Well it started with Jarvis playing a melody on a keyboard, long before he even thought up the words. Similarly (according to the Twitter feed from the Different Class listening party in 2020) the famous riff from Disco 2000 started off as a keyboard line, until while messing about in the studio, Mark Webber just decided to play the riff on his guitar instead (and at the time Mark wasn't even a full time member of the band) and the rest is history.
Jarvis Cocker actually composed on a Casio MT-500, I have just bought an MT-500 for my 35th birthday. Back in the 90s I did a multi track cover using my Yamaha PSS-790, Casio CT-700 and I also used a Casio SA-10 to play the synth lead part so I thought it was a coincidence that Jarvis Cocker composed it on a small Casio keyboard. My newest keyboard is a Yamaha PSR-295 which is an older model that came before the PSR-E4 series but the PSR-295 doesn't have synth filters or a pitchbend wheel. Last year I was going to get a Yamaha Tyros 5 for my birthday but because of unforseen circumstances resulting in me resigning I couldn't afford an arranger keyboard.
I don't have the time to do a tutorial but I can give you the chords The chords are C, G and F that's all it is really. I worked this song out by ear so I don't have the sheets for it.
Too many people do covers with guitars and don't realise it's a keyboard driven song. The keys are essential! Good cover x
