This is a basic exercise included in the ‘Disc herniation’ rehab program. Click the link below for more information: www.mrphysio.net/p/herniated-disc
This 'disc decompression' exercise creates much higher abdominal pressure (AP) than the AP control exercise (Refer to the previous video). If you can do 3 sets of this exercise for 3 consecutive days without any pain (Try in different positions with caution), you can proceed to the exercises in the sub-acute phase. The precautions during exercise are the same as in the AP control.
    * The acute phase can be seen as a state of severe inflammatory reactions due to a ruptured lumbar disc, which can usually last from four to six weeks. Some of the features are as follows.
    - Back pain almost all day, regardless of posture or time
    - Multiple wake-ups at night due to severe pain
    - Severe numbness in legs, stinging sensation in feet/toes, etc
If you experience the above symptoms, you should first test it by inhaling only about 50% of your breath and gradually increase your breathing volume. If pain persists, it means that your disc is not ready to take higher pressure so please go back to the previous exercise for a few more days before trying this again.
