    3:24 yup same way as dial without need use (we not have any tool height calibration tool) xD. you could make your ref point 3.000 so not need calculate later lol

    Hi
    I know that calibration tool is just for helping to find other dimensions of haimer and tool touch off sensor. but 3" length is just relative, and can be different on different machine. because is not BigBT30 ( it has just tapper contact) .
    My point is that if some spindles have a bit wider tapper, than there is little bit shorter distance from spindle nose to tip of calibration tool. My point is that it is just relative 3"

    HI Jay Another great vid. To calculate length of the Haimer why not use your tool setter. This way all length measurements are referenced to the same instrument. If the tool setter has a height error it does not matter. As long as it is consistent and repeatable. The only requirement is to subtract the ball radius from the length that tool setter gives. Why this works is that the preload on the Haimer stylus is much greater than the tool setter. I actually have not tried this with the Haimer but I have a similar German device called a Tschorn. I would be interested to see if it returns the same answer in your case. Cheers

      Everything is referenced to the Maritool calibration tool...the tool setter and the Haimer.

    With Hurcos, it's easy - crank down to reference surface until Haimer zeros, then set tool length
    The fun part is remembering which Haimer is assigned which tool # - there's the shops Haimer, and my personal one, and they're only one digit off from each other in the tool registry.

      I just got my first hurco. A 04 VM1 with ultimax. I had a hard time setting tools and parts at first, as it was my first cnc. I figured out that I if I zero all my tools and the haimer from the same surface(back of the vise for me) everything just works as it should. I do believe I have to turn off something in the control, like z offset or something it’s called. Not sure what would happen if I switched over to the conversational side as I don’t use it anymore.

    How do you like the pioneer probe? And tool setter?
    Any problems with it?
    And is that radio version?

      love the tool setter...i honestly never use the probe. on this machine. I'm actually spending some time this week to try and get the probe set up.

      @@NerdlyCNC I’m really on the fence on the radio probe or the light since style. I’m on a router and I do a lot of weird set ups I’m leaning to the radio style so I don’t have line of sight problems. I wish I could talk to somebody that owns it and use it.

      But more expensive.....Is renishaw an option?

      @@NerdlyCNC I just can’t justify the cost. Especially if it ever crashes. Pioneer looks like a good company.

    0:56 to measure haimer you need another tool xD and tool height is machine maxium travel to bed(-+)known heigth from bed(-+)current machine z.
    (-+) bcoz you need figureout it your self. machine coordinates are -. so you kinda add to get closer to 0 and result is - but you remove it. tool height is positive. dont do HAAS lol.
    put your dial indicator spindle flat area next to taper zero coordinate(and dial) raise z. put tool in lower till dial say 0 look you machine you are abow zeroed place thats your tool height.
    all this not matter if you allways measure all tools same place that not change.
    max z travel-block height from table is you machine coordinate if you want make it work zero for measure point. remember number is - .
    and max trvel is what manufracture has sell your machine. it might be acurate but its fine if you measure all tool same place allways xD
    same way you can figure your max z if know tool height like your (calibrationn tool)

      the relative position is irrelevant, this gets the tools set into the machine so that any work offset can be set with the haimer and everything will just work.

    Hi Nerdly
    Geart video. I run a old machine with a old fanuc controler in our shop which dont have all the fancy equipments. If you make a video on how to do the tool length offset without all the luxurious equipments. I would be appreciated.
    BTW there is no useful video on that subject.

    Couldn't you just measure the tool length of the haimer with a height gauge?
