Pay your fair share of taxes to pay for the social programs he wants otherwise we add it to the debt our children will have to pay for shame on you for wanting. Big government without paying for it

Firstly, I'm fine with paying my share of taxes for good universal services, security, and equal chances for all.
But you do know that there are different contending economic theories? Among economists, there is no consensus on the role of public debt, on how much of it is sustainable, or on who it actually has to pay, etc.
If you compare different countries, you will notice that for some of them, double the amount of debt that the US has in relation to GDP is absolutely no problem at all, e.g. Japan.
Indeed, some economists, for example, those of the school of Modern Monetary Theory (MMT), argue that the national debt has nothing to do with future generations and that it can always be paid back as long as the country controls its own currency.
Long story short, let's have a productive discussion about real arguments without scaremongering about mountains of debt for future generations. If you really think it's a problem, explain in detail why you think that is and why so far it has been no problem at all for countries like the US and Japan (heck, even European countries have relaxed about it). And it's not a problem anymore even in Greece: they just went further into debt to counter the pandemic and nothing happened, low-interest rates, etc.
      So long!

The bitter gift of this lecture lies in underlining so boldly that the law (rules and laws of society) and justice/fairness do not always intersect. This is a lesson you thread eloquently through most of your lectures- those students are blessed to have you as their Prof. Bravo.

Professor Reich, another way the government and elites close the door on a lot of the unfortunates is by employers insisting on criminal background checks for potential employees. The people in question have paid their debt to society but yet get no access, in most cases, to work with good pay , benefits and pensions. I believe it is a violation of their human rights. The playing field should be equal.

I no longer have sufficient power coupons. Life happened and not much of it was in my favor in recent years. I suppose I can live with that but it would have been nice to be able to use what little power I once had on behalf of my adult children and grandchildren before I'm no longer living. I was never extremely wealthy but I had enough to have bought a few favors. Quite a few favors if I brought my friends together who wanted the same things.

56:15: 📚 The video discusses the shifting nature of contracts and the evolution of methods to deal with failure to pay debts.
1:03:33: 🔒 The video discusses the issue of young people, particularly people of color, being arrested and held in pretrial detention without bail, leading to plea bargains and disproportionate penalties.

HR1 really kicked in this last year. This is the first time in 35 years I had to write a check to the IRS. I can no longer deduct my unreimbursed work expenses-or my charitable contributions.
Think for a moment what that means for charities the middle class wants to support.

You could also analyze democratic, political and social rights compared to economic classes (race would be difficult because many countries do not identify race).

Reckon she got a ticket? Why, I knew the answer to that before she got anywhere near the end. And they wonder why so many people despise policemen.
