Although there isn't that much skating in this new episode, you get a good inside look at The Flip team's crazyness during the early times of the making of the "Sorry" video. In fact when we did that trip at Tom's house in the french country side in 1999, I was still making És 's "Menikmati", and this was my very first trip with the Flip crew, before I officially started to work on "Sorry". At the time I was into filming skateboarding, not so much the lifestyle that came with it. One night when Ali puked out of the van at a gas station, I got some shit from the Flip officials, for not filming it! That made me realized that yes, it was important to film all that shit and crazyness! It was also Bastien's first ever trip with Flip, and at the beginning, it's the first time he ever meets Ali, Arto and Geoff! The mini ramp inside the barn was built by Geoff and Rune, a couple years before that time we went there. If you have questions, feel free to ask. Enjoy this new episode! -Frenchfred-
bloodyfrenchfred i freaking love seeing what goes on day to day on these trips, you could just upload stuff like this without the skating and i would be fine with that. keep up the amazing work.
this is amazing footage!! Sorry has always been my favorite skate movie, IMO they had the best most well rounded team from sorry to extremely sorry. Love seeing this footage, its really brings me back
good job french fred your filming style it's awesome, the angles are weird and give the tricks a different view, like ledges and stuff, i saw the sorry video thousand times wen i was a kid and was the best video ever..
Tom Penny is the illest, I used to emulate his every move, but there can only be one! was fun trying though....rad video..wish Penny would pay another visit to Hawaii
you have no idea how much joy this brings me! thank you Fred. will there be a flip San Francisco episode from when Bastien kickflip front boarded that rail? that would be amazing
ypur videos are so interesting, last sunday i meet geoff and i remembered all the flip videos, and now this... i hope you have a lot o this material is amazing!!!
Thanks for another gem. (This is me Feeling free to ask). "How do YOU (Fred) feel about the majority of skate media containing hip-hop...I guess a better way to phrase the question would be, "How do you feel about the lack of diverse music in most skate media". For me, skating/watching vid's use to mean getting exposed to new bands or new/different music that would otherwise never make it to my ears if it weren't for skating. I credit finding most of my favorite music through skating, may it be videos, going to see live shows, or just getting put on to something from some random skater by hearing his car stereo as he rolls a j. in the parking lot. This doesn't happen much at all anymore, although I have found some great hip-hop, I'm ready for acid jazz, or juice harp mixed with Hang-drum, or that crazed "throat singing" Eskimo's do. Anything other than re-spewed chopped-n-screwed steez-a-tude from these fashion fresh fool tools. Don't get me wrong, I love all music(including mentioned genre) I just miss the different flavour's. Your thoughts. Also, if the moon was made of cream cheese, would you eat it?
24yearssk8nerd op8surviver Ah ah... Yeah personnally I never used so much hip-hop because it's not so much my cup of tea! Yeah just like you I build up my WHOLE music culture thanks to skateboarding and the videos. Diversity is important for sure.... I always tried to bring new music... which can be challenging, but it's important... stuff like Godspeed You Black Emperor, electro music from Ed Banger Records... important to take risks and try new things.... other wise it's too easy.... But is there too much hip-hop in skate videos? I don't have that feeling... not sure... other than that, no way, I never eat cream cheese... I'm french, and I stay away as much as possible from processed foods! And the moonlight is cool, I would miss it!
I'm starting to think it's a "East Canadian". thing cause 'round here, 90% of the skate population are all "fashion fresh to death", and all about image(really sucks for older skaters) Good call on the moon kanundrum. Processed food is a tool to process puppets, and some of my most memorable skate sessions were guided by moonlight(that's why they call me whiskers). Thanks for taking the much needed risks.I'm very thankful for people like you(much respect) In my opinion, unconventional music gives skating the dynamic(that we naturally feel) To a watcher that may have otherwise felt, Skateboarding = Image hungry teens(far fetched, I know) So gimmie, buckethead, bluegrass, "Throat singing", war drums, etc. One last thing. I've been trying to find other french people with my last name, but not having much luck here in Canada. Do you know any Lafitte's or lafayette's ? (the spelling got murdered in Newfoundland)
bloodyfrenchfred Is that the kid who 50-50s that curved rail and gets smoked in the face by a chain or something in Transworld Feedback and was all fuked up?
Frenchfred Thank you for the response Fred! And thank you for posting all of this old footage! I loved Sorry and Tom Penny is one of my favorite skaters ever! The BFFS was such a great series! Thanks for the hype!!!! I greatly appreciate it!
Of course barely any Tom Penny footage. Just like old times. That was easily the worst BFFS yet, most of it was lame. I hate saying that cause I love watching BFFS.
Dylan J No grew up just b4 it but that doesnt matter, Flip has always been one of my favorite teams and Tom Penny is one of my all time favorites so I got super excited to watch this only to be let down by watching antics.

bloodyfrenchfred i freaking love seeing what goes on day to day on these trips, you could just upload stuff like this without the skating and i would be fine with that. keep up the amazing work.
Early Bastien footage will always amaze me. Never seen a kid with so much finesse and style.

I wish Tom would speak more : )
Hi fred! Don't you have any pj's footage?
Marlon Ladd No I never ever filmed with PJ!
I'm not gonna lie, seeing Ali Boulala on a motorbike made me laught.
It'll be funny if these guy did all these now (shooting bb guns, throwing fireworks), considering how old they are.
Dave G considering Ali is sober now he'd probably not find it as amusing as he used to
What ever happened to the flip am Andrew Gordon?
AsocalRedneck Yeah he was amazing, too bad he disappeared somewhere!
6:47 fucking hit him right on the face, movie status
Lost my shit at 3:42 haha
