I grew up in Plano Texas, all my childhood memories where in that mall in the early 2000s. Unfortunately I left Plano in 2011, and I decided to look up this mall & I'm barely finding out it's gone.😢 Thank you for the vídeo it took me back for a nostalgic vibe.
Same here... I feel your pain. But on the plus side, the company that's redeveloping the area seems to be doing an excellent job of preserving parts of the mall. They're keeping and using the main atrium (both levels) but it will be more of an open-air concept. We drive by there whenever we visit the Dallas area, and we've been pleasantly surprised to see elements of the old mall that have been saved (even those iconic entryway arches!) You guys aren't old at all. I am. In 1970 I was a sophomore at Plano High School, and an usher at the Cameo Theater. It was the only building in that vast field which eventually became Collin Creek Mall. After the mall was built, my mother and her friends would shop and walk there on hot days. Plano was a whole different place in the late 60s and early 70s. My 'Good old days'
So many memories here at this mall. I remember a decent gyro place in the food court, Tilt arcade, Sound Wherehouse... the list goes on and on. How times have changed in the last 30 years!

Before Amazing Jake’s, it was Lord & Taylor, then Mervyn’s. Gadzook’s was on the bottom floor next to Amazing Jake’s. With that being said, there was never a Build-A-Bear that existed in Collin Creek Mall. The store you are showing was The Children’s Place store.
I shopped here with my grandma like every other weekend when I was little and when all of our favorite shops closed we just went to another one and visited this one a few months ago it’s so sad 😭 we slowly watched it die and it’s sucks because I can remember when it was thriving
I went with my Grandma almost every weekend too! I remember the water feature and creek downstairs with the little creekside path to the shops. It felt magical down there! I loved going to the popcorn store that was down there and getting samples! haha My Grandma STILL got her hair done at JCP Salon almost until the end. She died in July of 2020 and then JCP officially closed just after that... My siblings and I swear that she was the one keeping that place open all these years. So many memories there... I really miss those times with her.
Among the COUNTLESS memories I have of that place (I loved that small pathway on the ground floor with the mini shops in the 80s), as a kid I always thought that beautiful water feature that ran through the middle of the mall was the actual Collin Creek

Matt, it WAS built over the actual Collin Creek...the reason for the name of the Mall. I just wish the gal in this video would quit saying that it's "Dallas"...NO it isn't! TOTALLY different county which is Collin county and NOT Dallas county! We are NORTH of the Dallas county courthouse by about 20-25 miles. Collin McKinney was for whom the Mall, the county, the college, streets, buildings, and even our county seat has been named! This gal is a former teacher so she should know better!
I rode my skateboard to Collin Creek almost everyday, after school. After moving away, I hadn't been back for decades. I stopped in around 2000 or 2001. The decline was just starting and wow. I'm with you on feeling the sadness.

I grew up in a house right across the street (off of Alma) lived at cc mall. The hello kitty store, the arcade, Babbages (sp?) and art explosion were my favorites in the 80’s. I got glamour shots done there. Vs, gadzooks, the food court and that see through elevator was so much fun. I worked at foleys later on in the 90’s and my then bf work at sound warehouse, I think it was by one of the entrances? So many memories.

Yes, Gadzooks! That’s what you’d say when you saw the prices. Bought many skateboards there, and Many Swatch Watches as well as clothes. Radio shack, Sears and Sound Warehouse were the other stores I’d visit. The covered area on the first level was called the river walk I think. And I wouldn’t forget to stop by Sabarros or Arbys for the 5 for 5! Last time in Collin Creek mall was to buy the 7 plus from a kiosk called Cellaris.

I grew up near Alma and Parker. I remember my family and I driving by and checking out the progress as it was being built. We went all of the time once it opened. So sad to think it’s going/gone but I can keep the great memories! I also have wonderful memories of the drive-in that used to be on 75 and Parker. I wouldn’t trade growing up in the 80’s era and that part of Plano for anything.
My buddies and I rode our bikes there from Richardson back when it opened. Those water features were great. Must be about 40 years now. Soon, I'll be like the mall.

I have so many good memories at this mall. I remember my parents use to drop me off at a daycare center inside the mall while they went and ate dinner at the Luby’s with my older siblings. I must have been 4 or 5 years old at the time. I also met my wife who use to work at the JC Penny’s and we’ve been married almost 18 years now.

I worked at Sears from 92-98. Before that I met my girlfriend at the Mall and we would go around the Riverwalk section and go to the poster store, Noah’s Ark, the candy store and there was also a Spencer’s-esque store that sold adult novelties.
Amazing Jake’s is where we took our summer program for elementary children and always had a blast! The children were entertained for hours for a reasonable price.

Damn! I used to live in the Dallas area in the mid 90s. Used to shop for video games, books, toys and souvenirs there as a kid. Waldenbooks, KB Toys, Electronic Botique, Heart of Texas (souvenir shop), even Taco Bueno on the Terrace Food Court. #BigDMemories!

I haven't lived in Dallas since 1996 but I used to go to this mall when I was in high school and I lived in Richardson at the time so it was a bit of a drive. The thing I remember most is the pathway of stores she mentions at 3:46. They used to sell really unique and cool things at those stores (exactly what I used to buy escapes me) but that was my favorite part of the mall. It was kind of like a little shopping village within the mall with stores that most malls didn't have.
Yes!! I absolutely loved those little shops, and I definitely remember buying stickers there for my collection. It was such a unique feature of that mall. Just now found this video of your tour. I didn’t get to go back before they close the doors last week. I’m so glad you got a shot of the play area. I have such fond memories of taking my kid over there when he was younger. This really breaks my heart. 😭😭
Last I was there was in early February for my oldest daughter’s birthday party at Amazing Jake’s. We had a ton of fun but I remember looking out into the mall and being astounded at how there were literally no people there on a Saturday evening. Back when my office was catty-corner from the mall I would go there and walk on my lunch breaks. Last time I did that before my office was moved back in ‘14 I noticed that Chick-Fil-A was gone from the food court. At that point I knew the mall was going under. Still need to go walk through one last time myself!
It a shame but with internet shopping it's the end for some of those shopping malls even here in the UK and our high streets. Nice tour their Keith and Abby thanks for sharing
We can blame a lot of this on Amazon AND the lazy-ass consumer. They're so large that if milennials keep shopping there, they'll take over the entire national retail chain. That means HIGHER prices for everyone and we won't be able to do a thing about it. What are you going to do if you need basics like fertilizer and Home Depot and Lowes have all been driven out of business by Amazon? You buy at Amazon because you HAVE to and they might charge you an extra $2 for the same bag of fertilizer. What about Xmas shopping? No more Toys R Us, remember? You might find decent deals at Target but what if Target is next? That new toy your son wants now costs an extra 10% because Amazon will be the ONLY one selling it. See where this is going? And don't cry or complain that it's "so unfair." You GAVE Amazon the power and HELPED them drive everyone else out of business, America. Your laziness is what makes them stronger every day. If the grocery stores start to go bankrupt, there will be another recession because everyone will be forced to shop there. And I guarantee you, your grocery bill will go UP even though you buy the same stuff you always did for the last 5 years.
Miss the Valley View mall as well. Now this. Galleria is what hurt Valley View the most. At least Northpark is still going strong. Collin Creek could have been an outdoor mall.

It is so sad I grew up in Plano Texas I graduated from Plano East... I have a video on my page too.. I was also there today and they've closed down so many more stores.. today was the last day then I went in there they're going to tear it down by the end of this month.. I will be there to record it.
Me and my friends used to go to this mall every weekend. It used to be so full of people and life.. I remember all of the Christmas stuff and lights.. I remember the river running through it.. that was back in the 80s..
Have you looked around the country in the last few years? Malls are the biggest thing dying right now. Amazon is driving ALL of them out of business. They demolished two huge malls in Texas in the last few years and this is next. I will NOT be surprised a bit if the Dallas Galleria gets demolished. Look on Dan Bell's channel. He never seems to have trouble finding another mall video to upload and many of them have been demolished.
Bought my first coach bag at that Macy’s in 2007 last time I went shopping there was when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2015. I bought a skirt from Charlotte ruse and a pretzel.. sad
Man Amazing Jake's took over years after Mervyn's closed and they almost made use of all the space effectively. I can only imagine how cool a sticker store would be back then. Amazing Jake's is more for kids and maybe adult groups. It was a like a more budget friendly Dave n Busters with a pizza buffet. Ah, the corn dog place. There was a Taco Bueno for a couple years. I remember how it was declining after 2001 or something. It made me sad but could still make some memories
Amazing Jake's sounds like a cool place. We had moved away by the time it took over, so we never got a chance to go there. I had forgotten about the Taco Bueno, but it was definitely my favorite of the fast-food taco chains. Two of the three malls I spent my youth in are gone... The Parks Mall in Arlington is still doing pretty good, but I'm sure it won't last forever. Now we get outdoor "malls" which are glorified shopping centers, but even the newer outdoor outlet mall in our town has gone downhill, and it's only been here for maybe 10 years.
Yep. I recently read that DFW is the most “over-malled” city in the US, which is likely true. It was bound to happen, but it’s still sad seeing these huge places being torn down. Wait until you see tomorrow’s video of Valley View Mall, currently under demolition. It’s crazy!! 😲

So sad! I remember moving to Plano from Louisiana in 2009. I was so amazed at this mall because I was from a small town. I remember taking my son here when he was a baby and letting him play downstairs. I can also remember mall walking with my Mother in Law and son. So sad. I also remember how at 15th Street and Custer there was an Albertsons in the shopping Center and now their is like an Asian Market. So sad. :(
So true! The mall used to be THE place to shop, and now they’re just dying. Build-a-Bear is such a cool place for kiddos (and a dangerous place for grownups’ wallets, ha ha!)
I commented on your other video that it had been a while since I had been there, just one time inside with my daughter around maybe 2013 or so, then to JC Penneys briefly in 2016. I forgot I had taken her to Amazing Jake's in 2018 (we won a gift card for there at a school raffle). It was actually pretty fun, but we only went that one time.
We moved away from the Dallas area around 2004, so we never got to experience Amazing Jake's and missed the latter years of Collin Creek. That was probably a good thing because it would've made me sad to watch the decline, sigh.
I went to this mall around 4 months ago, and spoke to some shop keepers, it's sad to see the state of the mall. But it's crazy that it's getting a $1 Billion dollar renovation.

Rest in peace indeed. There you go Bob! I kind of wonder what we'll go next? I mean in some ways it doesn't bother me since I can't go shopping anymore. But I can remember my dad wondering what life would be like in 50 years. I know he would love the technology because he was an engineer and was into robotics before he died. But at the same time he head his head in the past with nostalgia as well. I got a flash of nostalgia myself a sign advertising the town of Plano dot-dot-dot I went to the chili cook-off there when I was in Dallas and discovered at Ohio and Texas do not do chili the same way LOL! Cincinnati chili is actually an Eastern European dish the meat is cooked for so long it's almost granular and for the Texas Chili it's more like stew beef. But almost all of it whether it's Greek or Mexican it's too hot for me! You are really getting good with the Drone, Keith! And whichever one of you edits, you or both are fantastic! I grew up in North Garland / Richardson area and at 47 now im still choked up about Richardson square mall gone but now this.... im crushed to see another good mall go. Its a feeling of "where is my world going?". Like you for the last 2 years I have been out of the Dallas/Collin area but do plan moving back soon to the Plano area but... I attended the grand opening of this mall in 1981. I couldn’t get my mom to go, as she insisted on staying home to watch the Royal wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana
Along with Valley View that one is going down to I actually grew up going to Southwest Center Mall I don't think they're going to tear that one down they're actually going to redevelop that place.
Such a shame when they pull malls down. With online sales etc nowadays the death of highstreet they say, We'll eventually never be able to buy anything in public again. All can hope is they replace it with something nice, although always ends up parking lots or luxury apartments no normal person can afford. Nice to you got to walk around before they tear it down though.
It’s true!! And guess what... it’s going to be luxury apartments and shops!! You guessed it! Also a water feature. I’m sure it will be nice, but it’s like saying goodbye to my youth. Boohoo 😭
This is what happens when people are so damn lazy that they want to buy everryyything online. There will definitely be a recession coming and it may not be huge but it'll last a long time since there's no way any of these malls or stores will come back. And this recession will definitely last through SEVERAL presidents. As long as people keep saying "Screw that 5 minute trip, I'll buy it at Amazon!" then Amazon will be the only brand left and trust me, they WILL raise prices once all their competitors have been driven into the ground. It's NO different from oil. Do you really think OPEC would have kept their prices where they were in the 1980s if a massive oil field was suddenly discovered in the US or Canada that is the same size as all the oil fields in Saudi Arabia? It's first grade economics: when you have NO competition, you don't need to worry about customers. They'll be force to buy your product even if it's overpriced 10, 15 or even 25% more than before the competitors went bankrupt. And trust me, the retail crash is coming and Amazon will win and it will financially damage the US economy in ways you never dreamed. And it's going to last a L O O O O O O O N G time so get used to it.
People walk it for exercise, since its indoor it doesn't matter what the weather is, ground is flat and even which is good if your older or disabled, and relatively safe (no one can jump out of a bush or if you fall and cant get up at least the cleaning crew will find you). It also makes Mall look more active which is what they get out of it.
Why LOL? Will you be laughing when Amazon has COMPLETE control of the entire US retail economy and can dictate whatever prices it wants? Will you enjoy having to spend an extra four dollars for a $2 item because no brick and mortar stores exist to sell it any more? Seriously, think about it. That's where we're headed and I predict there will be a recession that will outlast 2-3 presidents. It won't be a huge recession but it will put thousands and thousands of people out of jobs and entire brands will collapse. Remember Toys R Us? Gone. Benetton? Gone. Pan Am? Gone. Even Wal Mart is having financial issues although they fight tooth and nail to cover them up. They once abandoned a store in Texas and didn't even tell anybody. Just packed up and left. Prepare for a lot more of that happening at places like JC Penney or Foleys, etc.

Oh wow! I remember watching them build the mall. I lived in the apartments right across from Collin Creek. We would ride our bikes over to the first anchor store, Foley’s (I think), and watch them work on the rest of it from the giant glass wall. In high school, I remember hanging out with my friends in the food court or just walking the halls together and checking out all of the cool stores. What was the name of the record store at the mall? I remember getting there as soon as a new Journey, STYX or Scorpions album was released. I still live in Plano but Stonebriar became the only mall I ever visit. Goodbye Collin Creek Mall. You served us well and I spent untold amounts of money in your stores but time marches on. Thanks for making this video.

This almost makes me feel like crying. I worked in an office building across the street around 1999-2000 and spent countless hours in that mall. A lot of memories will be torn down when the wrecking ball comes.

That was my mall of choice in the 90's. I remember when people were saying that is was going away, and I couldn't believe it, because the mall was still busy. I believe that malls like Prestonwood, Valley View and Collin Creek were killed off, because the upkeep on an older enclosed mall became too much, over the actual amount of shoppers that attended those malls.
Well, there were a few other people there, mostly walking for exercise. But it definitely felt weird seeing the mall so empty. I can remember shopping there when it was very crowded and you could hardly even find a parking space!

I grew up in Plano Texas, all my childhood memories where in that mall in the early 2000s. Unfortunately I left Plano in 2011, and I decided to look up this mall & I'm barely finding out it's gone.😢 Thank you for the vídeo it took me back for a nostalgic vibe.
Same here... I feel your pain. But on the plus side, the company that's redeveloping the area seems to be doing an excellent job of preserving parts of the mall. They're keeping and using the main atrium (both levels) but it will be more of an open-air concept. We drive by there whenever we visit the Dallas area, and we've been pleasantly surprised to see elements of the old mall that have been saved (even those iconic entryway arches!) You guys aren't old at all. I am. In 1970 I was a sophomore at Plano High School, and an usher at the Cameo Theater. It was the only building in that vast field which eventually became Collin Creek Mall. After the mall was built, my mother and her friends would shop and walk there on hot days. Plano was a whole different place in the late 60s and early 70s. My 'Good old days'
So many memories here at this mall. I remember a decent gyro place in the food court, Tilt arcade, Sound Wherehouse... the list goes on and on. How times have changed in the last 30 years!
Thanks for filming this. I remember the "creek" going through the whole mall. It's a vague memory for me, but I'll still love this mall and its arches.
Before Amazing Jake’s, it was Lord & Taylor, then Mervyn’s. Gadzook’s was on the bottom floor next to Amazing Jake’s. With that being said, there was never a Build-A-Bear that existed in Collin Creek Mall. The store you are showing was The Children’s Place store.

I shopped here with my grandma like every other weekend when I was little and when all of our favorite shops closed we just went to another one and visited this one a few months ago it’s so sad 😭 we slowly watched it die and it’s sucks because I can remember when it was thriving
I went with my Grandma almost every weekend too! I remember the water feature and creek downstairs with the little creekside path to the shops. It felt magical down there! I loved going to the popcorn store that was down there and getting samples! haha
My Grandma STILL got her hair done at JCP Salon almost until the end. She died in July of 2020 and then JCP officially closed just after that... My siblings and I swear that she was the one keeping that place open all these years. So many memories there... I really miss those times with her.

Among the COUNTLESS memories I have of that place (I loved that small pathway on the ground floor with the mini shops in the 80s), as a kid I always thought that beautiful water feature that ran through the middle of the mall was the actual Collin Creek

Matt, it WAS built over the actual Collin Creek...the reason for the name of the Mall. I just wish the gal in this video would quit saying that it's "Dallas"...NO it isn't! TOTALLY different county which is Collin county and NOT Dallas county! We are NORTH of the Dallas county courthouse by about 20-25 miles. Collin McKinney was for whom the Mall, the county, the college, streets, buildings, and even our county seat has been named! This gal is a former teacher so she should know better!
I rode my skateboard to Collin Creek almost everyday, after school. After moving away, I hadn't been back for decades. I stopped in around 2000 or 2001. The decline was just starting and wow. I'm with you on feeling the sadness.
That mall was beautiful when it first opened. Live trees and a creek running through the center. It was magical.

I grew up in a house right across the street (off of Alma) lived at cc mall. The hello kitty store, the arcade, Babbages (sp?) and art explosion were my favorites in the 80’s. I got glamour shots done there. Vs, gadzooks, the food court and that see through elevator was so much fun. I worked at foleys later on in the 90’s and my then bf work at sound warehouse, I think it was by one of the entrances? So many memories.

Yes, Gadzooks! That’s what you’d say when you saw the prices. Bought many skateboards there, and Many Swatch Watches as well as clothes. Radio shack, Sears and Sound Warehouse were the other stores I’d visit. The covered area on the first level was called the river walk I think. And I wouldn’t forget to stop by Sabarros or Arbys for the 5 for 5! Last time in Collin Creek mall was to buy the 7 plus from a kiosk called Cellaris.
Gosh looking at that mall now vs what it used to look like is crazy, the 80's had so much personality!

I grew up near Alma and Parker. I remember my family and I driving by and checking out the progress as it was being built. We went all of the time once it opened. So sad to think it’s going/gone but I can keep the great memories! I also have wonderful memories of the drive-in that used to be on 75 and Parker. I wouldn’t trade growing up in the 80’s era and that part of Plano for anything.
My buddies and I rode our bikes there from Richardson back when it opened. Those water features were great. Must be about 40 years now. Soon, I'll be like the mall.

I have so many good memories at this mall. I remember my parents use to drop me off at a daycare center inside the mall while they went and ate dinner at the Luby’s with my older siblings. I must have been 4 or 5 years old at the time. I also met my wife who use to work at the JC Penny’s and we’ve been married almost 18 years now.

Before that I met my girlfriend at the Mall and we would go around the Riverwalk section and go to the poster store, Noah’s Ark, the candy store and there was also a Spencer’s-esque store that sold adult novelties.

Amazing Jake’s is where we took our summer program for elementary children and always had a blast! The children were entertained for hours for a reasonable price.

Damn! I used to live in the Dallas area in the mid 90s. Used to shop for video games, books, toys and souvenirs there as a kid. Waldenbooks, KB Toys, Electronic Botique, Heart of Texas (souvenir shop), even Taco Bueno on the Terrace Food Court. #BigDMemories!
It's so crazy to see malls like this being demolished. It doesn't feel like that long ago that these were bustling places packes full of people and life. Thanks for sharing this video. We have a mall in Anchorage that I think is headed this way as well.

I haven't lived in Dallas since 1996 but I used to go to this mall when I was in high school and I lived in Richardson at the time so it was a bit of a drive. The thing I remember most is the pathway of stores she mentions at 3:46. They used to sell really unique and cool things at those stores (exactly what I used to buy escapes me) but that was my favorite part of the mall. It was kind of like a little shopping village within the mall with stores that most malls didn't have.
Yes!! I absolutely loved those little shops, and I definitely remember buying stickers there for my collection. It was such a unique feature of that mall. Just now found this video of your tour. I didn’t get to go back before they close the doors last week. I’m so glad you got a shot of the play area. I have such fond memories of taking my kid over there when he was younger. This really breaks my heart. 😭😭

This mall lasted about 40 years and Stonebriar is about 20 year old so my guess is about middle age for a mall.

Last I was there was in early February for my oldest daughter’s birthday party at Amazing Jake’s. We had a ton of fun but I remember looking out into the mall and being astounded at how there were literally no people there on a Saturday evening.
Back when my office was catty-corner from the mall I would go there and walk on my lunch breaks. Last time I did that before my office was moved back in ‘14 I noticed that Chick-Fil-A was gone from the food court. At that point I knew the mall was going under. Still need to go walk through one last time myself!

We can blame a lot of this on Amazon AND the lazy-ass consumer. They're so large that if milennials keep shopping there, they'll take over the entire national retail chain. That means HIGHER prices for everyone and we won't be able to do a thing about it. What are you going to do if you need basics like fertilizer and Home Depot and Lowes have all been driven out of business by Amazon? You buy at Amazon because you HAVE to and they might charge you an extra $2 for the same bag of fertilizer. What about Xmas shopping? No more Toys R Us, remember? You might find decent deals at Target but what if Target is next? That new toy your son wants now costs an extra 10% because Amazon will be the ONLY one selling it. See where this is going? And don't cry or complain that it's "so unfair." You GAVE Amazon the power and HELPED them drive everyone else out of business, America. Your laziness is what makes them stronger every day. If the grocery stores start to go bankrupt, there will be another recession because everyone will be forced to shop there. And I guarantee you, your grocery bill will go UP even though you buy the same stuff you always did for the last 5 years.
Miss the Valley View mall as well. Now this. Galleria is what hurt Valley View the most. At least Northpark is still going strong. Collin Creek could have been an outdoor mall.
How sad Aunt Anne’s pretzels were good. Good thing there is another location at the Galleria.
🤔 yeah I been to that amazing Jake it had in door go karts. Rock climbing arcade mini golf lazer tag a :D buffet! Lots of fun things to do. Multiple floors as well i wish I could describe it better tho.

Thanks for mentioning the water feature, I was wondering where it went. I used to go to a store behind it to buy garbage pail kids around 86 or so. We moved away a few years later. I also remember eating at the Luby's with the family then seeing the moving Charlie Brown Christmas displays.

It is so sad I grew up in Plano Texas I graduated from Plano East... I have a video on my page too.. I was also there today and they've closed down so many more stores.. today was the last day then I went in there they're going to tear it down by the end of this month.. I will be there to record it.
Me and my friends used to go to this mall every weekend. It used to be so full of people and life.. I remember all of the Christmas stuff and lights.. I remember the river running through it.. that was back in the 80s..

Have you looked around the country in the last few years? Malls are the biggest thing dying right now. Amazon is driving ALL of them out of business. They demolished two huge malls in Texas in the last few years and this is next. I will NOT be surprised a bit if the Dallas Galleria gets demolished. Look on Dan Bell's channel. He never seems to have trouble finding another mall video to upload and many of them have been demolished.
Bought my first coach bag at that Macy’s in 2007 last time I went shopping there was when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2015. I bought a skirt from Charlotte ruse and a pretzel.. sad

Two of the three malls I spent my youth in are gone... The Parks Mall in Arlington is still doing pretty good, but I'm sure it won't last forever. Now we get outdoor "malls" which are glorified shopping centers, but even the newer outdoor outlet mall in our town has gone downhill, and it's only been here for maybe 10 years.
Yep. I recently read that DFW is the most “over-malled” city in the US, which is likely true. It was bound to happen, but it’s still sad seeing these huge places being torn down. Wait until you see tomorrow’s video of Valley View Mall, currently under demolition. It’s crazy!! 😲

I’ve never understood why anyone would want to walk outside around a hot parking lot with heavy traffic. Outdoor shopping centers suck. Hey, i’m done here at Ross, let hop in the car and drive a half mile down the parking lot to Kohl’s!
So sad! I remember moving to Plano from Louisiana in 2009. I was so amazed at this mall because I was from a small town. I remember taking my son here when he was a baby and letting him play downstairs. I can also remember mall walking with my Mother in Law and son. So sad. I also remember how at 15th Street and Custer there was an Albertsons in the shopping Center and now their is like an Asian Market. So sad. :(

So true! The mall used to be THE place to shop, and now they’re just dying. Build-a-Bear is such a cool place for kiddos (and a dangerous place for grownups’ wallets, ha ha!)
I commented on your other video that it had been a while since I had been there, just one time inside with my daughter around maybe 2013 or so, then to JC Penneys briefly in 2016. I forgot I had taken her to Amazing Jake's in 2018 (we won a gift card for there at a school raffle). It was actually pretty fun, but we only went that one time.
We moved away from the Dallas area around 2004, so we never got to experience Amazing Jake's and missed the latter years of Collin Creek. That was probably a good thing because it would've made me sad to watch the decline, sigh.
I went to this mall around 4 months ago, and spoke to some shop keepers, it's sad to see the state of the mall. But it's crazy that it's getting a $1 Billion dollar renovation.

It was weird and sad seeing this mall so empty, but wait until you see tomorrow’s video!! We went to another Dallas mall that’s being torn down, so crazy to see! Yes, this was a great mall in its day. That was a Sephora... good eye! 😂

Rest in peace indeed. There you go Bob! I kind of wonder what we'll go next? I mean in some ways it doesn't bother me since I can't go shopping anymore. But I can remember my dad wondering what life would be like in 50 years. I know he would love the technology because he was an engineer and was into robotics before he died. But at the same time he head his head in the past with nostalgia as well. I got a flash of nostalgia myself a sign advertising the town of Plano dot-dot-dot I went to the chili cook-off there when I was in Dallas and discovered at Ohio and Texas do not do chili the same way LOL! Cincinnati chili is actually an Eastern European dish the meat is cooked for so long it's almost granular and for the Texas Chili it's more like stew beef. But almost all of it whether it's Greek or Mexican it's too hot for me! You are really getting good with the Drone, Keith! And whichever one of you edits, you or both are fantastic! Thanks Donna!! Plano, Texas is the neighbor to the north of Richardson where I grew up! Texans are pretty serious about their chili, lol! And no beans allowed, ha ha! We are very nostalgic about our malls, and I spent many hours at this particular mall. It’s sad to see this, the end of an era for sure!

Never heard of Amazing Jake's but pizza and games always sounds fun! Our empty anchor stores usually just turn into seasonal Halloween stores. Sad to see the end of the mall but glad you guys could get in one last visit to relive some memories of Build-a-Bear and silly corn dog hats lol.
I grew up in North Garland / Richardson area and at 47 now im still choked up about Richardson square mall gone but now this.... im crushed to see another good mall go. Its a feeling of "where is my world going?". Like you for the last 2 years I have been out of the Dallas/Collin area but do plan moving back soon to the Plano area but... Will there be anything left to come back to of our era? I live in Quanah Tx now, but I MISS DALLAS!!! Good video Thank you for it. And tell your husband Harry I loved him in Dumb and Dumber. :D

All can hope is they replace it with something nice, although always ends up parking lots or luxury apartments no normal person can afford.

It’s true!! And guess what... it’s going to be luxury apartments and shops!! You guessed it! Also a water feature. I’m sure it will be nice, but it’s like saying goodbye to my youth. Boohoo 😭
This is what happens when people are so damn lazy that they want to buy everryyything online. There will definitely be a recession coming and it may not be huge but it'll last a long time since there's no way any of these malls or stores will come back. And this recession will definitely last through SEVERAL presidents. As long as people keep saying "Screw that 5 minute trip, I'll buy it at Amazon!" then Amazon will be the only brand left and trust me, they WILL raise prices once all their competitors have been driven into the ground. It's NO different from oil. Do you really think OPEC would have kept their prices where they were in the 1980s if a massive oil field was suddenly discovered in the US or Canada that is the same size as all the oil fields in Saudi Arabia? It's first grade economics: when you have NO competition, you don't need to worry about customers. They'll be force to buy your product even if it's overpriced 10, 15 or even 25% more than before the competitors went bankrupt. And trust me, the retail crash is coming and Amazon will win and it will financially damage the US economy in ways you never dreamed. I wonder why they still let folks in if the mall was closed. This would be perfect to film some apocalypse type movies since it is empty.
People walk it for exercise, since its indoor it doesn't matter what the weather is, ground is flat and even which is good if your older or disabled, and relatively safe (no one can jump out of a bush or if you fall and cant get up at least the cleaning crew will find you). It also makes Mall look more active which is what they get out of it.

Why LOL? Will you be laughing when Amazon has COMPLETE control of the entire US retail economy and can dictate whatever prices it wants? Will you enjoy having to spend an extra four dollars for a $2 item because no brick and mortar stores exist to sell it any more? Seriously, think about it. That's where we're headed and I predict there will be a recession that will outlast 2-3 presidents. It won't be a huge recession but it will put thousands and thousands of people out of jobs and entire brands will collapse. Remember Toys R Us? Gone. Benetton? Gone. Pan Am? Gone. Even Wal Mart is having financial issues although they fight tooth and nail to cover them up. They once abandoned a store in Texas and didn't even tell anybody. Just packed up and left. Prepare for a lot more of that happening at places like JC Penney or Foleys, etc.

Oh wow! I remember watching them build the mall. I lived in the apartments right across from Collin Creek. We would ride our bikes over to the first anchor store, Foley’s (I think), and watch them work on the rest of it from the giant glass wall. In high school, I remember hanging out with my friends in the food court or just walking the halls together and checking out all of the cool stores. What was the name of the record store at the mall? I remember getting there as soon as a new Journey, STYX or Scorpions album was released. I still live in Plano but
Stonebriar became the only mall I ever visit. Goodbye Collin Creek Mall. You served us well and I spent untold amounts of money in your stores but time marches on. Thanks for making this video.

I mostly remember buying 45’s because that’s what my allowance would afford, ha ha! Gotta love the good old days! We also visited Valley View Mall, which is currently being demolished. This almost makes me feel like crying. I worked in an office building across the street around 1999-2000 and spent countless hours in that mall. A lot of memories will be torn down when the wrecking ball comes.

Last time I was at Amazing Jakes was in 2014. Pizza and games, yes. It was like a Chuck E Cheese on crack. It even had a beer bar for the adults.
wow what a shame! if only if they can ship dat mall over to Houston, it's alot nicer than Greenspoint and Sharpstown mall and those malls are open and look way worse than Collin' Creek Mall :/
My favorite when i was younger was Prestonwood
That was my mall of choice in the 90's. I remember when people were saying that is was going away, and I couldn't believe it, because the mall was still busy. I believe that malls like Prestonwood, Valley View and Collin Creek were killed off, because the upkeep on an older enclosed mall became too much, over the actual amount of shoppers that attended those malls.
Who can you blame for a lot of malls in America being closed and demolished ?

Well, there were a few other people there, mostly walking for exercise. But it definitely felt weird seeing the mall so empty. I can remember shopping there when it was very crowded and you could hardly even find a parking space!

What's pathetic is farmers lost their farms so these concrete parking lots and malls could be built.
