I saw their Vegas performance the first year it opened, and it truly was fabulous. He is not kidding when he speaks of the fast pace and overwhelming energy expended. It was the same year he won on Dancing With the Stars....his finale performance on it was the one he does (or did!) on stage. It was well worth going to see, and even tho they are prob a dozen years older now, between the talents of both Donny and Marie, it's well worth seeing. Extremely entertaining.

With regard to a Firefighter retiring after 30 years (say he/she was hired @ 22yrs.old)...Being a Firefighter is a young persons job in all respects- It's physically and eventually, and more importantly, mentally draining, You see the worst of what can happen to good people- From responding to a families home and dealing with their loss due to death, vehicle accidents, injuried/abused or the death of children, picking up elderly who are tragically alone, homeless/vagrants/drug addicted, etc... 30 years of responding at all hours for that and anything else you can think of-takes a toll... It's NOT the entertainment industry.

Thanks, Adam, for having such a great guest! Back in the day lol I was team David Cassidy, my sister was team Donny. (I will say I had a thing for Merrill and Jay, but I digress.) Over the years tastes change, or rather more is added to the menu in terms of musical entertainment, but Donny and his brothers were always in the mix for me, thanks to RUclips. In the last 7 years or so I've done a deep dive into their music, and besides their extraordinary talent, I'm always taken by how genuinely kind they all are. I was excited upon hearing about Donny's upcoming tour, then sad to realize he won't be anywhere near Fort Worth. Maybe they'll film his show, who knows. Not many concerts in my future, alas. Anyway, this was a great trip down memory lane for me. Peace and be well.

Merrill had the voice of a true rock lead vocalist, and Jay was one of the best drummers in the business at that time.

I think it might be interesting to point out that the Lawrence Welk Show was filmed at an amusement park in Santa Monica POP (Pacific Ocean Park). I learned about this because the only picture I have of my father was in front of a fountain that was located there. And I didn't figure that out untill 2019. And have since learned a lot about that place. I am guessing that the Osmonds would still have gone on to become hugely successfull. they just wouldn't have had that very interesting story to tell about being discovered at Disneyland, doing the back and forth with the barber shop quartet?

This is a great interview. I appreciate hearing from Donny Osmond. I didn't realize that my perceptions of him were not right --- all based on my second and third hand information and not actually listening what he had to say in an interview. A level-headed, sane person who has survived Hollywood and the celebrity lifestyle. I was surprised that Michael Jackson told him that his name was box office poison.

Donny even offered Michael and his family respite at his home for a few weeks and privacy when things were going badly. Michael never called him back, and 6 months or so he was gone.( I might be off a few months.) They were close friends even if they didn't see each other often.

I wonder if 'telling your story' gets boring after the first 1,000 times. Poor guy! Can't interviewers come up with something new and fresh to talk about? But, not everyone has followed Donny for the past 60 years, so I guess he will continue telling the same old story. He's a good man!

You're right. He can come across cynical and disenchanted. I think it's due to the hard road he has travelled.

Years ago i saw a local band in Indiana where i lived all my life.....they did "Crazy Horses" by the Osmond Brothers. They did a great job i always thought. But this local band really rocked it up.I knew who did it originally but no one else did. These guys pretty much did it in like a metal song and it sounded great and the guitar work and drums were smoking hot.Thats the only song i ever like by this family.
