Yay finally a new video again! Cant wait for the Fortimanager series. Would be really cool if you could make it into a longer series and really start from bottom in FMG. There is a bit of a learning curve when you go from FGT managed to FMG.
About FortiCloud accounts. I had a word with my Fortinet channel person and the way it works is that the owner of the assets (typically the end user) should register those in their FortiCloud account. Then the end user need to link the partner accounts as sub accounts. If the end user decides to switch partners, all they have to do is link the new partner.

Just working out a few ideas on how to deliver the FortiManager stuff including licence ect. I intend on it being a deeper dive also.
Fortinet recently introduced Organizational units (OUs) into FortiCloud however the parent needs to have a FortiCloud Premium Subscription and I have been waiting months for it to be able to test it out. It used to really break things if we won some FortiFlex business for a customer but they already for example had FortiManager Cloud or FortiClient EMS with another partner who’d registered the asset themselves it’s not the best practice but it happens lots because the MSSP wants to control everything 🤣 Also for Flex if the partner is on the MSSP programme they can only register the Flex Asset themselves and cannot register it in the end customers account it all gets a little messy with this FortiCloud stuff. I personally got stung by it pretty hard losing something like x10 vm04’s that would have been monthly revenue because it was FortiFlex.

Forgive me, I am pretty new to Fortinet equipment and still learning. What benefit would there be to use this if I were to use FortiManager in an enterprise? Would this work the same as a ADOM in FortiManager which shares a policy and object database with devices in the same ADOM? Great video and fantastic explanation! Thank you!

Hi Will, good question! Let’s say that your company was called companyx but you had no requirement to manage or segment the deployment then your basically just using a single adom. Where the magic happens if your a larger company or a mssp and you need to manage several companies let’s say companyx, companyy and companyx then you could create separate adoms from them all. Everything inside a adom is segmented however you still have the ability to deploy global policy’s that can be shared across adoms (very common with Fortinet mssps)

I am setting up Fortimanager now and the training is so different from real world scenarios lol. I'd love some insight on how to beat utilize fmg. Particularly as an MSP.
