This song hits different as you get older.
aint that the truth
I'm now 30 and it means so much more
I work in Pensions in the USA as a Teamster in Chicago. (if you didn't know this song is about George's dad losing his Canadian pension). I'm proud to say that this song inspired me to go fight the good fight for Teamsters that deserve their money. I once got someone a retro check from 1984 thru current (then 2020). I've also saved a handful of guys pensions for making simple mistakes. I'm talking their pension being yanked for life. And I'm in this career cause of this song.
@@rachelware227 Wait till you hit 40+
@@HeyChicagoWhattaSay freaking aye! rock-on!
Man, I remember the first time I spent the night at my first love's place I played this song for us as we lay together and fell asleep. Now whenever I hear this song I think of that moment and her. It was so peaceful and tranquil.
I hope she is okay and happy wherever she is in the world right now.
Bro I hope you’re doing well too man. You’re great friend.
240p, we meet again
lol sounds good though :)
@@masocreits sounds perfect !
and again
240p never die! Hahahaha
12 years and still brilliant
This man is a complete legend!
This definitely hits different now that I’m 38
Same man. Same.
This will always be my favourite live video of all time. So fucking godly.
City and colour fans, myself included, won’t usually say this but Dallas should make more songs in his lower range like thus. In the last 5-7 years he has improved his higher range and vocal agility but we know Dallas can hit those low notes. Yes I know this song was a long time ago and an Alexisonfire song
Yes! His falsetto is great but his lower range hits so much better.
Why not a whole acoustic cover of all AOF discography!???
maquinas2000 not sure if you know this or not, but Dallas and Wade covered a few AOF songs on an EP entitled Death Letter
oh god yes
44 caliber love letter acoustic cover XD
I dont think ive ever heard someone with such a pure voice as Dallas. This is simply perfect
The other day I Saw this Interview where he says he learned How to sing by singing along to Jeff Buckley songs
47 years on this planet and this song means more to me now than ever before.
Keep on the ride with us.
Absolute poetry. I remember my father showing me this song when I was 12, I knew then that it was something special. 21 now and I feel this song in ways unexplainable. Great Canadian music, this will last.
It will last indeed.
holy fck. this made me think about how old CRISIS is. your dad is bad ass for sharing with you lol
I love the original version, and this one makes it even better!
I see the OG as youthful rebellion against the passing of time, and I see this as a man that has embraced the fact he can't outrun time
This is amazeballs!!! but Dallas could sing us the phone book, a recipe for baked beans or even read the instructions off a shampoo bottle and it would sound amazing
Holy shit how did I forget about this both this song and Dallas green
I just got back into it 2 days ago too and I said the same thing hahaha
Never forget this. Dallas is nostalgic forever
COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS ON ONE HAND!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Matt Donnelly .....THERES STILL ONE FINGER UP.....THE MIDDLE ONE..
There's so much to dream about, there must be more to my life... Holy fuck what a Jack Kerouacian great lyric
Count your blessings on one hand
2021 where we at
Dallas range is show good. Mans got it all
What an awesome voice!
This version of this song has been stuck in my head for the last week
i love this song. great rainy day song. then again all of dallas green's songs are amazinge
So Beautiful
He's like chips, i can't just have one... this is the third song I've heard. i don't think i can stop!
There is something so significant about the window in the back; the cars passing. They all one by one pass not knowing beauty is round the corner in the form of this song and that beauty can be missed so easily
Who could dislike this , amazing 💜
Played this for my Music finals and University auditions :) so good :)
his voice is like 1000 angels
his voice is ridiculously awesome
"Poor little tin man, still swinging his axe, even though, even though his joints are clogged with rust..."
this version is somehow becoming the definitive version. and i LOVE both. dallas just knocks it out of the park here..
There is some sort of heaviness that you feel in his words, that brings you down to your knees and leaves you mesmerized.
Всегда буду любить её слушать, спасибо ❤
Just brilliant.. Been watching this vid for years.
Stunning
I'm convinced this man is musical perfection.
Hope all you Australian fans are going to see him in April!!
Best song ever.
I love you Dallas! You are one of the greatest musicians ever!
You won't read this, but i'm sure you can hear it with how loudly i'm screaming. :)
such a great voice.
some might say it isnt special, but you can just feel the passion crawling down your spine.
Can't even tell which version is better. Both are great and have a place in my heart. 💕
Pure serenity.
absolutely KILLS IT!!!
i have so much respect for this man its unreal.
ive listened ti this like 10 times in a row... not old yet
This is an amazing version, he should release acoustic versions of their best songs!
I miss that young and powerful sound he had on the original song, this sounds like an old man ghost... i still like it a lot.
Dallas Green's solo project is "City and Colour," but when he was the clean vocalist for Alexisonfire, he had the rest of the band with him. This is a song the band first did together, and this is his solo rendition of it.
"each year the work load grows"
"im always wishin to late, for things to go my way, it always ends up the same"
"My youth is slipping away"
"so much to dream about, there must be more to my life"
i for one can relate on a high lvl.
ive hit that . in my life.
when i listen to this... everything is beautiful and nothing hurts.
i love this dude, huge an crush. also, this song acoustic is more sweet than a whole band.
That Martin is my favorite guitar in the world.
Dear Dallas, Oh what your music does to us.
That is DEEP. So much respect to your heart.
so meaningful, so beautiful.
absolutely perfect in every single way.
This is the song where you have to si down and truly listen to the words to fully understand the message hidden inside the song.
Flawless. Such a beautiful voice!!
He wrote this song, he can do whatever he wants with it
whenever dallas green does an acoustic version of any song it always sounds amazing. I guess the only way to top this kind of performance would be to do an acoustic version of an acoustic song and dallas green would probably knock it out of the park
one word: BEAUTIFUL!
He is PHENOMENAL.
This song still tops on my playlists
His voice is really something else
" Between the light and shallow waves is where im going to die "
this man moves my soul
Just saw him in Boston last night. The best show I've ever been to. My only disappointment? I didn't get his phone number :(
i like the cars passing by silently in the background
How does this only have 278,291 views?!?!?!?!?
11 years on and this is still truly fantastic. One of my favourite AoF songs, and it sounds amazing in acoustic.
Unsure if this or the original is better! Luckily, we have both :D
Seriously, Dallas never ceases to amaze me. Never in a million years! His voice and guitar playing is beyond amazing. I can't wait to see City & Colour live!
shivers.
lovin the facial expressions
This voice is only awesome, thx Dallas for hours and hours of fantastic art!!!
This is a fantastic version of the original recording! Such a quality to both his playing and his voice even in that mini-studio this is only the 2nd song of theirs I've heard and I'm already sold on buying their albums (the other was Waiting - from the same live set).
I am melting
jesus. lovely.
I hear this song every day of my life, calms me, is divine
They're both good, no need to compare them.
this is so good to play
this guy is amazing ,i love dallas green so relatable ,
I WANT THIS ON SPOTIFY!!!!
Barmayneg R. It’s on Spotify, I found it a few months back myself
@@jamesgiannaros3064 whats it under?
@@jamesgiannaros3064 nevermind. I just found it after some digging
Actually sounds like a completely different song. If I didn't know the words so perfectly i would be like, what song is this. Amazing. I loveeee you Dallas Green!
Goosebumps...
pure genius
gluabab the tuning is in Drop D* when I play it, it sounds right. To find the correct (or extremely close) chords look in the related videos for boiled frogs cover by sometimes7777 thats where I learned how to play it, you can see exactly what hes playing. Hope that helps.
*Drop D makes it easier to play power chords because in this tuning you just have to bar the fret
This has to be my favorite live performance ever.
Oh my god. I love this cover so much. Dallas Green, you are my hero.
Hes such a good singer
:O!! i love this. i love the alexisonfire version normally.. but this is even better.. now i can listen to this song what ever mood i'm in. i'll just switch versions. :)
WOW what a fantastic cover!
beautifullllll
Yeah, he has his own acoustic project called City and Colour, and he does a few Alexis songs.
I just want to hug him.
This is quite possibly the greatest thing my ears have ever experienced, and they've been through a lot xD. Amazing, 'nuff said.
Cars going past must have never know this incredible man was there.
i love and this man,i hate him because he is so good...and i love him because he is so good.
wow, amazing voice.
