"It's called the 'Rach 2' because it's one of the most romantic pieces..." I think it's called the 'Rach 2' because it's the 2nd Piano Concerto by Rachmaninov
My mom is an incredible pianist, and I had the privilege of hearing her learn the full concerto for a piano competition. Still brings tears to my eyes 🥹
If you like romantic type of piano concertos I would recommend you Moskovsky’s piano concerto no.1, Bortievickz piano concerto 1 and 3, Medtner’s 1st and 3rd piano concerto’s and piano concertos from Arensky, Henslet, and other less known but yet magnificent romantic composers.
Yes and Eric Carmen had to share royalties with the Rachmaninov Estate for that beautiful piece as well as another one, Never Gonna Fall in Love from Rachmaninov’s Symphony #2. He thought the copyrights expired by the time he wrote both pieces. It did, in the US but not the UK. They worked it out eventually with the Estate getting 12%. If you are going to produce beautiful love ballads, being inspired by Sergei Rachmaninov is a pretty good place to start. Sadly Eric passed away recently.
I always cry at this moment. It's like some kind of outcome of life, despite all the suffering, you confess your love for life... It's phenomenal music.
You play it fantastic man, congrats! It is indeed one of the most beautiful melodies ever written, my favorite concerto ever. I would say it’s a hymn to all the beauty of the world, it really elevates the soul to another dimension.
Why does this classical piece stirs so much emotions inside of my heart every time I listen to it that it makes me cry. 😢 I can feel its magic transcend to the depths of my soul!!! Absolutely beautiful!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I never thought it was romantic, but definitely the second movement of Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2 is a sublime piece of music, with the flaute introducing the theme, a majestic use of strings and the piano entering and developing the story. And wow, the main theme of the Adagio is something special: so delicate and giving an intense feeling of sweet sadness, which is what characterize life itself for many: a tragedy lived with joy. This concerto was composed by Rachmaninov as the first pice after a long period of lack of creativity in which he had depression. The Adagio clearly reflects his pain during this period, but you can sense that it is a pain he was able to process and turn into one of the best classical music compositions of all time.
It is impossible for me to hear this without bursting into tears. This was the music used throughout the all time greatest tearjerker movie: Brief Encounter.
This is my all time favorite moment in classical music and you played it effortlessly. As soon as you started to play, I had tingles all over my body and had tears in my eyes within a few seconds. My heart is swelling with joy at this very instant.
Imagine you're sitting, talking, and laughing with someone. For some reason talking to this person feels different than talking to everyone else. You can talk for hours about anything and it feels like no time has passed at all. You feel safe around this person. You feel at home. You look at them, and then, for a very brief moment, you realize that you have fallen in love. That is how I would describe this part of the piece.
I encourage everyone to listen to this entire concerto to really appreciate this one passage since there are so many other passages of pure beauty in this piece, especially all of Rachmaninoff’s other concertos. His harmonies are truly unique. The creator mentions sublime and I have a really good recommendation for anyone who wants to hear a truly sublime piece that brings me to tears everytime and isn’t as popular as Rach 2; Liszt’s Bénédiction de Dieu dans la solitude. It’s an absolutely breathtaking piece of music.
For days and hours I'm searching and searching a piano piece with the question: "What should I play next after Fantaisie Impromptu?" I wanted a piano piece, which is very emotional to cry. And here it is I think, because you have convinced me with this beautiful piece and you play it really emotional and good!
Thank you, Andy!. This is my favorite piece of classical music, although I particularly like the first movement! Keep up the great work! Greetings from St.Petersburg, Russia.
A while ago I started learning this piece to eventually play to my girlfriend on valentine’s day because she loved to hear me play. I injured my finger but had a splint just so i could try to keep it up and learn the piece before. I spent about 1 month getting it down and perfecting it but when It was just about time to play it for her in person. She left me and broke up and that was the breaking point of my love for piano I didn’t want to touch or even play that piece anymore. It was left to rot and ever since i’ve stopped playing piano but I’ve been healing and i’m fully healed now but it hurts to think about this song but it is such a beautiful song props to Rachmaninoff. If anyone is reading this i hope you have a wonderful morning, or night and don’t take anything for granted. I wish the best for all.
I am almost completely speechless.... The only words my stunned mouth can utter are ones of pure amazement and awe. This is the most beautiful song i have ever heard. Thank you for blessing my day with souch a majesty as this.
Absolutely fantastic performance. After couple of notes I started to cry. What a beautiful full sound of the piano and you play absolutely beautiful!!!💟💋💟💟
I believe that this is not only the most beautiful passage from Rachmaninov, but also the most beautiful, heartfelt music from all the classics. Even Chopin didn’t always do it this way! This is what is called "with all my heart." this is pure love.I would say that it is so beautiful that it is even difficult to been through. for me only Rachmaninov could write so that you just fly away
Watching this on the toilet and listening to this is perhaps one of the most romantic and utterly sublime things to do in life. Speaking from experience.
ty so much for sharing with musical notation too. so sweet and romantic music indeed. I love music. Keep sharing your talent bro. This way makes us happy in life too ...
Eric Carmen used the opening of the movement for the intro to his song "All By Myself." The tone of Rachmaninoff's piece is of infinite longing. A perfect fit for Carmen's ballad.

Yeah. And the coda section of the song was actually composed by Rach himself.

Ah tchaik 1... Named that because it is one of the most sublime and virtuosic pieces of all time
It's called the Rach 2 because it's Rachmaninoff's seconds piano concerto not because it's romantic
The word “Rach” means romantic in Russian. And the 2 is because this is the second movement. Hence Rach 2. “ROMANTIC SECOND”
@@ScottWarner86it’s not 2 because it’s the second movement, it’s 2 because it’s his second piano concerto
