The Long version of Get Ready is out of this world. Simply love this version for more then 50 years. I would play it on parties and still listen to it a lot.
Nice!
Toll you man
That long version Get Ready
Is bomb
💥🎶✌️🤓👍🎶💥
I loved it!! Thanks for the request!
Yessir
Bruh, I do appreciate you for doing the long version!!!
You're welcome, thanks for watching!!!
"What are they gonna do for 20 minutes?" Buckle up my friend and take the ride! One of the best melding of rock and soul ever.
They got busy for 20 minutes!
YEEES finally someone is checking out the long version. This is the original party album. All the band members get a solo time. Such a great album.
One of the very best long versions of a song ever. Rare Earth was a superb band
I turned 11 the Fall of that year... I grew-up in the best time for Music E V E R!💯💥
👋😎👍
Yes we did!
That was the jamm! The long version. I wore that album and 8 track tape out. Me and My homies down in B'ham Al. In the 70s. We lived this music everyday and all day if we could!!! Thank you!💯🔥🔥
You're welcome! That's what I'm talking about! People sharing our love of music. I don't get no better than that! I'm 56 and I still can't get enough of that old funk!!!
@@KTMusicGroup oh yeah no doubt. I'm a bass player and 61 years old. And those baselines are still alive in my head. This kind of music will never die!✌️✊
Off the hook!! I love this version and I own the album!!!

Bruh, they show off every single instrument in this cut. Great selection!!! You gotta do some War. Deliver The Word or World is A Ghetto!
Yeah they got busy on those solos! I'll do "World Is A Ghetto" too!
What about : slipping in the darkness life
Hot Sexy Gil Bridges on Sax.
1970, I bought my first car ('65 Mustang GT) and played the hell out of this on my zoomy 8-track player. I had an 8-track recorder so I could listen to the long vinyl track.
8-Track tape...you're bringing back memories! a '65 Mustang GT...Sweet!!
Barry didn't care what color you are. He knows funk when he hears it. If you bring the funk you get signed. Rare earth not only brought the funk they tore the funk up!
That's a fact!
It didnt get much better than Rare Earth and they deserved being signed by Motown and their own label.
Another one of Rare Earth's masterpieces.
The drummer was also the one singing - he was a bad shut yo mouth. This album came out the year I got married - memories.
Thanks very much for doing the long version! Awesome music....
My pleasure!
Thanks for doing the long version!
It was indeed a concert recording. One of the rare ones that exceed anything possible in the studio. BTW... I highly recommend imbibing in the herbal "supplement" of your choice and donning a pair of good headphones and kicking back for this ride. It helped get me through my senior year of high school.
Cool story, thanks!
Very jazzy love this
We luved it to dance to at our school and home parties
HEY BRO THANKS FOR THE SHOUT OUTS MAN ON THAT SAME ALBUM RARE EARTH LIVE THAT GET READY IS ON THERE'S ANOTHER SONG ON THERE IT'S A COVER IT'S CALLED *TOBACCO ROAD* IT'S REALLY BLUESY I THINK YOU DIG THAT ONE TOO MAN
Isn’t it great how the drums keep the song together, my dance music when I was young
Yes, you know i love the drums
The best version!
That's a fact!
I saw Rare Earth perform Get Ready at the Ambassador Theatre in St. Louis. It may have not been the best concert I ever saw but it was the most fun. There wasn't a single person sitting in their seat. Everyone was on their feet dancing in the aisles. I was surprised that there were more blacks than whites. The music brought the house down. Wow, what a fun night.
Yes this is the Best!!!
They Got Ready!
Yes they did!
yeah mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn it can not get better homie
I got to see them live in 1973, I think. They got the whole crowd up and snake dancing. It was a blast! IMHO Pete Rivera is the greatest drummer EVER (in case you don't know, he is the lead vocalist here too)!
It's clearly live, that's why it's so special. No overdubbing, you're hearing it just as the audience did way back in the day. Honestly, when I first heard this in 1976, I thought it was a bunch of black dudes getting down, a little like War, but I was obviously wrong.
Still listening to this superior version in 2023.
Hats off to you for being one of the few RUclipsrs to search this gem out and to react to it!
I saw them in IU nov. 1970 I was leaning on the front of the stage watching Peter play the drums.
Love that!
PS : I grew up hearing all this good old music
I played saxophone, drums,
And I'm playing keyboards by ear 👂
Cool
BORN TO WANDER is a very good track by them.
Got it
The long version from the Live In Concert album is much better. Check it out. Highest soundquality and a little bit longer.
i first heard this long version at disco in manhattan called the sanctuary i was tripping yes we can dance for 21 minutes
That's a great story!
There's a live concert recording, "Rare Earth Live", originally on vinyl, then re-released on cd. The actual live recordings are a blast
As a mobile dj, i play this version to shape the sound to the room.
Cool
Best version without a doubt...
First album I ever bought.
That's cool. The 1st record I bought was Aqua Boogie by Parliament
the drummer is also the singer
Yes ...he's very impressive
Just waiting ro see tour reaction to the base solo lol
Try their remake of What'd I Say by Ray Charles. Rare Earth rocks it.

I knew that you would like that get ready rare Earth long version live do another one if you would you may have done it but I didn't see it maybe but it's a song that's called slipping into darkness and it's by war
Great choice! The album version is the only one worth listening to by them. That was drummer Peter Hoorelbeke AKA Peter Rivera providing the lead vocals.
Time has come today, long version, by The Chambers Brothers......by the way, Rare Earth was on the Motown label.
Respekt to do your reaction on the Long version! I like how you doing it.
Greetings from Germany
I appreciate that...Thank you!
This record was played by cool herc in raps infancy.Pete rivera still doin it.He got a site.Cool guy.The knapsack album 2 trs later has get ready live w conga solo. Its on.
I think I remember hearing a clip of Cool Herc playing this in one of his break beat mixes too!
This was actually not record live, believe or not! This was recorded in Studio A Motown. They added in the audience audio later to the track.
Ok Cool
Back in the day producers would often add audience cheers to make us think it was a live recording. I'm not sure why because it makes little sense to me.
I agree, it's not necessary
React to Prince - Never Take the Place of Your Man (1987 Sign of the Times concert movie)
Make sure the video title has all those words
Got it
You realize the drummer is the singer..
Yes, Peter Rivera
@@KTMusicGroup I was fortunate enough to see a rare earth show years ago in St Petersburg FL, it was of US 19 a large club called ( The Cheyenne Social Club) I got a table up close Peter Rivera was awesome.....
Great video, Kev!
Glad you enjoyed it!
If time, please :Check out War life 20 minutes slipping in the darkness. Or Iron Butterfly , innagaddadavida

Just discovered your channel. Like your style.I will try to find you some more funk...lol. Up date, You may wel know this by now , but the drummer is the lead singer.
Welcome aboard! Keep that Funk coming...
I love this song BUT I couldn't wrap my head around the time signature the drummer was providing during the jam / solo parts.... Maybe I'm just not that musically inclined... The beat just kept throwing me off the horse, or so to speak ‼️
1969 Motown Records
Yeah I seen him I think it was 74 or 73 I forget
I'll bet it was a great show!
WRONG!!... It was an absolutely out of this world amazingly stupendous astonishing mesmerising spellbinding emotionally enlightening talent packed stroke of genius live Jans EVER by a group of incredibly talented artists who we are truly blessed to have the sheer pleasure joy & delight to listen to.thanks to them laying down this masterpiece. What a performance...
Again. This is NOT a live version. Audience was overdubbed at mixing. Eddie Guzman who played bongos was added to the group after the first album was recorded. That’s why you don’t hear bongos.
And you hear bongs a lot on the 2nd album “Ecology” where Eddie is featured, especially in the long version of “I know I’m losing you “ Another top ten hit a cover of a Temptation’s song
Ok thanks for letting me know. I think others have mentioned that also.
Oh btw ,, Norman Whitfield once mentioned in a interview that they also did a 47 minute jam from which the version of “I know I’m losing you “ but edited it down to 10 minutes for the album. Peter Riveria also mentioned that in the “very best of Rare Earth “ cd from 1998 and the 1994 cd “Earth Tones”. Can you imagine how amazing it must have been?
Bongos, go to Santana Woodstock soul sacrifice, find the long drumming version
Drumming : Led Zeppelin live: mobs dick, bongos congas included
It was jokingly assumed to use “Rare Earth” for the record label and were surprised it became the name
Kevin never heard this Rare Earth version with the Intro!! Adds another layer to the arrangement.
May I recommend another War song with a great Bass line? I don’t think you’ve Reacted. Didn’t see it on your list.

Ok I’ve got a mighty fine track request for you to do a reaction video to... Emerson , Lake & Palmer . Fanfare For The Common Man. It’s real quality. Fine musicians. Check out Carl Palmers drumming... Its technical genius at its finest...
