Mariah was singing Hero to herself.. I can tell, she is such a strong woman after being tormented by so many things, she pulls through. That trait of Mariah is already inspiring.

Weirdosaur I think it really sad, because this was when her career really took a downturn chartwise and her reputation with the public was terrible and she hasn’t been able to bounce back from it (plus this is probably the last performance that was on par compared to her performances 1990-2006), and she obviously knew this (“I’m going to do my best with what I have”)

I think it’s more that, she could hit the note, but she can’t reliably achieve the vibrato, and people eat the vibrato up on that note
