Biased commentary when both the commentators are biased towards different crews each is actually really funny

unironically I think it's the best ways for crews to be commentated! It really plays into the crew battle ethos
the ireland vs england crew battles were like that, they had one commentator from ireland and one from england and it was perfect.

i mean at this time DK is experiencing way more innovation and it shows. Prom was great in this MU specifically but we need more innovation on side of the Ganons.... ganon has been typicalling 'good' for like 15 years in the same way

@@lorenzo689 it's unfortunate. it doesn't erase the good melee and the positive interactions he had with lots of people such as this commenter. i was a big fan of mekk as a player and all my friends that talked to him when he was in TX said he was cool. pretty fucked up situation. selfish angle here but it just really sucks. kind of a small version of losing a friend.
This was one of the things I was hyped for this Smash Con. I was rooting for both sides.

Honestly, there needs to be tournaments strictly held with low tier characters. This would definitely change the meta as more time spent with these characters would lead to more discoveries of tech.
Low Tier brackets used to be super common back in the pre-Brawl era, I miss it! Axe's Pikachu might eat a little too well in that meta, but that's not a big problem is it?

@@phil_matic thinking back on this I would add, we know enough about Axe to assume that he would understand the assignment. He'd probably play Young Link or G&W or smth in a low tier bracket

EDIT: On another note, I think the community could be called up on to vote where the cutoff should be for what characters are allowed in this event. It would be great if this kind of tournament happens enough that the tier lists see massive overhauls due to new tech being discovered which can shift matchups in new directions

@@entitiessoul Akir is nasty, but he also started playing DK full time within the last year or two. Moe has a lot more time playing the character and it shows. Akir spams good tech but still doesn't flow as good imho.

It was pretty cool to see how the gaps between each following match up just increase a noticeable amount
I remember that time when DK was in Ocarina of Time and used the Master Dong to defeat Ganondorf and save Hyrule. It was an amazing experience.

I like how no one talks about the unfun nature of this matchup is for Ganon, literally in every game melee & onward. People fondly remember this type of heavy matchup from the casual/friendly matches they've played over the years, but competively speaking Ganon gets so screwed here despite being slightly "higher" on the tier list.
We're lucky dk isn't a better character cuz there's things about his playstyle that would get old if he was very common
Yeah, just look at the combo game between the two. DK can Uair repeatedly into a kill move, and Ganon has...nothing, lol. He just hopes to get an early Tipman kill.

Ganon vs Doc is a pretty even and exciting matchup. They both kind of destroy each other, and the matchup is pretty skill based. At low level Ganon destroys him, but at high level it gets pretty even.

it's normal melee they're just really good. they also wave dash and stuff a lot so they move a lot faster

for this hypothetical mario vs doc crew battle... id like to think that it would get to the moment where scorp has to fight doc lee and they try to call the T.O. but the crew battle has no T.O. and mango is forced to play 1 controller in each hand

It’s a shame mekk is ousted from the community. He was a rising star and very exciting addition to melee. He came up with the idea for this crew battle and ideas like this keep the game fresh! I guess it’s his own fault for being an annoying idiot on his alt account

Ganon DK in Ult is not nearly as entertaining tho. They don't have as strong combo games in Ult
if you have disposable income and can coordinate with 8 other players to go to one event and schedule it before hand with tournament organizers, its possible. also a weird shift to mid-tiers in high level/regional competition followed up by an elaborate video essay on RUclips might help.
Melee Ganon and DK are close in power, but Ult DK is considered noticeably above Ganon. A more apt Ult matchup would be difficult to determine due to the roster size and the way people dispute the lower-mid tiers

This would have been a great crew battle and much closer if the best Ganon player had been in it. Why didn't None play in this? The DK team had way more strong players than the Ganon team. Also Amir for the DK team. Well fun nevertheless
It was still quite close. Remember that Ganon SD'd twice, and it happened to Mekk who was by far their best player as well. If he hadn't done that it's likely this would have been a last stock situation, whereas if none was there then I'd bet the ganons would have handedly won.
This is a massive meta and financial setback to the Ganon community 😂
