  • In this Product Review I get the chance to review I larger rifle scope from a company called DiscoveryOpt. This optic is the model HD GEN II 5-30X56SFIR. This scope offer a 5 to 30 magnification and an illuminated reticle. This scope offers many options found on higher end optics and seems to be well built. This video documents my personal thoughts, opinions and experiences with this scope. Yours may vary.

I've got a 3-9x40 that I got (for free), saw the box, saw the turret adjustment *stickers* and thought "this isn't worth the price of shipping." Looked like hot garbage.
And to my surprise, it's now my favorite scope. I've got loads of cheap junk, a couple very average ones, and a couple Vortex. I've got a Leupold around here somewhere, albeit for a caliber I no longer have.
The glass clarity is absurd. The reticle is very fine and sharp. The field of view is un-fucking-believable with borderline *zero* "looking-through-a-toilet-paper-tube" effect. For the money, genuinely, you cannot beat these scopes. My go-to scopes are Hawke, and although I've had great luck with them, Discovery scopes are just a bit brighter and the reticles finer and sharper. Very impressed.
That said, if you're looking for an optic for a SHTF scenario, for god's sake, buy something reputable. But for a bench gun or a squirrel gun? Hell yeah, buy one of these. Eye relief is a bitch on these if you're dialing up to 30 power, and you will lose clarity, but *most* of us need 9 or 12 power at most. These scopes perform exceptionally in that range.

Thank you and I am glad I am not the only one who see that in this optic.

Discovery has really stepped up their game the last two years.

I have this model and it does as advertised. No problems at all. Holds zero and tracks well. Didn't have a throw lever and one isn't available as far as I know, tried a couple of aftermarket ones and can't find one large enough.

I have this one and I can't find a Throw lever that will fit over the large magnification adjustment ring. Any suggestions?

I'd have to build a rifle for it. I'm glad to hear you're not having any performance issues.

I was very impressed with it overall. Especially for the cost.

@@thetexasgunvault Unfortunately (or fortunately, as to not have a reason to spend more money :) ), I don't have a gun that putting that size scope would be suitable for. My "longest range" rifle is my AR15 (Aero upper with BCM lower) and I already have a Primary Arms 1x - 6x LPVO which I had on there for a while and then took off because I learned about the headache of needing to make sure the LPVO is "level" and other measures needed to ensure it's mounted correctly. I don't hunt and am not into PRS competition So currently I have no need for a large scope like that.

Looks like a nice scope. I'm assuming that's a 5.56 nice rifle, by the way. Personally, I would put that on my 6.5 Grendel vs. a 5.56 because it's not an LPVO to use it true potential unless that rifle would be strictly for hunting with my personal options that I have . Though you can reach with a 5.56 I thi k you would get more with a distance rifle from that scope. It's a great video as always, and that is a nice build altogether

Yes it is and I agree. Probably on a more powerful rifle it would shine even better.

would be an appropriate scope for hunting and target shooting with a pcp at 100 yards and below?
