Mall demolitions are so sad, especially if you're of a certain age. A few weeks ago, I went to Logan Valley Mall in Altoona, which used to be the big mall for much of Central PA. So many vacancies, and this was during the prime of back to school shopping season. I remember when we went there in the 80s to school shop, it was always busy regardless of what day of the week or what time.

Thanks for stopping by our channel and sharing your memories Rick! You're right, it's sad to see our old stomping grounds demolished. We spent SO much time at the mall as kids and teens. Back to school shopping was my favorite! We probably complained about the crowds back then, but now I kinda miss seeing all those people at the mall, sigh.

Totally agree, it is sad when any place that was once so alive with people and events just seems to fall to the wayside, gets abandoned, and then torn down due to lack of interest. On a sidebar, I was working in several malls in the Massachusetts area and was amazed just how vibrant and busy they are because I hear they limit the expansion of such venues to prevent overbuilding and moderate the kind of land speculation that obviously runs rampant in many other states like Texas, thus keeping their shopping industry healthy. I suppose it is somewhat of a double edged sword either way.

The Internet is ruining everything. All but one office supply store in my city has closed (4 shut down total). That's a staggering loss. I used to work at one and the average income for the store would be around $3-4 million per year in sales after taxes. $16 million in losses. That will hurt any city. Now it's tough to find my favorite pens or even ink cartridges for my printer and the printer is only 3 years old.

Thank you so much for posting, my wife and I live nearby and constantly straining to peek over the fence to get a good view. This was very helpful, and yeah, we are both bummed to lose our closest mall, but hopefully what is coming will be much better.

You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it! We live in Kansas, but whenever we visit Dallas, we always feel compelled to stop by and check on Collin Creek Mall. It's a slow process, but we do hope the new retail area will be an improvement in the long run. Thanks for watching!

Sorry Jimmy but I don't think there will be another mall. Malls are a dead concept. Today's teens would rather text on their stupid overpriced phones than hang out at the mall. I can't do ANYTHING that I loved as a teen
      - drive to the mall on weekends and meet my friend
      - go to the theatre and see the latest movie (there is only one theater in my city for 40 square miles)
      - play games like Dance Dance Revolution at the arcade (the last one in my city closed a few years ago)
      - munch something in the food court while gossiping about the latest comic books (we loved the Punisher, Witchblade and Fathom; what's more heartbreaking: Michael Turner, the creator of Witchblade and Fathom, died a few years ago. I remember meeting him at a Comic Con, he was a very nice guy and he clearly loved his fans. He drew a picture of one his characters for me. I still have it.)
      - go to a Virgin Records store and look at the latest CDs
      - gawk at the girls in their spandex, hair scrunchies, Keds and Esprit clothes (does Esprit even exist any more? Anyone know? The girls in my high school loved their white denim jackets and jeans and multicolored Swatches)
      - and the best part: nobody had a cell phone. We weren't distracted by them. I think cell phones played a role in why we're much fatter today than 40-somethings in the late 1980s. When I was a teen, I seldom saw overweight people. I think people of all ages were far more active back then so walking in malls burned off a lot of a fat and calories.

Yes!! Same here, and I loved the original concept with the creek running through and those little shops underneath the foodcourt area. Sad to see Collin Creek's demise. I sure hope the new changes will benefit the area! Thanks for watching our video!

Is this the mall that built the parking lot over a 'covered' creek?

This is a demolition update. We like to check-in and see what's happening with Collin Creek whenever we're in town. We have no information about the future of the project, other than what's on the developer's website here: www.collincreekplano.com/
