When it comes to choosing a durable, versatile and aesthetically pleasing siding for your home, cement siding might be the right choice for you. Cement siding is gaining in popularity for a variety of reasons. Cement siding is 90 percent lightweight Portland cement mixed with wood pulp and sand. What you get is a lightweight, durable siding that holds paint very well. Once you paint the siding, you won’t have to paint it again for five to ten years. It also offers a wood grain finish.
Compared to vinyl, cement siding offers consumers better control to change their home’s look over time. That’s because if you buy vinyl exterior, you’re limited to the color of the vinyl. However, if you decide you want to change the colors of your home’s exterior, you can always paint the cement siding.
And it’s also durable compared to vinyl. It holds up much better to lawnmowers, weed eaters or kids bouncing a baseball or golf ball off the cement siding and it won’t dent.
And installation is easy as well. Cement siding is nailed in place just like vinyl or wood exteriors.
The reason it can be nailed in place without splitting or cracking is the wood pulp that goes into its making. The wood pulp bonds with the cement and gives it strength and flexibility much like re-bar does for concrete. And unlike some exteriors cement siding is flame resistant.

Installed Hardie board lap siding on my shop 16 yrs ago. Used a dark solid color stain. Lasted 16 years. No peeling whatsoever, the dark green just started to fade. So two quick coats of solid color stain and looks great again. No scraping, sanding or dealing peeling paint, just did a quick pressure wash. Goes on faster than paint. If you pick a dark color like I did, expect to put on 3 coats initially to get your color depth. Would do it again in a heartbeat due to simplicity of maintenance, selection of colors and wood look I wanted.

    Thanks for uploading this video.
If anything, what preliminary steps must one take for humid environments?
I am completely new to construction. If any, what other material layers are required to make a wall?

Why would you need to repaint in 5 to 10 when using porter permanizer that is considered a lifetime paint?

It's not so resistant to hail or golf balls, compared to composite (e.g., LP Smartside). It will crack and shatter with the rare, high-velocity impact.

you might not have to paint for 5 or ten years!!! what the heck good is that ? Who wants to paint there house every 5 years? See the price of paint lately . just another junk material that could be made from Hemp resin and last forever! Lets stop the madness already
