Nice evaluation brother . Correct me if I'm wrong , but the reason the hip belt is so padded , is because you're supposed to carry a majority of the pack weight on your hips . Legs are stronger than backs . 👍😂

Correct about the waist belt. It's allows you to shift weight back and forth from hips to shoulders to prevent fatigue

@TinmanTA-Metal Yes sir . I thought it worked something like that . Been many years since I have gone backpacking 😂

The shoulder straps and hip belt on the Mardingtop backpacks seem a little weak. In particular, the hip belt is supposed to support more than 3/4 of the total weight of the pack, and it seems to be lacking.

The side pouches fit a Henry AR7 nicely

"Adjustable ride height"? or did you mean adjustable back length? The latter is a minimum requirement on a decent pack?👍

Where it sits to ride on someone's shoulders. There's several settings for shorter and taller folks. The length doesn't change, just the height of where it rides on someone's back for comfort and fitment.

@@TinmanTA-Metal The back length, ie the distance between shoulder straps and hip belt does change, that is the point. As you say, for taller and shorter folk..............
