Started boiling peanuts last year once I found a source of green ones. Loved them so much I started growing my own. No easy feat here in Eastern Canada but they are doing fantastic. I'll wait till after the first couple of frosts before I harvest.
A man after my heart...I can eat boiled peanuts ‘til I flounder. My BNL & I do them up in a pressure cooker. 10 minutes a batch then release the pressure. I’ve also pressure canned them in quart mason jars. Same time span but have to let them cool down without releasing pressure to keep the liquid from boiling out. 25#s will yeild about 4 cases of quart jars and last me about a year. 😉. Like spicing them with jalapeños or Tabasco or Valentina Mexican hot sauce. 👍🏻👍🏻
Peanuts are an expensive crop just to plant. I’m sure your farmer friend appreciates your efforts at hog control. They’ll eat right down a planted row over night, just rooting and eating!
I moved to Ft. Myers FL in 1981. A man down here from South Georgia owned a corner store and sold boiled peanuts 🥜 cooked in a crock pot with smoked ham hocks, neckbones, and jalapeño 🌶. I still live in Ft. Myers, and I still buy Dave's famous boiled peanuts.
Hey, Jeff: Up here in Indiana, we have to import our peanuts, so glad you gave us Northerners another lesson in Southern Country Living! Don't hurt that arm, deer season coming!!! Still praying for you Buddy!!
叶江 Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia mainly. I know it’s not the importing your thinking of but anytime something is sent cross the Mason Dixon line then it’s considered exporting to the southern states and importing to those poor Yankees in the other side of the line, bless their hearts ♥️!!! They just had no clue what they had to grow up without but once they did we’ve been exporting to them by the burlap sack full!! Lol 😆
Living in the country on a farm must be like heaven. I knew several fella's who did a lot of hog hunting in the Delta. They gave me a lot of hog sausage. Talk about good. Very lean and healthy without all those bad chemicals commercial food companies put in. Love southern boiled peanuts too.
Boiled Peanuts are great! There is something else that tastes like boiled Peanuts. I was out trying to learn to forage and found wild radishes. I identified it first by the flowers, it was to late in the season, the roots went to wood. The leaves taste good, but the texture is like sandpaper. The only thing left to try was the seed pods. So I boiled them up and found they taste just like boiled peanuts. They work great for a garnish on a salad, just boil them, chop them up and toss them in a salad. You should try them sometime, sure you will like them.
My first time trying boiled peanuts was a couple years back. Being from the north, I didn't know what you were supposed to do with them. I ate some of them and was in the truck stop a little later and the young lady asked me how I liked them. (I had mentioned never having them before when I purchased them) I said they were okay, but awful chewy. She gave me a funny look and asked, "You did shell them didn't you?" I said, "I thought that was why you boiled them, so you could eat the shells." She shook her head no and we both started laughing. Guess I'll know better next time. lol Another interesting video, keep them coming. Have a good day.
My favorite method to cook them is in a pressure cooker/ instant pot. About 55 minutes to an hour is perfect! Never tried them with crab boil. Will give it a try. Boiled peanuts are the best!!!
I have the 8th wonder of the world. In the south their called boiled peanut stands. Mmmm mmmm we got canjun, regular and that's about it LOL. At least in the neck of my woods
Thanks for the informative video! I always wondered how it was done! As a Northerner, when I saw my first "Boiled Peanut" sign I was shocked. Sounded...crazy! Now I love em! Fast forward 10 years later, in the pandemic, I miss them, and was looking to cook up a batch myself. Thanks for taking the time to make the video!

My sister lived in Oklahoma the Brandon, Mississippi for many years. She spoiled this California boy with those damn boiled peanuts... I'm hooked for life.
Howdy, Really good info about boiling the peanuts, I'll have to try that sometime and the ham you smoked in the last video looked perfect 👍 interesting approach adding the sausage slices 🤔 Hope you and the family are happy, healthy, your arm heals faster than anticipated, and y'all have a wonderful evening ☺
Might just devote one pan on the end of my hot dog cart to this recipe and sell some peanuts too! Thanks for the video 👍 I'm about to make some money with this! We rolling right into fall tourist season around here and there ain't nothing like eating peanuts while you stroll downtown!!!
Thanks Jeff interested in trying some, This coming October, and Enjoying 🥜 watching my baseball ⚾️ games or football in the future 😉👍👌 thanks again Mr. For showing us how too! ☺️
Thanks for sharing that with us Jeff. At 16 in 1967 I passed threw your woods and wondered what the crop was. I was on my way from northern Alberta to Kermit Tx. for a ranching job. I stopped and grabbed a handful and started driving and eatin, what a mistake that was. Thanks again Jeff, Cheers, Billy in B.C.
When I was a young fella doing an apprenticeship my boss said to me that my goal in life should be to learn at least 1 new thing everyday, well, this is today’s lesson. Yes I knew peanuts are a root but had never seen them grow even though I grew up in a rural town in Australia.
Nice video. I’ve been boiling ‘em for years and years. I’ve got a pot big enough to cook a whole bushel at a time. Then, bag ‘em up in quart size freezer bags, freeze ‘em, and then enjoy them all year long. Some of the best snacks, ever. Glad to see your arm is coming along. ‘Preciate YOU
There’s an old man in Florida that boils them down with carrots and cauliflower. And the brine is like no other. Salty sweet and spicy. Absolutely Devine

Looks awesome Jeff. My first time tasting them was in Monroe Louisiana with one of best friends. We were stationed together in Florida traveling to Texas. Awsome experience. God bless from west Texas. Thanks for sharing your video with us.
Had them in Florida many years ago. Still a fan! Make them once a year in the cold northeast in October along with Yankee style Chili & smoked Kielbasa. Thank you for the harvesting part of the video. Coming from a tobacco and potato part of the Mass valley, was very informative. Cheers my Friend!
Never had "Country Caviar"... but, now that I've seen it, would be interested in trying it. It never dawned on me that folks would season 'em. I'd always imagined raw peanuts sitting in boiling water until mushy/bland (I've eaten raw peanuts to see what they tasted like). LOL New perspective/appreciation for them now.
Love to do those things, After boiling in brine water ( NO CRAB BOIL ) until tender, I shut them down , coat the top layer with salt ,Cover & let the peanuts absorb the salt as they cool off ! Chas.,SC
Born and raised in central Florida. Moved to P.A. recently. they actually sell canned boiled peanuts regular and my favorite the cajun at our local Walmart. Nobody has ever heard of them here. Been turning ppl on to them lol.
I know right, I was like what the hell is he doing, we always dug ours with a pitch fork lol we must have planted our peanuts to deep cause they wouldn't come out of the ground like that and we have some real sandy soil lol
Had a fav-o-rite brother in law from SC that introduced me to boiled peanuts. Love 'em! I like 'em with cayenne and garlic. So many different combinations of spice you can use.
Jeff it don’t get much finer than that right there and like you said, we generally try to boil plenty during the growing season to put in the freezer so we can have some whenever you can’t get any to boil because we love them rascals down here in the Florida Panhandle! I’m really enjoying what you’re doing here on your channel, taking us along on your daily endeavors no matter what they are and I for one can relate to your content from having grown up as an ole country boy. This to me is real reality TV! Preciate y’all! 👍
