Renaissance : Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - Hard Mode Chapter 1 : Materia Guardian - Perfect Fight

  • I'm back to business!
    What's Changed Since Remake:
    - Remake's combat, while good, lacked interest in many areas. Aerial combat was lackluster and there was no real mechanic to avoid damage aside from dodging, making runs a bit painful. However, in Rebirth, this is no longer relevant. Aerial combat, while still not perfect, has been improved. No characters (besides Nanaki and somewhat Cait Sith) suffer from a lack of reach against airborne enemies. More importantly, the incredible parry mechanic from Intermission has been fully fleshed out and integrated into the game, making virtually any kind of run possible. Additionally, the synergy system is so interesting that it will be hard to pass on amazing scenes. Although it makes strategizing more challenging, it is well worth the effort.
    What to Expect:
    - No damage runs are almost always a given, unless it is more meaningful to the fight to let the boss have its way (as seen in my Sephiroth fight in Remake).
    - Synergy abilities and skills will be explored and showcased in creative ways.
    Regarding This Fight: Benevolence
    - A dream has come true: after 25 years, we finally get to play as "the other guy" in the main series. Materia Guardian itself is pretty weak, but the fight has a great pace. I'm still experimenting with character switch timing and opportunities to use synergies here and there, but I'm very satisfied with the first try! I've experimented a bit more with music synchronization in this one. I'm also satisfied with that, though I'm not sure I'll spend that much time on it in other fights. I have to thank my friend Simon for the music. I'm not into Wo Long, but the choice matches the theme and title if you're into poetry.

    I'm not usually one to ask for this, but I have to try. I'm not aiming to break records, but I believe my gameplay is plenty honest and I've put extra work into it. I'm puzzled by the lack of views and likes. I'm not very prolific either, so I understand this can be a drawback for some people.       Thanks! The music is "Man of Benevolence" from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. I'm glad you enjoyed the character switch aspect of the fight, as that's what I'm emphasizing in this one onward. Feel free to check the video description; I've put everything in there.

      @@papoujustice9454 yes, I noticed that, because many impressive videos, that I definitely love to watch, only do solo runs. I've seen some that utilise two or three characters in a good synergizing way, but they are very few. I remember seeing one with bonds of friendship with Zack and Cloud, and it just looked so cool when the player played both at the same time. I've also thought about doing boss runs with duos. So it's nice to see someone doing that.

      @jensybio I agree. I've done the whole of Remake doing solos, yet I'd argue that as long as the goal is to keep the video entertaining and creative while remaining unscathed and not cheesing the boss, doing duos is harder, and full party even more so. The amount of theory crafting required and character knowledge is a lot more significant.
