    Fantastic video
    I have hit all the new MB20 range as a preface to my comments
    I understand everyone's desire to buy the blades, have them in your bag just to stare at them and be able to smile - trust me I do. That said, the MMCs are stunners in the performance category - and if you truly understand the sports concept of a winners game vs a losers game, whereby outside of the very top few players in the world that hit winning shots in order to win tournaments, the rest of humanity is judged by how bad our poor shots are on our scorecard. When you accept this unfortunate mathematical fact, these MMC clubs are for most players far superior to the blades because they are so much more forgiving and their still thin sole design is in no way a scoring challenge for even the best players in the world to do what they want to do through the turf to deliver the face of the club into the ball. Yes they aren't the pageant queen at the ball - but they are better than the blades at delivering a lower score on your scorecard - that of course, may or may not matter because sometimes beauty is more important.
    I found all the clubs to be fantastic - and the blades did surprise me how far I was hitting them (172 avg 7 iron) - but I never had a miss hit that was noticeable on the MMCs, unlike the blades where distance would fall to 158, and looking down on the angles of the MMC was more pleasing than seeing the HMB's increased offset. That said, and I own a set of Hot Metal Pros bent 2 degrees weaker across the board (7 iron = 32 degrees versus stock at 30 and similar to the MMC tested), I did order an HMB 5 iron with a SteelFiber 110 shaft to replace my Hot Metal Pro 24 degree 5 iron because with the HMB you don't see the back of the club at address unlike the Hot Metal Pro.
    If I was ordering a complete new set of clubs, I would order the MMCs PW to 6 iron with Dynamic Gold 120gram S300s and then a HMB 5 iron, bent 1 degree stronger to 24 degrees with a higher launching SteelFiber 110 shaft - and if I was playing tournaments, which I'm not, I would order the HMB 4 with a similar SteelFiber graphite higher launching shaft as my 215 yard club for long Par 3s - I currently prefer my old man GapR High for that shot.

      i agree but the blades are SOOOOO nice .. maybe i will order all MMC except for one blade like in 8 iron so i can just look at it

    Great content Jay, I had a custom fitting and found the MP20 MMC were delivering far more consistent results, than the odd miss strike on the (beautiful) MB. My game focus is about scoring in the 70s, and so imho there is no better choice than MMC.

    Ive hit all 3 and this has the forgiveness of the hmb and close to the looks at address and feel of the blade. Time to start saving up because they aren’t cheap.

    Great review Jay ! I played the MP-58’s for several years (about 7 years). These have similar tech, the MP-58’s felt awesome but weren’t that forgiving. Currently playing Callaway Apex Pro Forged 19’ irons with Smoke finish and Nippon Modus 105 stiff flex shafts and love them. Great combo of FEEL & Forgiveness!! If i didn’t just get custom fit for my Apex Pro Forged 19’ irons these would definitely be in the running for new irons !!
    EDITED 12 Jan 2020; THe APex Pro Forged are on eBay for sale ! After research on RUclips and looking at my club champion fitting Trackman #’s the back spin and low height are way too low !
    5 iron: 3,663 rpm back spin, 84 mph club head speed, 17.3 deg launch, 89 ft height. Carry: 181.9 yds, total: 196.3 yds
    7 iron: 4,160 rpm back spin, 80.0 mph club head, 18.0 launch, 75 ft height; Carry. 157.3 yds. Total: 170.5 yds
    9 iron: 5,410 rpm. 78.0 mph. 19.3. 62 ft. Carry. 129.4 yds. total: 140.4
    no decent angles were given.
    The fitter and i were blown away by the extra 10-12 yards of carry distance from the 5 iron compared to the X-Forged ‘18 iron (5 iron) i was gaming at the time (Feb 2019) we overlooked how low spinning these Apex Pro Forged irons are !!

    It seems you use a 10-finger grip which is fairly unusual. I did for many years until changing to an interlocking grip. Is there something in the 10-finger grip that you find advantageous? Thanks for the detailed review.

    I went in to buy the MP20 blades and actually bought these based on feel. I thought there was a slight firmness to the blade and more of a traditional Mizuno feel in the MMC. Totally subjective, though, right? Fun video to watch. Thanks!

      You're very welcome and as for the feel comment..... Going with your own feelings and thoughts are the only way when it comes to testing feel. I've been testing the new T20 wedges today using Mizunos own RBX tour ball off the back of Mark's wet dry video saga.... Very interesting results but as feeling goes I think the T20 is by far one of the nicest wedges I've ever tested.

    As an update to this video, I hit the 32-degree MP20 MMC 7 iron today, back-to-back, against the new 31-degree JPX 921 Forged 7 iron. The MMC has a more substantial weight feel to it, it has a slightly bigger look at address, but there was no question in my mind, that I would take the MMC all day long against the 921 Forged

      Very busy back of the club and never has been my favourite MP design but even I am struggling with what 5 iron to use..... Blade or slightly weakened MMC as the normal lofted MMC goes a few yards too far for gapping purposes.

    Hi jay, in your opinion is it worth the upgrade from Mp18 mcc to Mp 20 mmc?
    Not overly keen on the different colour of the tungsten on mp18
    Thanks

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  5 лет назад +1

      Honestly Tommy I have never been a fan of direct model swapping as normally the change is very incremental and not revolutionary..... However I can't stress enough from my perspective anyway and feel is very subjective but the new MP20s with the copper layer just feel amazing to strike and even when it comes to mishits as you can see in the review, I don't hit it out the middle every time but they still perform amazingly well from a more bladed club and keep the satisfying feel.

    • @tommyhall7043
      @tommyhall7043 5 лет назад +1

      AskGolfNut thanks for reply jay👍🏼 Is feel worth £1100 if performance would be very similar 🤷🏻‍♂️ I maybe wait and see what they do with JPX 921(if that’s what they’ll call them)forged-tour. Mizuno are certainly knocking it out the park with there irons last few years⛳️
      Great honest reviews as always jay😎

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  5 лет назад +1

      @@tommyhall7043 well definitely if you quantify it in pure cost of £1000 to £1200 then yes you are completely correct. If someone wanted to upgrade from an earlier model then yes for sure would be worth it but I guess the only person that can justify any spend is the individual. 👍

    Hey nice review, hoping someone can help me with a question. I'm living abroad and options are scarce. I'm 90% sold on these Mizunos but no fitters here have them, I've been told by a top 100 ranked fitter who only has KZG irons that I can get the shaft fit on KZG and it will translate well to these Mizunos because the head weight is almost identical. How correct is that, and what are my best options and or questions I should be asking at the fitting in this scenario. Thanks.

    Since there is no tungsten in the 8iron down, would there be any reason to not combo the blades from 8-pw? (Assuming you got the gapping sorted)

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  5 лет назад

      Definitely... I'd look to match the lofts and use the tungsten titanium offering in the MMC to help the launch within the mid irons.. Then peak the iron set with the HMB in the 3 and 4 irons.. (HMB vid coming later today 👍)

    I've tried, been fitted for HMB irons and would love to blend a set with these MMC irons BUT... At a fitting you can only try a 7 iron in each set! The tech in lots of sets change from 7 iron down (speed slots, or Tungsten weights ect) so how han I be sure of what to get?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  4 года назад +1

      Hi Garry, good question and one that is asked a lot. I'm fortunate enough to be able to use my media equipment for my clients to ascertain what effects different tech has within non 7 irons. Predominantly you have to trust the expertise of the fitter, but depending on where you have gone a lot of the time the expertise can be questionable. It's well worth getting fitted at a performance centre that has either been luckily enough to have access to that sort of equipment range or has the throughput to justify the cost of getting extra demo equipment in for clients to use.

    How does this compare to the JPX 919 Forged ? I’m a 2.4 handicap but mostly due to a strong short game (+5.4 putting handicap ARCCOS). My ball striking needs forgiveness, these look less forgiving compare to JPX 919 Forged. The MMC probably feel softer also. 3 years ago i had JPX 900 Forged, which felt hard with Boron. Loved their forgiveness too.
    Ill be also comparing the Ping i210 against these 2 irons also when i go for my fitting later this spring

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  4 года назад

      Hi Stephen, actually the MMC with the tungsten makes it a whole load more playable for the half decent hitter of the ball. You don't have to be an absolute tour striker to use the MMC.
      The i210 is a great choice to test and my personal favourite when it comes to the blend of feel and forgiveness attached to an iron with traditional lofts.
      The 919 Forged although very good within its class doesn't have the pure feel of the copper coated MP20 range.
      Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍

    • @stephendibari7704
      @stephendibari7704 4 года назад

      AskGolfNut Jay thanks for your quick reply ! So the i210 is your favorite pick and has the best feel and forgiveness?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  4 года назад +1

      Between the i210 and the JPX919 Forged I'd personally go with the i210 because of the traditional lofts.
      In come the MMC and that would be my personal choice 👍

    • @stephendibari7704
      @stephendibari7704 4 года назад

      AskGolfNut can also get the Ping i210 in Power Spec loft which are very close to MMC’s lofts. I may choose the power spec. I’ll see how my custom fit goes. I like the fact that Ping aren’t forged (but have the softness with the elastomer in the cavity) so i dont need to be concerned with lofts and lie being checked regularly. I’m going to put the MMC up against the i210’s in my custom fit and compare dispersion and feel.
