Dr. Ryan's lecture is very informative and does help patient like me not to be that worried, knowing how to do best, discussing this medical issue with my doctor.
Thanks a lot for all the information you provided in your lecture, Dr. Charles Ryan. I feel more confident and hopeful now than before. I now have more options opened up for me. Thank you for the support. 👏👏👍👍🙏🙏
husband has been bleeding has a cath in i irrigate it frequently and pull clots out. if prostate is below why is there bleeding in urine and so much of it
I have an issue with your graph chart of Testosterone vs. PSA. THE TESTOSTERONE level and PSA levels both drop dramatically to near zero very soon after ADT is initiated, and remain low for months or years while on ADT .ONLY THEN does the PSA begin to rise. Whi made your chart???
So I have a question. My uncle was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in 2012 and we recently went to speak with his doctor who said he had tried everything currently available as far as treatment goes his psa is rising despite treatment. so now he is recommending that my uncle just be made as comfortable as possible and he may have 6-12 months to live. Could his diabetes and high blood pressure cause his life to be shortened at this point and what can we expect as far as pain on his end since the cancer is in his bones?
Elizabeth Tran You and your family have my sympathies. I don't think UCTV monitors the video comment sections for questions. Your best bet besides talking to his doctor is to connect with a hospice provider. They probably won't know anything about how the diabetes/high blood pressure contributed, but they will have a lot of knowledge on pain management.
If high testosterone levels aid in the growth of prostate cancer... Why don't young men who have very high levels of testosterone have prostate cancer?
Simply cutting the seminal vesicles won't prevent the testicles from producing testosterone. Removing the testicles will. In this case they use a hormone blocker to reduce testosterone production. Without T a man ages more rapidly.
@@gregsmith6756 Mostly correct. However, the adrenal glands produce 10% of testosterone in men. The adrenals are also responsible for testosterone production in women.
Without T the body shrinks, the bones, muscles, brain. The hormone treatments chemically castrate a man and he dies change. This suppresses the cancer but not cure. The side effects of Lupron ate a massive heart attack among others. So a man may not die of prostate cancer but from a heart attack. Both lead to death. Now what quality of life does one want? My biggest concern is that no doctor or researchers have found why the PSA goes up. I do agree that high estrogen seems like a culprit. Where does one (a man) get it? Plastic water bottles, soy oils in just about every thing, salad dressing, Mayo, breads, tortillas, fast food that is fried in Soy oils. Our whole food system is polluted.
How I wish you are here in Philippines for my father suffering prostate cancer who scattered in his bone.
The best lecture on the topic I have listened to

Thank you for that wonderful overview. As it was made seven years ago it would be great to have an update on current treatments Dr. Ryan.

Testosterone doesn't cause prostate cancer; it only fuels it once it is present, caused by whatever means.
its not testosterone that increases its estrogen
