 221 passengers.
Kudos to passengers whose remained seated with safety belt.
Whenever travel, get a Travel Insurance. Wise people used it as a risk mitigation tool, be one of them.
By M.K.Kwan.
I do understand what causes turbulence as I've taken a few flight lessons at Perth Airport Scotland but didn't finish due to money
What I don't understand is what makes a plane drop /lose height so drastically suddenly
Thanks
Semoga tuhan permudahkan urusan kamu...😢
Singapore number 1 ma...
Btw stop blaming the passenger, the pilot turned off the seatbelt notification and failed to warn the passenger and Crew of an upcoming turbulence.
Are we even surprised that it's a Boeing at this point?
BOEING CANNOT FUCKING CONTROL PHYSICS. BOEING CANNOT FUCKING CONTROL WHETHER PASSENGERS CHOOSE TO WEAR THEIR SEATBELT OR NOT.
Where is the location of the turbulance . Nothing new is said in this video . Old news.
This incident happened in the last 2 days.
Boeing destroyed by a heavy turbulence
I think it's wonderful that Singapore Airlines is taking action as they are, but I hope those who were not wearing seatbelts take some responsibility for their own actions as well. You have the right to use the bathroom and get up as needed... but the rest of the time that seatbelt should be on... SA had nothing to do with this occurrence It could happen to any plane-airline. But thank God they had good pilots at the helm.
Scary to be caught in one
It is negligrnce of the Singapore air without notice the radar
I guess the staff wont get that 8 months bonus
The turbulence is faster than elevator.
Scariest flight of my life
It's interesting how 2 separate whistle blowers from Boeing were... "died".... As they were speaking out about all the safety issues that Boeing was pushing under the rug. Maybe look into how many Boeing flights as of recent have had near crashes... Something dark is going on with Boeing.
Innalillah, sampai kemek siling atas, impak kuat tuh 😮😮😮😮😖😖😖
What about the status cabin crew ?
They probably strapped in their seatbelts as soon as they felt the turbulences so none died.
But still Singapore is safe sorry to hear about one death I am sad turbulence are fu***ng turbulence
Time to redesign seat belts. To prevent from throwing off in any directions. Should have something like in car. Not just buckling across tummy.
“Throwing off in any directions”??? Where did you find this idea?!
@rodmcintosh3149 Some business class seats have 3 point belts
The seatbelts were not the problem. People not wearing them is the problem. Not some I tell you, but most passengers just don't wear them even during turbulence.
That is why i never boarding any airplane until now . ✈️✈️

My dad work in the singgapor aircraft mekanik
R.I.P 😢❤
Is this technical failure of the Aircraft/human negligence/ or real turbulence caused in the mid air...Nobody knows....as this Air route is very busy connecting middle East and Far East...and many aircraft might have travelled in the same route and altitude.....at that partocular time....Is Singapore Airlines pushing the blame on Turbulence as the reason...or the Pilots of the flight couldn't handle the Turbulence in a proper way as it should be handled..???
Many doubts in the minds of the passengers who underwent mental trauma and shock due to this Turbulence/Flight landing from 37000 ft to 31000 ft within few minutes...these questions to be answered by the Singapore Airlines...Pilots and Crew about the hidden mystery....of this pathetic situation.
I reallywant to know whats the cause of the death
Allegedly Heart attack. The man has had heart attacks before and they're saying the turbulence and consequent drop might have caused one. 😢
70y+ British man with medical condition. Cardiac Arrest. RIP
I bet everyone will wear their seatbelts at all times now
The claim is air turbulence is occurring more often. Airlines should check their flight path to see if the aircraft flys over huge solar panel farms. We are told by scientists that heat from a solar panel farm can change the molecules in the air above the panels which causes the air to become thin and rise upwards and form what they call “Heat Islands”. Research is being carried out on the effects of heat islands and whether they rise higher enough to affect aircraft. Research is difficult because heat islands can’t be seen and it’s uncertain how they can affect the weather. There has been resistance in some countries to the installation of large solar panel farms because of the unknown effects of Heat Islands.
Really appreciate the pilot for safe landing save the many passengers SIA the best Airlines in the world many airlines face the same situation and nature disaster we can't do anything
😢😢😢
always wear your seatbelt
I'm surprised and " disappointed" that nobody took videos during the actual turbulence. I thought the sheeples are always glued to their mobile phones even while walking in crowded public places and streets. So why you didn't record it, sheeples, where's the video? 🙃😉
I find it very hard to believe myself that there is no video footage. The only videos were outside and looked very theatrical. I hope everyones ok though🙄
Why is Boeing still flying...
thats why i hate flying and boarding a ship. we need modern trains the best mode of transportation!
Trains that can travel over the wet bits
How can someone die during turbulence!??
He was a 73 year old man and took a cardiac arrest, RIP
Imagine an egg in a tall jar. Now, violently shake the jar up, then down, then up, then down, then up, then down. The head of the egg hits the lid each time you go down so hard that it shatters. You are that egg, and the lid is the roof.
But somehow they'll try to blame it on someone why don't you just point the finger at mother nature and see what she thinks
When are you people who think you’re too cool for school going to stay buckled up at all times as the pilots request , except when you go to the bathrooms ?
If it's boeing I aint going.
@LoavesChrozp shall edit the comment because clear air turbulence (CAT) has obviously nothing to do with any manufacturer of the aircrafts...!!! 🫵🏽🧐
@@MultiMediaEmperorhow is it that historically all CAT-related fatalities were from Boeing flights?

How can you accuse boeing? I can guarantee you that if it was an airbus in the same situation, it would have been a similar experience for the passengers.A few years back, Air asia 8501 crashed into the Java sea.I m pretty sure clear air turbulence was a factor. The plane operating as air asia 8501 was a airbus a320. You probably dont know that much about planes. Otherwise why would you be blaming boeing for clear air turbulence? If the weather is bad, is it boeing's fault?
Boing ....
WHAT AGAINT ?????????

Holy shit😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
For everyone who thinks the whole descending 6000ft in 3 minutes thing is scary, it's not.
Those numbers may seem like a lot, but if you've ever been on a plane, likelihood is when you were descending, you were descending at anywhere from -1600 fpm to -2000 fpm, it's totally normal.
In an emergency situation when they need to get down as fast as possible, like the need to divert quickly, maybe a medical emergency, fuel leak, depressurisation, dodgy warning in the cockpit, you'll easily descend at -8000+ fpm, and inside the plane you'll still only feel 1g, it's completely normal and not at all an issue, or factor.
The pilots would have been trying to get out of the turbulence, usually you'd either climb out of it, or descent under it, hence the fast descent rate, to get out of it quicker, the turbulence would have sucked ass though on the way down, no doubt.
