  • Turn it up LOUD and enjoy this onboard view of our win at the Wally Parks Nostalgia Nationals! The car went a 6.02 on a 6.00 index at only 209mph due to lifting off the throttle early. At the end of the video, you’ll see the lens get covered in what appears to be oil, but is just an accidental fire bottle handle pull. Enjoy!

What's taken off the engine and shown to the driver just before the run?

He is showing the driver that he's removed the throttle stop from the linkage allowing him to go full throttle !

What was the smoke all about?

Ah, I understand, I've never observed that happening. Even fighter jets have the chicken switch relatively close to the Fun switch. Well anyway, glad that you weren't injured and that your whip wasn't smoked. I'm entertained more when there aren't crashes and fires and grenaded dragsters. I like the raced about one driver beating another because of reaction time and ability to keep traction and both drivers reaching the finish line intact
