I feel like if I got a T-shirt that said Lesbians and Black Women are Liars, most people wouldn't get the reference and just think I was being a douchebag.
Agree. And I love that they do this for SO many reasons. One 'conscious' thought was comedians don't really get this exposure until they make it big, but I guess the unconscious step behind that is *practice* - no difference between a comedy club & TV show with an audience! You can see Jenny looking for her camera at the beginning - but I've studied linguistic microexpressions & eye movements, & I'm also familiar with TV studios, so it's probably not especially obvious, but if you look for it, you can appreciate just a tiny bit of a required skill that's required to be so good nobody even notices... (headf×vk - how many do we actually have? ) So yeah, practice! I love the acknowledgement that there's a *team* of writers too. Stated & implied... or displayed. I like that the Daily Show is doing it too, although they seem to be finding their groove still. I think Desi is finding hers first there, in those segments.
I love how much they enjoy doing this. Props to Seth for apparently creating opportunities for minorities to appear on the show and to be made comfortable.
This comment gets posted by someone different every time. And while I love Amber to bits, to itty-bitty-lil-heart bits, I......... OK, it's like this: Michelle Wolf and especially Chelsea Handler (who I both LOOOOOOVE) were sort of given enough rope to *ahem* "hoist" themselves. And that bums me out, 'cause I think Chelsea's show on E! was amazeballs lightning in a bottle and I loved Michelle's non-seriousness & attacks on the press.
Ok but whats even funnier is the web series about the lesbian vampire (carmilla im pretty sure is the series they were talking about) was originally sponsored by u by kotex
I think the "funny" part of the gay actors joke is that even though there are "out" gay actors, and known or suspected "closeted" ones, they seldom play gay characters. Gay characters are generally plated by straight actors. But hey, its a job and you do what you are paid to do.
Seth can't tell these jokes, I couldn't tell these jokes, But I can laugh with the rest of the audience at them. The setup kind of gives permission to laugh at jokes it be uncomfortable to laugh at otherwise.
Only in the US, over here in Germany and other parts of Europe, this weird rule that certain things you can only joke about if you are affected, does not really exist. There was a bit with Kumail Nanjiani on the a British comedy show "the last leg", where he was confused why they were making jokes about one the comedians disabilities, why that was ok, since it would not ok if he made those jokes. And they were all amused by that and just said, of course you can, just go for it. So this segment would not work over here, still funny in that context though.
Sadly, she's married. I'm not sure why the poster above me wrote "Uh huh. Sure." in response to your comment - gay people can get married (at least for now!).
"One third of the actors at this desk are gay... At least" all I think about is Stefon
how could you not, he's right there on the desk!
The Cricket Nerd Stefon was played by Bill Hader, not Seth.
But Seth married Stefon.
Larry, there's a Stefon doll on Seth's desk, that's what I was referring to.
I was looking for this comment!
Seth: "It's not going where you think it is."
Joke: **goes exactly where you think it's going**
4:33 "ho, don't do it"
@Justin O. Underappreciated comment. I see you sir
"Its not going where you think it is" is the mantra of trans people everywhere.
And yes, I am trans. And lesbian.
I already know what's going to happen at the end, but I still laugh every time.
same XD
Man of my heart!!!
One of my favorite late night segments
It’s the worst part because it means that the bit is ending ( which makes Seth doing another joke that much better)
I mean seriously. When is it going to get old. I laugh every time too 😂😂😂
I feel like if I got a T-shirt that said Lesbians and Black Women are Liars, most people wouldn't get the reference and just think I was being a douchebag.
Zachary Grigley I know right? But I want one real bad.
Zachary Grigley 😂😂😂😂😂
Zachary Grigley Maybe put “TEEHEE” at the end?
I don't know why the "Tee Hee" made me laugh so hard.
Or have on the front "you should be ashamed of yourself", back "Lesbians and Black Women are liars. ...teehee"
Amber and Jenny's screen presence has improved so much since the first one of these!
I agree, I think there execution has improved. I think they're maybe more comfortable.

"linguistic microexpressions & eye movements" You must really have enjoyed the show "Lie to Me" then... :)
And all three of them look like they are *genuinely* having fun! (“Stansford!”)
It feels like Weekend Update-esque chemistry. I love this segment! :P
The over-acting is cringe
2:46 I believe they went back in, but back to work? That part I don't believe.
Every joke needs a little fantasy to make it work
The part of that joke I didn't get, is why he couldn't say it. Seems like that's exactly the sort of joke that belongs to white men.
Chris L
That's why Seth had his own mock-offended reaction to it.
Going back to work is just something you say when you go to your job. It doesn't actually mean you're doing anything. :)
Jim's videos good one
4:33 - Don't do it....Do not do this....You did it.
Jenny killed it in this sketch!
If that performance had been an all gay cast, it would be called Oklahomo.
you're hired
No, It would've been called Oklahoma: But with better singing
I would like your comment but 69 likes seems too perfect.
How dare you!
YOU SHOULD BE *ASHAMED* OF YOURSELF!
Him yelling "Black women and lesbians are liars!" still gets me every time.
@@adamsmith5913 yes he was very defiant
@@DMO-DMO-DMO wtf? Your mom did crack?
@@adamsmith5913 Um. What?

"You said STANSFORD!"
Why can't this segment be longer?
"One third of the actors at this desk are gay...at least."
Seth: "Are you....? Is it me??"
XD
4:33 Jenny is not suprised but its still pretty damn funny.
Jenny: Don't do it.
Seth: I'm doing it.
I can't get enough of Amber and Jenny! Late Night with Seth is by far the best late night show.
I'm binging them all in a playlist, this is one of the best ones.
They need to do this.... every night. All the time. Screw the rest of the show, just have this. All the time. It is literally the best thing.
GO STANSFORDS!!!!!!!!! SETH, AMBER AND JENNY ARE AWESOME😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This is still one of the best segments on this show! Amber & Jenny kill it every time
This segment should seriously win and Emmy.
The chemistry amongst these three has grown so much since they started doing this! Love it.
That is so my favorite bit of the show
My favorite segment.
Mine too
I like Point/Counterpoint
No offense LGBT Society
Likewise.
I’ve watched this segment hundreds of times. I know exactly how it ends and yet I laugh, EVERY time😭😭
4:03, Don't do it Seth, don't fall for it!
4:10, Goddammit!
He falls for it literally every time.
EVERY SINGLE TIME
She's never gonna let him kick that football!
Pow! Pow! Bodied. 💀
it's almost as if that's the bit
I love how much they enjoy doing this.
Props to Seth for apparently creating opportunities for minorities to appear on the show and to be made comfortable.
I think the three of them have just as much fun doing these as I do watching them!!
You ladies freakin' rock! 😂
i’m YELLING over the jar thing.
the answer IS always yes.
This is without a doubt one of the best recurring segments on the show... bravo, you all! Keep going til it hurts
I never get tired of this routine! It's one of the best on late night television.
1:41 oH my God they were Roommates
Amber needs her own show seriously

Move Jimmy Fallon off the air.
Move Seth to the Tonight Show desk.
Move Amber to the steering wheel of Late Night.

And Amber is a Goddess (and thats from a straight white guy):)
I took your likes from 69 to 70. Apologies, fellow Jenny-lover :-X

Yes, but a proper retelling requires a cunning linguist.

"Don't do it -.-" - words can't even express how much I love Jenny.
facial is beyond words. my favorite.
It’s my favorite whenever I see a new “Jokes Seth Can’t Tell” clip show up in the feed!
She told you to stop Twice! Nevertheless you persisted
No means yes.
She said it would be okay!
I just love this segment. My smile muscles are hurting from this workout.
Amber is a national treasure!
I absolutely adore how excited the crowd got when the segment started, because I relate 100% 😍
Ok but whats even funnier is the web series about the lesbian vampire (carmilla im pretty sure is the series they were talking about) was originally sponsored by u by kotex
I'm proud to say that my math dept is 50% women.
Ted dibiasi I think they mean exactly that, that half of the members of their math department are women. Not that hard to interpret lol
You're all good aha
Wow where do you study/teach?
Great to know! As a maths student sadly my colleagues are around 20% women as of this time
@Ted dibiasi Lol! That must be what they call "new math" :)
always enjoy Amber and Jenny
Oh man, I love them all SO MUCH. This segment is a masterclass on how to be risky, funny, smart, and inclusive all at once.
OMG the best one yet! Double the pay for those two ladies, they are the Best!! All three so very funny. Love you guys!
This was brilliant! They're getting more and more comfortable with it and it just adds to the comedy!
Black Women and Lesbians are the best! Amber and Jenny should have their very own show.
Jokes Seth Can’t Tell is my favorite thing ever 😂
"in their defense, its hard to find a gay actor." DIED
Every single time these are hilarious.
You seemed to enjoy filming this episode a lot more than the others! Yall have great energy together, and it makes it even more funny. Great job!
The White House joke was fuggin great!
"You told me it would be okay!!!" Who doesn't love a good running joke? 💖
If you mix up the letters in "Stansford" you get "Snodsfart".
I'm sure there's a Harry Potter moment can be made out of that...
Snodsfart never gets invited to the Tri-Wizard Tournament :(
that shouldn't be a funny as it is.... and yet here i am at 1am, laughing at snodsfart.
1:04, the answer we were looking for was scissors.
✌️✌️
The comments are as good as the routine
LOL. They trolled EVERYBODY in this. Nice going you three(some).
I'll show myself out. 😇
Manish Patel I’ll let you get away with that pun.
I looooove these, because it's so clear that they like each other and are genuinely having a great time.
I just love that they have so much fun on this show. It seems like it would be super fun to work there XD love you guys! Keep up the great work!
great bit, the pig pen black face joke was good. it's a cartoon character people. and the because there are no gay actors was pretty good too.
I think the "funny" part of the gay actors joke is that even though there are "out" gay actors, and known or suspected "closeted" ones, they seldom play gay characters. Gay characters are generally plated by straight actors. But hey, its a job and you do what you are paid to do.
Jenny legit cut him off, I could've died 🤣
"Dont do it" my favorite line
"No, no no, it's good"
"Do not do this"
People who called it Lesbian Oral History knew exactly what they were doing
I was onboard with Jenny’s “Don’t do it.” I was all, “this wont well for him.”
3:19 Amber says „What?“ is what I need when I see this.
When my dad can't open a jar, he brings it to me. .... That was the first sign.
Okay, I love A Closer Look, but I have just watched like 100 of these... and this is the best segment on the show!
My favourite segment on the show every week, which is saying a lot given how good the rest of the show is!
"YOU TOLD ME IT WOULD BE OK!" 😂😂😂
They should’ve worked in the Oregon State U Beavers into the joke
there's nothing better than these skits. I love them so.
Seth: “Oh! I’m glad I didn’t have to tell that one!”
Amber: “I’m regretting having done so...”
I love these segments. My week is instantly better when I see one posted.
Ambers laugh cracks me up. She and Jenny are both brilliant
Hehe, oral history. 😜
This is the first time I'm going to watch it again. IMMEDIATELY.
This might be my favorite bit they do on this show! Maybe on any late night show!
Still my most favorite bit of the show. Hilarious every time!

That is the genius of this bit
Nah to be honest if the joker mocking a demographic is part of that then I guess it's OK. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense to shun those that laugh.
When Seth does the bit a Closer Look, he does a closer look on relevant stories. He does this to offer a closer look on things.
Do you provide your service for other comedy bits?
As a straight male I feel I need a lesbian friend to help open those damn jars.
Ok my guess on the question lesbians get asked the most was, "Can I watch?"
this is my favorite segment of the show, gets me every time :'D
“A phone number”
I feel so fucking called out right now LMAO
