      You're saying you came out for Wrestling and you started at 152 pounds and you're not at 120?
      That's awesome. As long as you're healthy and feeling good, that's great for you. Just keep going. I got this from an old coach, but he told me he used to do X number of pushup's and X number sit-ups before bed.
      If you can do 20 in one go, try doing 4 sets of 20 with almost no break. It's a way to get in a GREAT core workout, your shoulders, back...and do it in 5 minutes before bed.
      That was some advice I got and it served me well, but it's cool to see you in the sport. Cayden seems to be really encouraging people with such a positive attitude.

      Wrestling sucks when you're drilling and I think too many HS and Middle School coaches spend too much time doing that. You need to, but...again, we all know that sucks. The biggest gains will come from just getting out there and rolling and finding stuff that works.

  • @scourge8097
    @scourge8097 Год назад +1

    First of all...look at how many people in the comments have said they started Wrestling or kept Wrestling or you've inspired them?
    Whatever you finish up doing at Parkside will pale in comparison to that! I think one kid said he was over 150 pounds, he got into Wrestling and now he's the Varsity 120? Assuming he's not just cutting in a terribly unhealthy manner, that's a kid who has gotten into so much better shape that will probably carry with him the rest of his life because of your influence.
    Second, onto the Wrestling...amazing how far you've come. You're doing everything right, you're taking care of your body, you're staying around a good weight so you don't have to go more than a day without eating or drinking, you're working hard. All of it.
    The ONLY little advice I'd have...and you sorta touched on it...but I'd start drilling just a simple little snatch single. You're in position a lot when you stuff the shot and a guy is backing out. I think if you just went to that snatch and then either ran him through with the double or just pulled it out...that COULD be another piece of the arsenal.
    Just throwing that out there. Just a safe shot and it can open things up a bit...but of course, it's really easy to see what you should do when WATCHING.

    I have some ideas for how you can improve your top game. I'd stay behind them more and use crab or legs when given the right opportunity. The path to turning means trapping a wrist (upgrade that to a wing or reverse wing when you can) and working towards a stack half. Gene Mills is the most prolific pinner in NCAA history I'd encourage you to study him. David Taylor is the modern day version of what I think the most evolved top game looks like. You need to have a clear defined path of how you are working towards a pin at every second from top. 1.) Forward pressure 2.) Trap wrist 3.) Thread half 4.) Isolate one shoulder to the mat. 5.) Stack
    If you can get one shoulder to the mat you can pin anyone.
    Bottom work I think focus on going a little slower and keeping stronger base positions. Bottom work needs to be methodical otherwise you open up big paths of danger. Back pressure, seal out, hip heist or stand and hip heist. 2nd level is an acceptable position to build from as well. On bottom you are losing if you have weight on your hands.
    Neutral if you study the art of the fake ala Pat Smith and increase your fake rate 3x you'll improve a lot. I would also recommend increasing your efficiency from the front head lock position. There are key tiny details that force that to work at the college level. Mark Branch has some videos that explain this in great detail or I'd recommend Keith Lowrance Granby System front head lock.
    You are doing amazing and I think you have what it takes to be a national champion.
