  • Making concrete art and decorative concrete items as a hobby can be fun and rewarding. It can be a very simple item or intricate and detailed. Whatever you are making, there are tools to help you make your concrete projects different, more detailed, better quality and much more. Let's talk about three more advanced tools for working with concrete as a hobby.
A variable speed wet-dry polisher with diamond polishing discs is a very useful tool set if you want to make shiny concrete objects. This is great for small, hobbyist level projects like a small outdoor table or table set. Working with this polisher is messy and wet so be sure to protect the surrounding areas from off-spray.
A variable speed vibration table motor is a handy tool to have. This variable speed motor is very useful to have because it can be used on different sized vibration table tops when making different sized concrete projects. Using a vibration table will help to consolidate the concrete or mortar mix well and eliminate hollow pockets and honeycombing in the finished product. This produces a stronger, higher quality finished product.
Texture can be added to concrete using many different things like sponges, rags, bags, leaves, almost anything really. But texture mats will up your concrete hobby game by giving your project some cool and realistic textures - like different rocks or woods. Texture mats, or texture skins, can come in many different shapes, sizes, colors and made from a number of different materials. Whether you have a texture mat made of urethane, latex, or silicone, your finished project will have a great look using texture mats.

i do concrete craft in my apartment, so using a variable speed wet polisher is a dream for me....
and yes, i am exactly in that phase where i want to explore all kinds of textures from exposed aggregate of all sorts.
And what i use to get the mirror-like finish are simple grinding pads, which i manually grind with. It is, by far, the most time consuming aspect of creating concrete craft.

A cheap way to vibrate a mold is by using an old corded razor, a powerful one, like a Wahl brand. Hold it against the mold or against the table near the mold.

Could you give some recommendations for mold-making literature or other resources for learning all the technical aspects of it?
